When we cruised on the Epic last year we were in the Haven so we had the access to the Posh Beach Club.  We purchased passes for our extended family members that were not in the Haven so they could hang out with us in Posh.  That was before the huge price increase.

While it is not as fabulous of the Vibe, we enjoyed our time in Posh.   We used it mostly every day and it was a great meeting point for us.

The benefits for us are always having a sun lounger available and great bar service.    We would not sail on the Epic again without access to the Posh.

Thanks and yes it is a expensive upgrade and was pondering it myself.

Do you have any pictures, it is an overly large area, do you happen to know the bar hours??

  2. Let's talk all things....

    "Posh Beach Club"...

    Curious on this so...

Is it worth the extra $$?

Did you use it as much as you thought?

    Would you purchase it again?

What befits did it provide and what you like the most?

Let me know your thoughts and your experiences...TIA...

Yes, I have.  Interesting layout.  I. have never been on a bad vacation or a cruise, even when the airline lost my luggage and I spent 2 weeks without it.  Things happen. So, I am sure this one will be fine.  I probably just need an attitude adjustment. Thanks.

cruiseny4life - thank you for the heads up on the balcony.  It is worth a try. 🙂

I hear ya as most stateroom bathrooms are so damn tiny they are not worth the space...

    This is a unique layout...

ICON OTS puts up a good fight with an ugly face, gaudy colors, and an unattractive rear but Epic will be the undisputed and undefeated Ugly Emeritus of the cruise industry.

Don't think so, Icon will be the undisputed champ on fugly, wait it already it is outside with the pimple at the bow and the inside packed to gills, uea a floating wannabe shopping mall...

There you go, not the exact cabin but identical, a little further ahead & port side, views out the balcony should 95%+ mirrored yours ... lifeboats are 2 decks below.  Bed and sofa location is just like yours - cabin 9190 video is older, taken in 2015.

    https://youtu.be/Aq38rx_dfbM

There are 2 bright, flexible LED lights bedside that swivel but no USB charging port next to them, unlike newer NCL ships fitted with one.  Bring a EU 2-pin 220V outlet adapter along to make the most use of the limited 110V outlets, all cleverly hidden under the desk/dresser table along the wall, opposite the bed.  Light switch for the vanity mirror/sink is under the cabinet, not on the wall - just bend your knees and look under - gifts from the ship's French designers, LOL.  Optionally: two 10 ft. USB extension cables for charging acros the room, air freshener for the toilet closet and 2 to 4 bulldog clips or alike to bind the sliding shower curtain, for privacy while changing and in the shower area ... and, there is no extra (if any) shelf to put your clothes .... be creative.  When not in use, we bring the mini coffee table on the balcony into the room to use

    Great info, thanks for that!!

Epic looks like a beautiful ship but people can't seem to get over the room layout....??

Using deckplans on other sites, it appeared that this port side balcony cabin (unobstructed view - no lifeboats in front/adjacent) sleeps 3 with the bed nearest to the balcony.  The convertible sofa pulled out fully for a 3rd guest, next to the in-room (small) sink/vanity - this is ideal and preferred over one with the bed near the sink & close to the 2 toilet/shower "closets".

FYI, be sure to fully pull out (ask room steward for help if necessary) - if not extended - the mattress/foundation or base to sleep, especially if over 5' 8" to 5' 10" or else, feets will be hanging over the end of the mattress ... but, it does reduce the "space" to/from the balcony.

    Thank you for the 411!

Just wished there was some pictures of the actual cabin...

  7. Hello!

Will be sailing on the Epic in November and have cabin 9214 booked.  So with that said I am curious about the layout, is the bed at the front of the room or by the balcony? Additionally how is the view from the balcony,  unobstructed, no lifeboat below?

So to those whom have stayed in this cabin, pictures would be greatly appreciated!! TIA

I am the minority opinion but I would sail Epic over Breakaway.   Breakaway was the over-correction from the Epic.  Yes Breakaway did correct some of the quirks like the split bathrooms, made the walls straight and not curved, added an outside area for restaurants, etc.  But IMHO Epic is a superior ship.  The venues are bigger and better.  Epic got such flack that Breakaway suffers from any innovation and is just a modern basic ship.

The room setup is definitely odd but we can live with it. But seeing how this is our first time on NCL different is good IMO...

That was going to be my question as well. Haven't sailed on the Breakaway yet, but the experience on Epic is very different if you're in their regular 'odd' cabins vs sailing in the Haven.

Having said that, our very first NCL trip was on Epic with 3 people in a club balcony and we not only survived but took 10+ other NCL trips since then. Returning on the Epic for the 3rd time next month. Full disclosure though, the last Epic trip and this upcoming one will be in Haven.

Thanks and nice to hear as after looking into this ship there are some not so nice reviews on her. Had me wondering but I know take those with a grain of salt as some like to complain to complain. Nice to hear you enjoy this ship, thanks for your post.

We were considering the Haven on Epic.  I had read that it was, by far, the nicest.

However, the price for the Haven (an older ship, and not in the greatest shape) is higher than the Breakaway and Breakaway + ships.  Also, I'd rather sail from Miami.

I hear ya on sailing out of Miami, but I have never sailed out of Orlando so....

Thanks for the post and being new to NCL never heard of the haven.

Having sailed on both a few times, I’d recommend the Breakaway over the Epic, especially to a newcomer to NCL. NCL’s Waterfront concept was introduced on the Breakaway, and it definitely serves to help one feel a connection with the water. The Epic doesn’t offer that. Many people find the split bathroom configuration on the Epic unappealing. The ship isn’t the best representation of NCL’s offerings.

I have seen the shower/bathroom setup and it does no bother us, why have that tiny space of a bathroom given to it??

Seems like that is the deal breaker for this ship....

For us it was 5 day vs 7 day, if we are going to fly to FLA let's make it longer...

    Thanks for the reply!!!

The deciding factor for me would be is:

From where you live which would be easier to do:

         (A) Flying into or out of Orlando, Florida (Epic)

         (B) Flying into or out of Miami, Florida (Breakaway)

Is there a difference in the price of the airline fares between the two cities?

Either ship will be fully booked for a cruise over Thanksgiving and more expensive than a week or two in front of or behind Thanksgiving.

Surprisingly the difference of a non TG cruise for me was about $400, being the airfare was a bit more because of the holiday.

Expected them to be packed because of the holiday but the Mrs and myself have never cruised during the holidays so figured why not try this year and on a new cruise line!!

  12. Was thinking about either a mid November cruise or a Thanksgiving cruise this year. And being I am new to NCL and not cruising, I was pondering these two ships?

Please for those whom have sailed them give me your thoughts, likes, dislikes?

One thing.  RCCI had a similar 'diner'.  Teenagers took it over as their space and RCCI had to make it a 'for fee' to keep the teenagers away.

True was it the hamburger place??

Also found the Pizza place on the Allure like that, never a place to sit...

On my cruise on Celebration later this month. Is stay that it is for people with little to no mobility. Is that correct?

We sailed Celebration thus past March and no, the tour had lots of walking, stairs, up and down, we went all over that ship.

If you have a mobility issue I personally would not do it or recommend it, just my thoughts....

Only because you had an interest.

If I received a follow up call every time I did a mock booking I'd soon grow to hate them.

Fortunately, i do most of those through my TA's website, so NCL does not see it.

Well that is you and I do appreciate it, it you don't want them calling you just put a fake number in the 411...😉

    TA they are still around???🤣

That's called aggressive marketing, my friend. It's all about making the sale.

I have cruised with NCL a few times over many years and booked on another leaving in 2 weeks.

A few days ago I was playing around with a mock booking that required me to put in some ID info to get the pricing. The next day I got that same call about finishing the booking. Their system also sends out emails for the same -  suggesting that you finish your booking.

    Just business.

True but NO other line that I have tried has called me...

    Carnival, RCCL, Celebrity, HAL...

    So I can appreciate this...😉
