We were on Oasis a couple of years ago and the Masters was on all around the ship. It was a great atmosphere watching it.
I’m sure a US broadcaster that the Anthem picks up will be showing the British Open.
Sounds great, he’ll be delighted if thats the case. Thanks!

Oops, sorry. One word can mean a lot huh? To clarify, I would be shocked if it WAS NOT on. I firmly believe you will be able to watch it.
Ha ha yes, thanks 👍🏻

Thanks cruiseguy1016. Just to confirm, did you mean shocked if it was or shocked if it was ‘NOT’ !

We have just booked a 9 night sailing on Anthem, leaving from Cape Liberty, for July next year and can’t wait to go! The only issue however is that the British Golf Open is on over these dates and my golf fanatic son is devastated at the thought of not being able to view at least some of it.
Coverage of this in the UK is with SKY sports however we are unable to view this in the U.S. A VPN was a suggested way of getting round this however having viewed other Forums it looks like these are blocked onboard.
Anthem does not appear to have a Playmakers which was a big hit for us on Symphony. Have any golf fans been onboard at the time of the British Open and can you advise if it is likely to be shown?? Ir are there any subscription services this can be streamed from in the US/Caribbean?
Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks, alot of people seem to have positive things to say about 270!

The only thing we didn't like about the itinerary was that it was only 5 days...not long enough, but it was all the time we could afford at that time! Bermuda is absolutely gorgeous! You might consider a different cruise line to get more days if your schedule permits.
Thanks, I did wonder what the ‘dynamic dining’ situation was all about😀!
Luckily the itinerary we are looking at is a 9 day one, Cape Liberty/Bermuda/St Maarten/San Juan/Haiti/Cape Liberty.
Our Symphony cruise was 9 nights and really felt we needed it to experience everything.

We have Symphony booked for this March and Anthem booked for following March so interested too. From what I can tell they are very different ships, but both look great for their own things.
I’m sure you will love Symphony, its a beautiful ship, the facilities and shows are great. Wouldn’t hesitate to book another trip on Symphony, it was only our dates that pushed us towards Anthem this time. That said, it will be nice to experience a different class ship and see what that has to offer.

Our Internal Central Park view cabin on Symphony was great. Loved the concept of being in an internal cabin but still having a view and Central Park was pretty to look out at and quiet. Also, for the amount of time we actually spent in our cabin a balcony would have been wasted on us cost wise.
Unfortunately have left this booking too late for a Virtual Balcony as both Internal & Sea View cabins for 3 people are sold out. Thanks for the tip though, sounds ideal for us & will certainly bear it in mind for future!
The seaplex sounds great!

Having just completed Oct 18 sailing on Symphony, we are now considering a booking for Anthem in 2019, Cape Liberty/Bermuda.
It feels as though we have been spoiled with experiencing Symphony as our first RCI ship which we loved. I travelled with my husband and 13yr old son, we all had a fantastic trip and were impressed with the range of activities and the quality of the shows on Symphony. The cabin was surprisingly spacious also (internal Central Park View).
Can anyone who has sailed on both Oasis and Quantum class ships give an opinion as to the main differences and feelings/tips on Anthem. We are looking at a balcony cabin on this occasion and have options on decks 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13.
We used MTD on Symphony which suited us well, but I'm bit confused about the variety of main dining rooms on Anthem i.e Silk, American Icon Grill etc?
Any hints/tips much appreciated. Thanks

$39pp to stay on board till around 3:30p
Because Symphony interports the ship has many of the Rome cruisers on board too
It is well advertised in the Compass, and also will be as an “excursion “ option in your shire excursion planner on line.
Alternative is to spend the day in Barcelona- use BagsNGo to take your cases to the airport for you €10 per case
Thats really handy to know, had wondered about the baggage situation! Thanks for the info, something to think about 👍🏻

We weren't first didn't want to be fairly empty check in hall and probably a good few hundred before us all checked in and boarding and couldn't have cared less.
But we are out of hotel at 10.00 to the port checked in luggage embarked with one small carry on a lovely quiet leisurely lunch what more could one ask for.
Stateroom ready exactly one o'clock cases already there unpack and on the pool deck about two.
No hassle no worries no problem and it's like getting an extra day on board.
Absolutely superb.
Me first Me first absolutely no way who cares whose first embarking or whose last each to there own.
The best thing to do is what you are comfortable with.
Thanks😊

Stay Later is only offered on European cruises.
Thanks. We are sailing on Symphony on a Western med with an evening flight so hopefully that would work for us.
-
Symphony also has the Stay Later programme whereby you can stay on board till 3.30p if you have a late flight.
Do you know anything about how the Stay Later programme works? Mentioned to my travel agent but they weren’t aware of it🤔 sounds great for a later flight.

Ha ha, its not the lunch we’re after, just got visions of hanging around when we’re kicked out the airport hotel at 10am with a whole load of luggage!

We arrived at the Barcelona port about 10.30 were checked in and boarded by 11.00.
From memory the last passenger disembarkation time was about 09.30.
Hope this helps.
Enjoy your cruise.
Thanks, hope you had a great time!

It would become a problem if all people ignore the given times and arrive early at 10.30 as it is always suggested here.

Hmmm yes I get your point! I certainly wont be there that early. What time do passengers finishing their cruise have to be off by?
-
No problem checking in early. Another guideline Royal has no interest in maintaining.
Thanks!

Hi all
I received our Setsail passes today for our sailing on Symphony leaving on 14th Oct🎉
It states that we should arrive at 1.30pm. I had hoped to be onboard earlier as our hotel transfer is booked for 11am. Is an earlier arrival time likely to be a problem ie are they fairly strict about time of arrival to ensure that all guests don’t descend on them at the same time?😀 Thanks

Thats great, thanks!

Thanks. Have made a reservation for the Solarium Bistro to try that out also, it seems to come well recommended! 👍🏻

This will be my first time sailing with RCI and trying to decide whether to buy a dining package for Symphony. Did anyone who bought this do so because they werent happy with the main restaurant menu or found it too repetitive or did you just fancy a change trying different venues?
-
No one really cares anymore, the cruise line does not enforce dress suggestions. You will see the full range of attire.
Thanks! I had heard that all sorts had been seen, hate the idea of feeling inappropriately dressed though. Are there many children/teenagers in the main dining room or is it a more adult appropriate environment/menu? We did Princess Cruises many yrs ago and it was quite a formal environment.
