Encountered rays in Cozumel, completely in the wild, and we were not feeding them (nor was anyone in our vicinity).  One in particular enjoyed bumping up against my legs (we were waist-deep at a sand bar at that time), and if he was swimming past I'd put one leg out and he'd pet himself by gliding along the side of my shin.

I've also done the Stingray City tour at Grand Cayman, where there are dozens (hundreds) attracted by the regular feeding by excursion operators.

Absolutely nothing to be worried about - just enjoy the beautiful clear water and soft, majestic sea flap-flaps!

Think big kitten.  Soft and love to rub themselves on you.  And you can see all the way through them from top to bottom.  Thumb DOWN when feeding from your fist (mouth is kind of like a file).  And the barb looks like a triangular "rat tail" file but as long as you don't pet from tail to head you won't even know it is there.  Our favorite activity in Grand Cayman.  Couple of weeks yet before trying it at Blue Lagoon.

Ahhh I will have to let you know how we get on! I never thought I would be this nervous!! xx

We booked this at the end of January for my wife and granddaughter. Only one sting ray showed up. Guide told the crowd, "Don't let it go." The first person let it go. Bye bye sting ray. Wife and granddaughter were switched to Dolphin experience at no extra cost. Turned out to be a better deal.

    P.S.The stingers have been amputated.

Ahhh no but ahhh yes at the same time? Good customer service though. I think the animals should be left to come and go as pleased really. I am glad they sorted you out though x

We did a string Ray excursion at Stingray City in Grand Cayman.  There were literally hundreds of stingrays all around us as we fed them.  They were very docile and it was a beautiful experience.  I would encourage you to try not to worry and enjoy the experience!

I am guessing they still had there barbs attached then. Where as from what I have read they remove them in Blue lagoon, which is another thing I am unsure of. I hope this is not painful for them.

Ahhh dear working my self up terrible haha.

I watched some nice videos but always think it will end up being me haha.

  5. Hi Everyone,

Dont be sorry. You are being proactive.  Many come to CC after their cruise to complain about a bad experience.  You being here now is a great positive, learning in advance. I wish more would do this, to enhance their vacation.

Ahh thank you, appreciated, sometimes I worry about asking questions on here as I see a lot of people get shot down very quickly.

Thanks for your comments though they are massively appreciates I just want to experience everything and ask ask ask so I can have the best cruise possible!!

About the fifth question on this in the last couple of weeks.  But you are not going to see much of the island anyway.  Labadee is a tiny peninsula on the north coast and with the exception of a couple of local excursions you can't get out of the area.  Nor can any locals get in, except those working there.  Port au Prince is 85 miles away over very rough mountainous roads.

Sorry I did try to look for other posts first but couldn't find anything.

This is my first cruise so not aware of protocol when it comes to these situations so please bear with me.

    I did apologise in advance.

  8. Hi guys,

Going on our first cruise on the 29th March and was wondering if the update on the government travel would stop us porting in Haiti.

It suggests only essential travel, but obviously it is far away from Labadee and it is privately owned by royal.

Sorry if this seems a silly question to anyone but we haven't been before, and was just wanting to prepare for potentially another sea day or a different port.

    Thank you 🙂

  9. We are from the UK and we had the drink package included in our price! With flights from the UK to Miami, 2 nights stay in Miami and a 9 night cruise with the free drinks package it was £2600 which we thought was a good price considering the drinks package is around £400 each! They're currently doing all inclusive sailings again in the UK unsure what happens in the US and what offers they have!

A bigger review is coming later but it was a great trip.  We are now heading back to reality.

The food was very good in the main dining room and fun cruise overall.  Very sad situation in Haiti.

Wonderland was awesome and I wish I could have that chocolate dessert every night.

We also did Jamie’s Italian Restaurant.

    Lance

    Hi Lance,

So glad you had an amazing time!

We are boarding Harmony in march we are super excited, first time cruising ourselves.

I was wondering what the lines are like for the activities like the rock climbing and the slides? Were there long waits?

Anything you suggest to do in any of the ports? Which was your favourite port?

    Thanks in advance.

  11. Thank you for all you replies, I finally found them after hunting all night haha.

There not available at the moment it stays pending but we are still 70 odd days out yet! We are sailing on the Harmony in March, I am mega nervous but excited.

Is it possible to take two print outs one in my bag and one on our luggage and if it does get damaged least we have another copy?

    Thanks in advance.

My luggage tags became available online (click on "update check-in/SetSail pass" after you have logged into your account to view, then print) today at 49 days to go.

    They were not available yesterday.

They don't have my status indicated as they have in the past. 😞

Where is this? in the cruise planner?

That's not a bad price for Uber. I'd also recommend Uber. A shared shuttle will cost you $30.00 for the two of you. Agree, don't rent a car. :classic_wink:

What is a shared shuttle, is that like a shared taxi with other people? How would we sort one of these out?

    sorry for all the questions!!

We would have definitely used Uber (as often suggested here) but for some reason it rejected my credit card.  Crazy thing is there was nothing on the card and I used it with no problem that evening for dinner.  Rather than standing at the curb trying to get the Uber app to work we just jumped into a cab.

We never did get get the app to work, so we have now downloaded and used the Lyft app with no problems.  A lot of the same drivers work for both Uber and Lyft.

I would not hesitate to use Uber or Lyft in Miami!!  Have a wonderful cruise!!!

Thanks hun you have been a great help!!

I guess we were very lucky with our first trip to Miami and Port Miami in November.

After we landed for some reason my Uber app didn’t work so we hopped in a taxi to the hotel...driver could not have been nicer!  The next morning we took the Hampton Inn Brickell Shuttle to the port and again that driver was right on time and got us to the port just fine.

After the cruise we did self assist and walked right out of the terminal and got right into a cab.  Again...driver and cab were both fine and we arrived at the Miami airport in nothing flat!

We may change our opinion in the future, but as of right now I wouldn’t hesitate sailing or flying out of Miami again...

Glad to hear it was a good experience for you. Also nice to hear you were thinking of using UBER, puts my mind at rest.

Fort Lauderdale is a nice port!  I feel like it is FAR better organized.  There are plenty of shuttle services that offer transport to Fort Lauderdale from Miami.  I probably wouldn't use Uber or Lyft for that long of a trip, though.  I'll dig around to see who we used.  We had a great experience with shuttle from Miami to Ft Lauderdale's port--I think we paid $60 each way for a group of 7.

Yeah with Uber its coming in around $40 as there is only two of us. Sadly not many to split the price with haha. We used Uber a lot when we went to disney world in florida and had no troubles but for the last 3 years I decided to rent a car, which was very ODD driving on the wrong side of the road HAHAH. I had a few incidents but got very used to it easy!
