  1. Hi!Thank you for your question.

As a luxury brand experience we make very few announcements on board. As our crew are all bilingual at a minimum in English and French (amongst many other languages too, as we are a global brand experience), when we do make announcements they are all in fact in English and French.

By the way all of our printed documentation such as menus, daily programs, newspapers, etc., are in English and French too at a minimum.

Thankyou again for your question. Come and sail with us to experience Ponant for yourself.

  2. Thank you for booking two Ponant Cruises. We love partnering with Backroads, so you have certainly made a great choice in the way you will experience Ponant. Either through Backroads (your first booking) or through Ponant (your second booking), I’m confident that you will return home with great memories of a lifetime.

I sailed around Iceland last July on our newest ship, Le Laperouse, and the destination as well as the ship were both outstanding. I have alsosailed around New Zealand and that trip and country were both one of my all-timefavorite trips!

Due to our partnership with Backroads, you are really their clientfirst, so that booking will not count towards our Ponant Loyalty Program.

As well, when you sail on Ponant through Backroads, Backroads ensures that all of your individual guest excursion needs are satisfied directly through their own shore excursion program. Therefore, there should be no need to be on a Ponant excursion. You will be in good hands with the Backroads’ Onboard Team, who will accommodate your excursion needs while you are on board. <o:p

You will be credited for our Loyalty Program on your direct Ponant booking only. <o:p

Thanks for your questions and enjoy both sailings!</o</o</o</o

  3. Hi gnld, thank you for your question.

While we are indeed a French line,we aim to provide a global experience across the brand and our crew are all bilingual in English and French at a minimum, with many others fluent in three or more languages.

While we try to keep overhead announcements to a minimum, those are also broadcast in French and English and all of our printed materials(including menus, brochures, newspapers, etc.) are available in English and French.

  4. Bonjour! Thank you for your question. As the only cruise line flying the French flag, we certainly share your enthusiasm for all things français.

We are checking with our team in France that manage the Match relationship and will come back to you shortly with more details.

Please check back later on in the week when we publish further information for your question.

    Merci!

  5. Thankyou for your interest in the new icebreaker. We’re all very excited for thelaunch, too. You may have seen that we’ve just revealed the name for the ship -Le Commandant Charcot, named in honor of the “gentleman of the Poles,” CaptainJean-Baptiste Charcot.

We are still planning for a 2021 launch date, and untilthen we are doing our best to continue sharing updates with our loyal guestsand followers as they become available.

Our focus will of course continue tostay on the innovative environmental protection technology on board the shipincluding the advanced “Cleanship” equipment that will use Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to reduce SO2, NOₓ, CO2 and particleemissions along with a hybrid electric mode that will allow for periods of zeroemission.

Thank you again for your interest in the ship, we will make sure youcontinue to stay up to date as we work toward her inaugural journey.

  6. Yes, guests can absolutely book independently onto any available PONANT sailing.

In fact, due to the small size of our vessels, many larger groups optto privately charter the ship for their event meaning that individual guests are not impacted whatsoever.

Regardless of the scenario, the on-board experience for each and every guest is of utmost importance to us and we do our best to ensure that a group booking does not interfere with other guests on-board.

    Thank you for your question!

  7. First things first, we are just as excited to have you sailing with PONANT next year! That itinerary is certainly a special one.
