  1. On our last Beyond Tour (~2500 Pax) we went to

    Raw on 5,

    Fine Cut,

    Eden,

    Luminae,

    Luminae,

    Blue,

    Fine Cut and

    Cyprus.

We had reservations for the speciality Restaurants (pre Cruise offerings), but not for the others. We never had any problems by just stepping in.

If your ship is fully booked or if your time is just the peak time of all others, your Butler or Retreat concierge will be happy to assist. 😉

Lucky you with the sun.  We had to divert to Bermuda, then the rain came and only stops once in a while.  Our friends are with you!!!

I really feel sorry about your bad luck with the rain and missing Ponta Delgada! 😣

At all:  To the topic caribbean or not: since we live in Middle-Europe, Caribbean sounds like heaven to us and we are eagerly looking foreward to do a Caribbean Cruise this year! 😎🏖️

I think, it's always this part of the world, where you don't live. 😉 And as there are not so much "X-Options", we will do it on a Royal-ship. Do you think, this is not an option? (I know, this is the Celebrity forum, but 🫠)

Last year we found out that Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro would not take Euros too.

Well, I think that you are not completly correct.... 🤔

Turkey, of course, not in the European Union, NO Euro. ✔️

Croatia, difficult. You are correct ✔️ for the last year. Since Jan., 1st 2023 they DO have Euro 💶 as the only official currency.

Montenegro, even more difficult 😳. They are not part of the European Union, and not part of the Schengen protokoll. And even more they do not belong to the EZB (European Counterpart of the FED). But, since they don't have an own curreny, they USE the Euro 💶.... 🤔 😖

I was just preparing our cruise to Croatia and Montenegro.... 😆

  4. There were so much reports on TAs, that I started a look on the (X and RC) Ships crossing the pond right now. They seem to me as quite a lot. 😳 Or am I wrong? 🤔

It looks a little bit like migratory birds on their way for summer.  😎🏖️

    All the best!

Barcelona, Cannes, Naples, Rome are places Ive heard of and have not been too.  (Actually, Ive been to Barcelona but my wife hasn't and I think she would enjoy it)

I'm not familiar with La Sezia, Ajaccio, Cagliari, Valletta, Messina. Those are likely places I'd never go to if I don't book this cruise.

We do a few days before and after a cruise, whenever it's possible.

BCN is so wonderful,  I could stay there for a week as well... Rome, well I felt there were manymany tourists...  Uuups, I'm one of them. 😳

On portdays we use guided tours very seldom. We just walk off the ship and watch people.  This worked perfect for us in Nepales (sitting in a pizzeria 🍕), Ajaccio (following the smal arrows with the "N", to follow the footprints of Napoleon), Valletta (have a look into this marvellous church, used by the knights of the order of St. John!), and even in Messina (can't remember, what we did there). I never have been to La Specia and I have no clue, if we had been to Cagliari - if yes, I wasn't very impressed.

Valletta/Malta is one of the most beautiful places if have ever been .... okay I'm prejudiced. I  married 💒 under maltese law on a Valletta/Malta registered Cruiseship. Please, don't ever try to understand or read Maltese language. It's impossible! (For example "Att Taz-zwieg" meens "certificate of marriage" 😳😆) But English is their second official language.  👍😎

Remember that on a cruise you pack once and see a lot of places.

In a land tour you are frequently packing and unpacking.

    That's it!

Seeing those wonderful Countries and Harbours and traveling between them over night seems the be the perfect way for a first look on Europe!

If you want to see the alps and Neuschwanstein, of course you should overthink, otherwise go for a wonderful Med-cruise an do a few days before in BCN and after in Rome!

    All the best!

  7. No personal  experiances on carnival, only the keyword of a Royal Captain, that "Royal ships are faster backwards (if needed),  than the most Carnival Ships go forward...."..

As for the difference between Royal and Celebrity:

Fun things are funnier at Royal,

Classy things are classier at Celebrity.

(Stolen from another Fred in this Board, but it hits the nail!)

The very aft cabins will be under the outdoor dining and may have less traffic/noise, especially very early and late.  Same for under the pool deck (forward of the atrium).

I think the majority of the complaints have been for those rooms directly under WJ.

We choose our JS on this class under the outdoor dining (as described above).

Well, in one night (on Brilliance) the Icemachine fell off the buffet. 🌊😳... that was a noticeable bang, otherwise we had no problems.

But: this JS are under the humps of the outdoor-WJ, sometimes there is not much sun . And, somewhere in this area (maybe only on the starboard side?) there is a ventilation for the garbagestorage. In the end of our TA there was a noticeable odour. 😷

These 'Problems' were all minor to us. I would book one of these JS anytime again!

  9. Both.... 🤪

We love Steaks. And we  got them in a perfect manner in Finecut.  Starters were  tuna tartar for her and  pepper pork belly for me. Main Courses Steak... 😉 - everything was fantastic.... but as already written above, everyone knows an outstanding Steakhouse.

Eden was a flashing new experiance for us, the food was wonderful and the sights.... 😲😎.

So, if I had to choose only one,  then it would be Eden. 👍

Has anyone booked with just the AI before winning a move up bid for a RS and above not received the Premium Drink package?  Or four device wifi?

    ...

We booked the Edge Villa a year ago with AI, and 4 device WiFi, daily specialty dining, the thermal suite, the Retreat, a large OBC (good for Sake bottles etc😉) and of course the premium drinks package were included. But I don't know if it is the same for a Move up. 🤔

To OP: the Villa ist fabulous for a TA Crossing! We wish you lots of fun! 😎

  11. Once there was a general and short comparison  between Royal and X (stolen from a board here in CC):

"Fun things are funnier at Royal, classy things are classier at X."

This I found especially true for Oasis and Edge. I did and will enjoy both!

    All the best

got home at 2 am this morning from my 10 day Jewel Italy, Greek Isles, and Turkey cruise. Give me a few days to catch up.

If you are right back from Jewel, you probably spoke to Capt. Michael. Yesterday he told us, that he was supposed to leave in Athens, but if he had left, there wouldn't have been a master for bringing the Jewel across the pond. I don't know, if it was a joke, or if there was a real problem with changing the command. Long story short: Michael Lindberg stays on Jewel till Port Canaveral. Ahoi! Cruise_Bear

  13. On the "what vaccines are accepted" page I found a passage dealing with booster shots:

    F

    What vaccines are accepted?

    A

Royal Caribbean accepts vaccines that are fully approved or authorized for emergency use by the U.S. FDA or the World Health Organization. A guest is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the required number of doses in their vaccine series have been fully administered (e.g. 2 shots of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, etc., or 1 shot of Johnson & Johnson).

    ...

For Cruises Departing from U.S. Ports

    ...

    Mixed mRNA Vaccines

For sailings departing from the U.S., the CDC will now recognize a mixed series of mRNA vaccines as fully vaccinated (e.g., 1 shot of Pfizer with 1 shot of Moderna, in any order). The doses must be administered a minimum of 28 days apart. The guest will be considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the final dose.

    Mixed mRNA with AstraZeneca Vaccine

Guests whose two-shot regimen consists only of 1 mRNA dose with 1 AstraZeneca dose will not be considered vaccinated. We continue to encourage the CDC and other U.S. government officials to re-evaluate this policy.

    Booster Shots

Guests who have received 3 or more doses of vaccine, due to booster regimens, will be considered fully vaccinated if at least one of these conditions is satisfied:

    • At least 2 of the doses are mRNA vaccines administered at least 28 days apart. The final dose must be completed at least 14 days before sailing.
    • At least 2 of the doses are AstraZeneca administered at least 28 days apart. The final dose must be completed at least 14 days before sailing.
    • At least 1 dose is Johnson & Johnson, completed at least 14 days before sailing.

For Cruises Departing from Ports Outside of the U.S.

    ...

So, in rare cases (Astra + mRNA + mRNA) "fully vaccinated" can mean the third (booster) shot. Or do you read it in a different way?

    Cheers

I would suggest a nicely written note to Michael Bayley expressing your opinions of the mixed vaccination policy announcement ...
    mbayley@rccl.com

    Really a good idea!

    And that's what I did.

I'm sure, that they will not (maybe cannot) change this policy right now. But if they arn't aware of the problem, none will take care of it!

Till November (for us) there is quite a bit of time, so hoping for the best, but expecting....

    Stay safe!

Yes, vessels that are intended for less than 24 hour itineraries, and those operating in "near coastal waters", which for the countries bordering the Baltic Sea is defined as the Baltic, meet separate regulations, and are not required to have passenger muster drill.

Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge
