I see where people recommend different parking garages at home ports. What is the advantage of parking in a secondary garage verses parking at the cruise port? Why would I not want to park at the cruise port? Sincerely, Confused Newbie

Thank you guys so much for the input! I think we will just give it a try, since it is our best shot at snorkeling.

I got an 11:30 a.m. check-in time on Carnival out of NOLA. I do not have FTTF. I have been checking the website to see if it will become available. We are 88 days away. Now, I am wondering since I got the 11:30 a.m. check-in time if FTTF is even worth it. What do you guys think? I have two teens and a husband in his 40's, so no physical limitations.

I was originally very interested in a day at Goff's Caye. However, I read a review or two that has me concerned. I don't want to believe all the negative if it is just people who are always negative. I would like an honest assessment before I haul my family over there. Anyone been? Here are my questions: 1. Do you have to stay all day or will they take you back after a couple of hours if you want to go? 2. Are there shaded areas? 3. How clean are those bathrooms?

Anyone know of good snorkeling in Roatan that starts from the shore? I do not want to go out on a boat and snorkel from the boat. I'm looking for something from shore. Thanks in advance for your help!

This thread makes me want to change my room! I have looked on the Carnival website to see what else is available, but can't figure out how to make a change. Can anyone help?

New cruiser here trying to figure out the check-in system as well. I have booked a Family Harbor Suite. Does that count as a suite when embarking? I am trying to decide if I want FTTF. We do not tender, so I am trying to weigh out the pros and cons of FTTF. If I embark first anyway with a suite, I am thinking I will skip FTTF.

Loving the review! Your son's dancing is precious!

What a wonderful review!!! It seems your family is just precious! This is the first I am hearing about picking the seasoning for your steak at the steakhouse. I can’t wait for that! I am also happy to see your food review of the BBQ. I am a true southern girl myself with a husband and brother-in-law that cook award winning competition BBQ. For that reason, I don’t eat BBQ our very much. It never lives up. However, I have heard how good the BBQ is on the ship (until this review). Now, I think I will skip that and head to JiJi’s on embarkation day lunch.

I keep reviewing FTTF advantages (this is my first family cruise). We are booked for a Family Harbor Suite. Since we are in a suite, will we board prior to FTTF? I am trying to decide if I really need FTTF.

Our family will be arriving to Galveston late at night the day before departure. We are driving,, so we need hotel and parking. This is our first cruise, so we would like as little complication as possible. Does anyone have a suggestion for hotel and parking that is easy to navigate and close to the Carnival Cruise port?

Another newbie with another luggage question. If we are driving in and getting priority check-in, is it necessary to give luggage to the porters or can we just take it on the ship with us?
I hope I used the word “porters” correctly! I am trying to get down all of the jargon.
