I was looking at this one as well. Seems like a good option if it's accepted to return home to Canada.

I'd be interested to see if anyone else with similar testing requirements has done this.

Are you just planning on doing these tests after you disembark and are back in the US? I was looking at these as well, wondering if we will have our results back, we have a 2:45pm flight back to Canada

Hi macfam5. The Switch Health ones can be done on the ship and you should have results within 30mins. Since there is a window of 72hrs to test before flying home, our group would probably "swab" on Thursday morning before heading off on our excursions. Although we will have the "ultimate" wifi package on the ship, I would hope that being close to land would make for less of a chance to have a spotty connection.

If you choose to test day of departure, you might be cutting it close......or paying an arm and a leg to get timely results.

Canadian airlines are putting pressure on the Feds now to allow fully vaccinated citizens to travel back using only a rapid antigen test. Not sure if this will happen before March Break, but my fingers are crossed. The $1350 is a bit steep. Guess we'll have to drink the cheap wine on board!! LOL

After I finish my carnival cruise….where can I get my test to return to Canada later in the afternoon?

We have a group of 9ppl cruising in March that will need to test prior to flying home to Ottawa from FLL. I've been looking on line at the "video proctor testing kits" (like SwitchHealth) and this seems to be the best option to order and bring with us - they are roughly $139pp CDN. We don't want to chance not being able to find a lab that might not be able to get us our results in-time for our evening flight.

I'd be interested to know what "kits" others have used for re-entry to Canada.

We could have used their selected hotel (Fort Points Dania Beach) and they would have paid the bill, or we could choose any hotel we wanted as long as it was less than $350 per night.  If we chose the 2nd option, we just had to pay and would be reimbursed later.  We chose the Embassy Suites 17 St.  We were also told we had $100 per person per day to spend on food.  This is the letter we got about what was covered

Wondering if Carnival has the same protocol for any passenger that tests positive while onboard. Anyone know? This would certainly take some of the pressure off knowing that if a positive test comes back for anyone in our group they'd be taken care of.

  5. Sorry if this has been asked and answered but when would Carnival advise passengers that their itinerary for their cruise is changing? Our family is set to sail on the Horizon on March 13th. When did passengers from past cruises get notified?
On the FB roll call board ppl have been posting that the Horizon is not going to the ports advertised and other ports are showing the ships arrival there.
I really don’t care either way. I just want the ship to sail with me on it!!!

enquire about behind the scenes tour

Not sure with the Covid restrictions if ships are doing these tours, but the one our family did on RCC of the Galleys was FANTASTIC. So impressed with how the food is prepped and the galley is run. We then had a fantastic private brunch with the tour group.

One thing I recommend doing is if you see something (like one of the behind the scene tours) that you want to do, sometimes the senior staff will negotiate a deal. We were 3 adults and 2 kids and they only charged us for the adults - $75 instead of $110. Just wait it out.

I really hope our CCL in March 2022 has these tours.

    Unpack.....unwind....and go with the flow.

John Heald spoke about this on his live chat this morning.  He said they are working on a communication to all who are affected by this which will identify what is needed.  This should be out shortly he said.

As one of the many Canadians that has the mixed AZ / Pfizer vaccine and is booked to sail on Carnival in March 2022 I'm hoping all of this will be resolved or a booster of Pfizer can be given to cover any travel requirements. I understand that my status at this moment isn't necessarily keeping me from sailing, however we are not spending all of this money to NOT be able to enjoy the port towns on our own and do excursions we want to do. Even at this, we would need to apply for the exemption that doesn't guarantee we'd even be approved to sail. We are a family of 9 with 3 cabins booked. I would hate to cancel this vacation that we have so looked forward to. I understand that RCC has lifted their restrictions regarding the mix and match vaccine....however I want to see how this plays out before I "jump ship". Fingers crossed.
