I found something interesting while reviewing my Feb 9, 2020 reservation and looking through the activities list, Laser Tag is not anywhere to be found !! Maybe, just maybe, (please, please) they are reading these posts and Spice will make an "encore"!! (couldn't resist that). Could I have missed it in the list??

Anyone else check their reservation and find something different?

I'm booked for 12/1/19 and after I read your post I went and checked my rez, it doesn't list laser tag. I'm with you 100% with wishful thinking!

  2. There are 2 STT beaches that I would recommend, Magens Bay & Saphire. It is very easy to find a taxi and you can also request a specific time for them to return you to the ship. Definitely allow time for traffic when planning your travel time.  STJ has the most beautiful beaches and I would highly recommend the ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay, then hop on a open air taxi for a Northside beach tour and then some shopping before catching the ferry back.  I would only do this option if you have at least 8 hours in port.  Again, allow time for traffic.  I love STT & STJ!! Have fun!

The first sailing will be a 2-nighter industry cruise into Southampton.

I’m on the transatlantic and will either do a “live-from” thread or simply document the ship as time allows.

I think it'll be most interesting to see how the ship comes-alive once it hits the Caribbean itineraries.

Looking forward to your "live" report! I'm booked on the Dec 1st sailaway and will be anxiously looking for reviews from all that post.

I'm pretty damned salty about the loss of Spice H2O.  It's by far my favorite area to spend time during the day, and now what they've basically done is make it an entirely paid feature.  Even if I was willing to tack another $420 on for my wife and I to get access, we managed to convince another couple to come with us on our January 2020 cruise.  If they want to come hang out with us they'd have to fork over that money as well, and to be honest they're not quite as "financially blessed" as we are.

I'd be tempted to cancel, but the other couple is making installment payments on this cruise because that's how they can afford to go at all.

I guess this is what I get for wanting to cruise on the "new hotness".

I am also feeling a bit salty here … if it wasn't for our friends wedding planned on this particular cruise I would've changed ships already. It's going to be tough with 4 days at sea.

  5. Did a private tour with Marva Shaw Tours from Ocho to 9 Mile and it was awesome! Drove through some beautiful scenery to get there and we had the best guide when we got there, his name is Capt'n Crazy and you can find him on youtube.

  6. I have been fine in forward cabins before!

It's not like you're on a 20 foot motorboat chopping through waves. :D

I will be in a B6 on nine 1 week from tomorrow!!! I would choose a larger

balcony forward over a tiny balcony midship any chance I had.

Either way you will have a great time I am sure!

  7. Plan to visit St. Jonh on my own taking taxi and ferry. Got snorkeling gear, but do we need to rent the boat out to do some snorkeling or can we just walk right off the shore. It will be our first time there. Also, how deep is the water, I'm not a strong swimmer, should I get a snorkel vest, or rent one?

Hi Sue, not sure when you are cruising, or if you have already but there are some beaches along the North Shore Road that you can snorkel from the beach, no need of a boat. The closest to Cruz Bay would be Hawksnest. I would not rate it as the best on island but there are plenty of fish to see. First time I ever visited that beach I ended up snorkeling with a sea turtle, was very cool! Trunk Bay has the snorkel trail and Maho is good along the far right side and around the corner. Also, if you head to the middle of Maho and swim a fair way out to where the bottom gets grassy, you may see some turtles! :)

    Enjoy, STJ is BEAUTIFUL!

  8. Hi, there is a GREAT place at Mongoose Junction on your way out of Cruz Bay headed to the North Shore road which brings you to where the closest and beautiful beaches are. It is called Deli Grotto, you will see it on the R-hand side across from the National Park building. They have YUMMY sandwiches, salads, soups and to die for pastries, especially the coconut chocolate bars!!!! Enjoy St John, it is our fave island ... so far!

  9. We were in cabin 9124 port side. It was also very quiet the entire cruise in the room and on the balcony! The breakaway backed into most of the ports though. So the starboard side had a better view of most of the ports. Im not sure if the Getaway is going to have fireworks too, but on the breakaway the fireworks went off on the port side. So we had a perfect view of the fireworks while relaxing on our balcony away from the crowds!

I am hoping that the Getaway sets them off towards port side as well. I booked cabin 9132 for the balcony size and to hopefully watch the fireworks from there! So glad to hear that you enjoyed your B6 cabin!
