  1. I got moved up from a prime concierge to a Sky suite for my upcoming cruise.  My understanding, backed by some research, indicates that I carry to the Sky Suite whatever amenities I had from concierge, but nothing more unless I pay for it.  Specifically, I have basic Wi-Fi, the premium beverage package (only because I upgraded when I was in concierge, my concierge OBC, and my gratuities, although I believe my gratuities might possibly be higher because they are higher in suites.  I did hear that most of the time they tend to forget about extra charges, but i would not bank on that.  Beyond that, everything anybody else gets in Retreat, you get!

  2. Hi All - I have a suite booked on Beyond coming up soon.  My wife was looking at the Luminae dinner menu, and she says it may be difficult on some nights for her to find something she is interesting (she is not a big fan of French cuisine (think sauces)).  I know you can usually get "classic" menu items, but I heard that is it.  Also, I heard that "Blu" is also possible, but that depends on availability.

So here is the basic question - As a Suite passenger, is there any restaurant onboard (excluding specialty restaurants and Blu) where I won't be seated for dinner?  Or stated more directly, if we see something on the Main Dining menu, can we just go to the Main dining room?  From what I have read, I'm thinking yes, but I'm looking for someone's actual experience.  I heard this is possible on some S-class ships, due to closeness of MDR and Luminae, but not sure about Beyond.

    Thanks, Gary

  3. I’ve tried a move-up several times, I’ve never got a rejection email; got nothing.

But yesterday, I was reviewing old emails and came across a move-up email for my upcoming Beyond cruise on April12.  For the heck of it, I submitted an upgrade from infinite veranda to a Sky Suite, and this morning I got a notice that my move-up bid was accepted.  My bid was on the weak/fair border, but needless to say I was shocked.  So who knows-keep hoping!

  4. Just to close this out from OP point of view.  I took pre-cruise proctored Covid test and am still testing positive.  So I am in the process of trying to contact Celebrity to let them know and get everything cancelled.  I did manage to get my “flights by Celebrity” cancelled, but not without a $200 pp cancellation fee (figures, no more flights by Celebrity for me), but I have had no luck getting the actual cruise cancellation taken care.  It’s basically “Celebrity Hell”!  Why doesn’t Celebrity have a dedicated number for these last minute cancellations?  Terrible!  Oh well, I guess there are options for my next trip, which I will probably explore.

  5. Maybe some of you haven’t noticed in the message sent out today, but Celebrity  has done done wordsmithing about what happens when you contract Covid onboard.  From now on, it’s all yours baby!  Celebrity will provide options, but your wallet will be the one opening up, not theirs.  All in all though, it’s about time!

  6. Sounds to me like Celebrity is starting to transition back to pre-Covid times; or in other words, if you get sick on our boat, it’s your responsibility, not Celebrity’s, to get your butt home.  And say good bye to FCCs.  But…. I’m ok with being responsible for my own situation!

  7. Thanks for all the input.  We are scheduled to fly into FLL on Sunday, boarding on Monday.

Right now, it’s only me; my wife is not showing any symptoms.  Hopefully it stays that way.

I don’t expect that we will make this trip, but we will wait and see what happens.  We will take our proctored test with Emed on Friday, and if negative, we will likely go.  If positive, we will not.  As I understand it, I need proof of Covid to cancel and get refunds/FCC so I need to do the proctored test anyway.  I’ll probably take a couple self-tests as we get closer to gauge the probability, and go from there

  8. Hi all - I’ve been feeling crappy the last couple days with cough and stuffed up head; and this morning I self-tested positive for Covid.  What’s the latest process?  Do I keep quiet and hope the official proctored test comes up negative, contact Celebrity or my celebrity vacation planner to work through it, or is there some timeline that I need to be aware of to push refunds /FCCs/ Celebrity Air refunds taken care of - Thanks, Gary

PS: I’m scheduled on the Equinox for 10 days starting Aug 29.

  9. Our cruise departs on the 29th of Aug, and our luggage tags and all are E-Docs are showing pending, not able to be printed out.  I know you can get them at the port, but that is an un-needed hassle. To me, it’s just another brick in the wall for celebrity.  They need to restore their services to pre-Covid levels, and quit making excuses

  10. I usually book concierge class on Solstice class (Equinox) because I like the cabin locations available.  That is really the only reason, although daily snacks, and a cheap bottle of bubbly to enjoy as we sail away the first day is a plus.  I don’t like cabin locations for aqua, and don’t think Blu is worth it.  I would rather save the money I invested in being able to eat in Blu and invest it in Specialty dining.

  11. Hello all - all checked in for my Aug 29 cruise a couple weeks ago and printed out my express pass; but for some reason it is not possible to print out my e-docs or baggage tags.  E-docs link is grayed out and for baggage it just says pending.  I have a confirmed cruise and my cabin is locked in, but these items aren’t available.  Anyone else seeing this issue?  I’ve been on a lot of Celebrity cruises and this is unusual.

For some context...if half of the passengers on a given ship were CC members. Roughly 1,500 people. The actual number is probably higher. You would be asking them to reduce revenue from the current baseline by $75,000 per night. $525,000 on a 7 night cruise for 'loyalty purposes'. If that ship sailed with ~1,500 CC pax every night of the year, that is over $27mln in revenue on the year. Then multiplied by every ship in the fleet.

I'm not sure how you determine dollar value on CC extras, but unfortunately I think your email may go to the recycle bin before they finish reading it.

I think your percentage of cruise critic numbers / total cruisers is way-way off.  Someone did a study quite a while back on this site, and I believe the percentages they came up with were around 10%, more on the premium cruises, and less (as a percentage) on the mass market cruise companies. Next time you are on a cruise ship, as your fellow cruiser.  I did, and I found many people that never heard of Cruise Critic.  Also, look at the roll calls on this site.  Do you see 1000 different people on a single cruise’s roll call?

Finally, I don’t think Celebrity pays much attention to what is said here.  What they respond to are surveys, and more importantly, a drop in Revenue.  When they connect poor comments on a cruise survey to a drop in revenue, then they will stop to look around.  Until then, they ate fat, dumb, and happy!

  13. In my experience, all the “included” extras usually don’t show up until after your final payment.  Not that it has CC anything to do with the payment; I think that’s just the way it’s processed.  Like someone else said, call them if you want - but they will likely say “don’t worry”.

  14. Song of America in1985.  It was to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary.  We scraped and scraped to save money to go, decided it was the only way to go, but never thought we would go on as many as we have.  There’s been a few others that aren’t around any more, like the Norway and the Nordic Prince, which I think is probably still our favorite.  It was to Bermuda ( the good side, St. George’s and Hamilton)!

  15. Received an email from Celebrity with a reminder that I must wear a mask at all times indoors unless eating or drinking.  What types of masks are acceptable to Celebrity?  I assume neck gators or bandanas were probably not ( I wouldn’t wear one anyway), but I’m wondering if there are any specifics, like no ear loops, or must be wire across bridge of nose, or must be non-woven fabric versus the widely used cloth?  Anything?

    Thanks, Gary

There is no language in the policy that describes what happens if you fly to the port city early and test positive there prior to embarkation.  The obvious thing is to notify Celebrity and begin the process of cancellation and refund.

Then what? You can’t fly home. Celebrity has not committed to provide transportation in that situation - only if you test positive during the cruise.

I'm living in Michigan, so I'm flying down the day before.  I wouldn't fly down first and then take the test.  If I then tested positive down there I would be out about $2500 (two first class tickets).  Not a wise move; wouldn't recommend it to anyone without self-testing first

No, you would not be out of luck.  Cancellation because of a positive test within 14-days of cruising is not handled under the Cruise with Confidence policy, but under Celebrity's Healthy At Sea protocols.  Specifically, per the FAQs on Celebrity's web site, under "If I test positive for SARS-COV-2 right before my cruise, at the terminal, or on the cruise, what is your refund policy and what associated costs are covered?" you will find this:

    https://www.celebritycruises.com/healthy-at-sea/faqs

Let's hope you don't have to invoke this!   (But it you did, you'd need to contact Celebrity.   If you used a TA, I imagine you'd contact them, but I'm not sure.)

    Turtles06 -

I appreciate the quick response - I never looked in the "healthy at Sea" section; that's why I missed it.

    Thanks, Gary

  18. I’ve been looking all over the Celebrity site and here as well and I must just be missing the info I need.  If I test positive on my required Covid test 2 days before I board (US cruiser), what are my next steps.  Obviously, I will not be cruising, but who do I contact, and how do I get my cruise cancelled so I get all my money back (or FCC)?

I’ve read where I can invoke the “cruise with confidence” policy, cancel and request an FCC, but in reading the policy and FAQ’s, it seems to indicate that I need to request that no later than 48 hours before my cruise.  According to the FAQ on the Celebrity site, if I cruise on Sunday, which I do on Jan 9, I have to request the cancellation and FCC by the preceding Thu (which seems like 3 days to me).

So, what happens inside of 48 hours?  I would assume I’m not out of luck, but what are the facts?

    Thanks, Gary
