We love to cruise and are pretty unapologetic about it. We get comments from a few friends - I just smile. Let them be snarky. I'll be ordering a Dirty Banana and watching the ocean :) We've actually turned family and some friends on to cruising. Now they get it! 6 of them are joining us on a NYE cruise this year.

Seriously, though, for me it is a chance for the 3 of us (myself, DH and DS) to be unplugged from the rest of the world and spend time together. If we choose to do that on cruises it's nobody's business but ours.

DH and I have just this week begun to consider an Alaskan cruise and I think you've sold us. Dumb question - which would be better, in your opinion, a port or starboard side balcony? I know we'd get to see both sides as we change direction on the return, but from previous experience I know that sometimes the ship moves faster on the return to port, so you may not have as much time to really observe/take pictures from your balcony.
