  1. I’m really interested in having something nice in my son’s and daughter-in-law’s cabin for our cruise this August.
I can’t really tell or see from the pictures online, of what exactly is included.

Maybe I should just pack my own decorations and slip into their cabin and do it myself?

Any photos and personal experience is much appreciated! Thank you! 🥂🍾  🎉🎈🎊

  2. The online form isn’t working, and they’re aware of it. So I saw the number at the top of the form and the customer service rep took my info over the phone. I didn’t get any kind of email confirmation so I waited a few days called back (I had a question), and they confirmed my info.

  3. I realize that I’m bumping up an old thread, but I did a search on “turndown service” and this thread showed up. I didn’t want to start a new thread.

Anyway, if I’m reading these posts correctly, there isn’t turndown service anymore?  That’s a bummer.

And it’s not a matter of “can’t you just pull down your own bed?” It’s about the amenities that were always nice to come back to before bed.

So… no more chocolates? I couldn’t care less about towel animals.

Oh, and for the person that asked if hotels offer twice cleaning/turndown service.. Yes, yes they do. 😀

  4. My husband and I are interested in the Refreshment Package. We may buy an alcoholic drink or two during our cruise, but we’re mainly interested in the non alcohol ones.

With the current sale, the price per day per person is $27.99 VS $38 regular price. I know this doesn’t include Gratuities.

    2 Adults $391.86

    Gratuities $70.41

    TOTAL $462.28

    Pre-Cruise Savings of $140.14

Were wondering how much an individual juice, soda, water, non alcohol cocktail, etc costs so we can compare whether the drink package is worth it

We’ll be on the Aug 25 Symphony out of Cape Liberty, 7 nights to the Bahamas.

Any info or insight is greatly appreciated!

  5. Because of worsening mobility issues, it seems that I will need an electric scooter for our Oasis of the Seas cruise next May, 2022.  The gentleman that I spoke to very happily found us a great accessible room, and also told us that the cruise fare has gone down about $120, so he moved us to the new cabin, and adjusted the total amount due.

He assured me several times that THEY (the ship) will be providing an electric scooter for me, right there at the ship! I can't find any info about this on the RCI sight, and even on the Special Needs Information form that I need to fill out, there's no spot for saying that I'd be using a scooter owned by RCI; it only asks what type of wheelchair or scooter that *I* would be bringing.  So, I'm confused.

Can any of you with mobility issues while cruising let me know what your experiences have been?  Thanks!!! 🥂

  6. There will be 4 of us taking Amtrak from Boston for our Oasis of the Seas cruise out of Cape Liberty in May of 2022.  I want to arrive the day before and stay at a decent hotel near the port. I’m not sure which Amtrak station would be the best, between the Newark Airport stop, or the Newark Penn Station, or the new Moynihan Train hall at Penn Station NYC.

I have mobility and health issues, so we will need rides from whichever train station, to a hotel, then to the port the next morning.

Any suggestions? And you’d never know that I grew up in central NJ and have sailed out of Cape Liberty before, but we drove down and left our vehicle at the hotel for the week while we were on the cruise.🙄

Whichever hotel we stay at will need to have on-site food/cafe/restaurant for dinner and then breakfast. We’re not looking for the cheapest hotel, just a decent, safe hotel.

    Thanks in advance!!

  7. we'll be staying at the Marriott Marquis Times Square before and after our Disney Cruise this October. Is there is a liquor store there in Times Square?

I have to use a rolling walker to get around, so we won't be able to venture far. What restaurants are right there near the Marriott Marquis? In pictures I've seen the stores located all around it, but never noticed any stores or restaurants.

    Thanks!

P.S. Disney allows each adult to bring wine, champagne, or beer onboard, so we'd like to bring a couple of bottles on with us.

  8. My wife and I were in Cartagena last April and felt perfectly safe. We did a shore excursion from the ship that started with a guided walk through the Old City, followed by an hour and a half on your own. We wandered through the narrow streets all by ourselves, and never felt uncomfortable. Here are some photos I took that day:

    Cartagena, Columbia

Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing them!!! :)

  9. We will be sailing out of POM and arriving a day or two before. We would like a nice hotel, preferably ON the beach, or within walking, because we won't have a car.

Conversely, if there are better hotels closer to the airport or cruise port that aren't near the beach but are walking distance to other things, or if the hotel grounds themselves are nice, I'd consider those as well.

    Thanks in advance!

  10. It stinks to cancel a cruise that you've really been looking forward to. :( Sometimes knowing that you have a break from the stresses of daily life is what helps you deal with things while you're waiting for your cruise date, so when that goes away, there's nothing there to look forward to anymore.

Now this is definitely a first world problem, no doubt. :p But still, it is a big disappointment.

I would definitely do something nice for yourself that day. Go to your Zumba class, then have something FUN planned for the rest of the day, even a few small fun things. Taking a ride to AC sounds good! When I lived in NJ I used to go there to walk the boardwalk and get a bite at the HRC.

Then maybe go to a movie that night, or plan a girls' night, or something. Treat yourself to some flowers, a nice bottle of wine, just something to console yourself with.

A blue drink is always fun!

My next cruise is booked for next September and because we *may* change that to a land vacation instead, I'm making myself stay away from the planning forums or even thinking about the excursions, etc. It's so easy for us (the general "us") to get really attached to the vacations that we plans for months in advance.

I'm glad that the people here are understanding. :)

P.S. Or you could always head north to visit your aunt; I hear she's pretty nice and a lot of fun.

  11. Maybe we should start saving up for the cards NOW??? LOL I say we get 52, just like a regular deck of cards.

I have pics of the Champagne Bar on the Explorer. Are you coming down at the end of Nov? If not I'll pick the best ones & email them to you. I thought the Champagne Bar was adorable so I did take pics of it. :D

ROFL "52 like a regular deck of cards"!!! :p Sounds good to me! :)

No, we're not coming down at the end of November...so..I think you should come UP and visit us!!!

Yes please email me the pictures of the Champagne Bar... I have a feeling that'll be my first favorite spot on the ship.. lol :p

  12. Karina, thanks once again for all of the info!! :D

Does anyone happen to have pictures of the Champagne Bar on the Explorer?

ChristieNJ: I wonder how many Champagne Cards the 6 of us will go through on our cruise next year??? :p I know that I'll be good for at LEAST 2 cards, and John probably will too. We both LOVE Mimosas in the morning....wonder which of us will be running down to the Champagne Bar to bring them back to the cabin so we can drink them on the balcony?? LOL!

That leads me to my next question: What time does the Champagne Bar open in the morning??? :p
