FWIW, we drove down and parked in Weehawken, NJ, almost directly across the Hudson from the MCT. We stayed at a Residence inn located at the Weehawken ferry terminal. Hotel and 8 days parking were about half of what a comparable package would have cost across the river in Manhattan. Morning of the cruise, we jumped on the 8 minute long ferry ride and walked the 15 minutes north  to the MCT.

Thank you for this great idea!  A couple of questions, please.  Did you park at the hotel or at the ferry parking?  Also, what ferry ticket did you  buy?  We will be boarding the NCL Breakaway on October 27th.  We’ve never done this before and know nothing about the ferry system.

I'm booked on the 11/14 sailing and feeling equally in limbo about it. But on the other hand, I'm 45 minutes by car to the port and have zero investment beyond the cruise fare that I'll have

We are also booked on the 11/14 sailing and I also have a feeling it might get canceled.  Because I can’t stand the thought of not going on a cruise soon after so many cancellations, I’m going to play it safe and switch to Oasis in October.

  3. I’m thinking about changing my 11/14 Anthem to something sooner on Oasis.  We booked the Anthem cruise using a FCC and it has $200 OBC.  My questions are when we switch the cruise will we be able to use the FCC to pay for the new cruise, or is there a lag to reinstate the FCC before it can be used again?  Also, will we be able to keep the $200 OBC? Thank you for any advice you can give me.

  4. We were also on this cruise. We have been up since 245am New York time...we left on the 3rd flight out of Barbados and landed in Newark a little after 2pm. They chartered Air Canada 777’s which were very nice. Flight was smooth. I can’t say the same for after we landed. NCL had a few poor ladies to face 400 cranky passengers and I would describe the process of getting any info as chaotic. The only places they would take people were to the pier or Penn station. They only offered overnight accommodations for people with flights booked for tomorrow. There were several people that had come to the pier on chartered buses which would not return for them until tomorrow. They were told they would be driven to Penn station and then they would have to find their own way home. I felt terrible for them. We had used the Park, sleep, ride plan offered by the Hilton Garden Inn in Ridgefield Park N.J. They picked us up at Newark and drove us back to the hotel. By this time it was after 6pm and we felt that it wouldn’t be safe for us to drive home to Massachusetts so we opted to stay in NJ, at our own expense, better safe than sorry. Sadly, the whole experience was not what you would want for your dream vacation...

  5. vigie beach , check out the comments on others threads as opinion vary, don't to be bias as i am a beach chair vendor. there are no pushy vendors and 6 booths serving food drink n wifi 2 handicap washrooms 2 regular washrooms and 2 showers.

Castro1n3, how much is your service? We will be on your island on November 5th with NCL Gem.

  6. Call Hilton garden inn Ridgefield. They are 18 min from the port. Round trip limo to and from and free parking with your room for 309+ tax. Ask for brian

DO you have a direct number for Ridgefield? I called but was transferred to the generic line and the girl had no idea what i was talking about. Thank you!

  7. Maintenance on Tortola or on the Gem? :D

They didn't say, but we went from docking there, to tendering there, to not going there, so it might be a problem in Tortola. Very little info given, and while I'm disappointed, I will be on a cruise ship and that's good enough for me!:)
