3/4 stars more on the side of 3 take a look at the Marriott Quincy. It's a full service hotel, but nothing fancy. Sometimes its in the low to mid $100s, sometimes it can be expensive for what it is. But never as expensive as downtown Boston.

    Thanks

  2. I have family picking me up at the cruise port in mid-September.  Looking for a safe area 3 - 4 stars outside Boston.  They will be driving up from Virginia and need a place to sleep but nothing fancy.  Any recommendations?

  3. Hi,

Looks like there are two roll calls for this cruise, so I'll try to figure out which one I should follow

Joining the TA portion of the cruise for now.  Now sure I can add the other two weeks and the cost since I'm sailing alone for now.

I've been on one cruise in June (another line in Bermuda) and will be on a California coastal in Oct on Princess.  Can't wait to get back onboard again.  I miss cruising.

Please add me to the M&G.  If anyone has any tours and can add one extra, let me know.

    Thanks

Hi LinP,   If you don’t mind, which Avalon boat did you travel on?  We’re doing Festive Time on the Legendary Danube, Prague (3 hotel nights prior to the river cruise portion) to Budapest 12.4-12.14.2018 and leave 4 weeks from today.  Looking forward to it but hoping for a bit of rain.  You never know.  I’m glad you had a great trip.

just curious, we’re you even offered a chance to cancel?

    Welcome home.

    We were on the Panorama

We were not offered a cancellation but there were 30 ish people who cancelled. We were told we would be receiving a 50% refund for each of the two days we were in the hotel. I’ll be watching for that in the next couple weeks.

  5. Hi,

I've just returned home from my trip on the Danube on 2 Nov.

We were scheduled to sail from Budapest to Prague (last two nights in hotel in Prague)

We were not able to join the ship in Budapest with the water levels, but we were put up in a hotel for two nights then taken to the ship in Bratislava.  The rest of the trip was traveled as planned with no ship swaps or other changes.

Avalon did a great job keeping all the excursions and services as close to the original plan as possible.  Mother Nature sure has been tough on that region this year.

It was a fantastic trip - glad we didn't panic and cancel.

  6. We are enjoying our last two days of summer in Passau, today and tomorrow. The river levels are falling slowly.

For all you rain watchers and dancers, looks like your wishes will be granted.

Temperatures will drop from 26°C on Friday down to 11°C on Monday, so time to pack your long johns.

From Saturday, we are expecting 4 days of heavy and continous rain, which should improve the river levels.

So things are looking up. Keep dancing.

Thank you for the update - I'll keep dancing

  7. Thanks for starting this thread.

We will be stopping in Reykjavik next year for one day on a cruise (hopefully, weather permitting).

Looking for a great private tour for 8 - 10 people for the day to get a good feel for the country (as much as you can in that short of a time).

Anyone have some suggestions for us?

  8. Just back from the Med.

We had a wonderful day in Athens with Paul from Athens by Taxi. We did the full day tour which included the Parthanon then out the coast to the temple of Posidan.

We did a lunch stop at a great restaurant.

If you get the Professional tour guide, make sure you communicate how detailed you want them to go. Ours went too far into the history of everything - after 15 min at each stop, we just were falling asleep. Our fault for not communicating we just wanted brief discriptions so we could see more. She did a great job, just too much detail for our group.
