  1. You two realize that this thread ended in March and neither of the posters you quoted haven’t posted in the last 6-7 months.

And have done a few ‘crossings’, and realize Viking Ocean ships are smaller than Celebrity ships, the Celebrity experience isn’t exactly a ‘cattle crossing’ now is it. The good thing is on crossings, you aren’t getting on and off the ship with the large crowd every day. My personal and subjective opinion is Celebrity common areas are pretty nice and aren’t that crowded at all. But each to our own, but ‘cattle crossing’???

    Den

3500 people at the salad bar at one time, what would call it? Cattle sounds better than pigs!

  2. Ah, more posts from wonderful Viking cruisers mocking the elderly.

Just when one thought this might be two or three rotten apples spoiling the bunch.

    How pathetic.

Don’t knock it, until you have tried Viking . You get what you pay for! If you are lucky you will age also. We are 50ish and no longer doing cattle crossing cruises!

  3. We have 5 star taste but not the budget so I spend a huge amount of time choosing our holidays - whether water or land based. We have cruised on different cruise lines in different grades of cabin. We prefer Oceania but can't always afford it and are booked on Celebrity in Aqua next year as we enjoyed eating in Blu last time. Would we like to cruise on Viking? Yes, of course. But it really is a lot more expensive so we can't at the moment. Simples. We would also like to try Silversea, Regent or Crystal. Maybe one day. We see our current price "level" as Oceania or Celeb Aqua. I suppose we could try Azamara but not sure it would be any better. As the saying goes "you pay your money and your make your choice".

We have cruised on Viking Star last fall’Cities of Antiquities’. We are cruising Celebrity Reflection 10/1/18.

We have been on 20 cruises of various lines and Viking is the best. Booked on the Viking Homelands tour May 2019. I am closely comparing those cruises to the Celebrity Reflection. They are pretty close. The Viking ships are in the embarkation ports for 2

Days you do not have to pay hotel to arrive a day early, the airfare is usually included, no children, no casinos, no photographer, the tours are included tours are excellent,of course they have tours to purchase. 5* service. I have traveled the world and Viking is the very best. All balcony cabins, free self laundromat. Book early, now that word is out, there ships sell out quickly! Thanks

  4. My husband and I have a question about the optional tours offered on "Cities of Antiquity & The Holy Land." Naturally, we want probably the most popular ones that everyone else wants and since we are not high rollers, we are also in the last category to book (60 days out). Have most folks been able to get "Jerusalem & Bethlehem" ($149/pp) and "Nazareth & The Sea of Galilee" ($149/pp) online or have these typically been sold out? We are hoping to get these optional tours booked before departure as we know from experience that spending time checking back on MyVikingJourney, with Viking directly, or onboard at the Shore Excursion Desk can be both time consuming and frustrating. Thanks for any feedback!!

We did this cruise October 2017, we booked the entire cruise within 45 days of sailing. Some of the tours were already totally booked, however, once on the ship, you have the chance to be waitlisted for the booked tours and they also added popular tours. We were able to get the tours we wanted!
