The mark-up on bottles of liquor is ridiculous, regardless of whether it is better than buying separate drinks.  Can I afford to order bottles?  Yep.  But, I won't do it on principle.  I get that mark-up on individual drinks creates the profit needed to keep things going.  The price of drinks on Carnival is no different than at a bar at a nice hotel, so I have no complaints about the price of drinks.  But, when the mark-up on a bottle of alcohol is 3-5 times what I can buy a bottle for, which is also already marked up, I'm not going to do it.

You'd think Carnival would get that if they lowered the mark-up a bit, more people would buy the bottles and Carnival will still make money.  Many people who have posted about this say they also have a bar tab at the end of the cruise regardless of whether they buy bottles or use an alternative method of acquiring their alcohol.  I always do, although never to the point of Cheers making financial sense for me.  Many people like the freedom of being able to make a drink in their cabin and then will hit the bars as well.  I'm all about profits to keep a business successful, but until Carnival stops trying to squeeze every last living penny out of us with these ridiculous mark-ups (now including delivery fees!), I'll look for alternative sources.

I agree as i've said before. The CHEERS package makes no financial sense to me. Paying over $800 for 7 days for us to drink is ridiculous. I get it for some people, it works for them. Like everything else in the world, some things work for you some things don't. Same thing with bottles to the room. I always use the bottle of Sky vodka example cause my lady drinks that. It costs over $100 for a bottle of Sky including delivery fee. That same bottle I can buy for $18 at home. I get marking it up. I completely get it but thats just insane markup. If it was like $50-$60. I might buy it but $110-$120? No. Once again, it works for some people otherwise they wouldnt have it, just not me. Out of all the times i've cruised with runners, only one time did they not make it. That 7 day cruise our total drink tab was a little over $400 for the both of us.

    Hello,

We are cruising on the Magic November 23rd.  Right now we have 106 people registered for the Meet & Mingle through cruise critic.  We also have a group page with 250+ members.  I have been posting on the group page for them to come here and register for the M&M, which is working out great.

My question is:  how can I contact the cruise director ahead of time to set up a specific day and time for the meet?  We also have a slot pull scheduled and would like to have the m&m first and then the slot pull right after.

I read somewhere that the current CD, Simon, is leaving the Magic before our cruise.  So, how do I find out the new CD and their email address?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I made a post on the one I just coordinated on the Carnival Conquest. I talked with the CD Mat Sequin literally soon as I walked onto the ship he was standing there. It was in the fun times the next day.

    If it

If its a Night Game On ABC I would think you could see it . I am an Ohio State fan and normally I always see Nationally Broadcasted games with them . But then you never know on a cruise LOL.

Its actually a night game. They moved the game to that Sunday back during the summer so it will be the only CFB game on that day.

I'm guessing you're talking about a M&M organized through Carnival that you've discussed on your roll call? I think the reason that those type of Meet & Mingles turn out to be a dud is because they're typically at an odd time (and day) when there's usually some other activity that most people are involved with. We've had better luck with Meet & Mingles  when they're organized by our roll call members (and NOT Carnival). Typically, the person that started the roll call will get in touch with the Cruise Director (in advance of Embarkation Day) to see if there's an area available (such as one of the ship's lounges or nightclub) that we could utilize, usually late morning or mid day on our first at-sea day. On our Vista cruise, we were able to use the Red Frog Pub. On our Magic cruise, we were able to use the Vibe nightclub. Based on past experience, you'll probably have about 1/10th to 1/4th of the roll call members actually show up. So, if you've got 100 members in your roll call group, you'll have somewhere between 10 - 25 people make it to the M&M. It might be worth your time to contact the cruise director on his/her FB page (or email) to see if he/she can help you.

I didn't think of contacting the CD. I will definitely do that.

You can do comparisons of cruise ships right on the Carnival website.  Just go to Explore>Our Ships.  You can pick up to three ships and then it will literally list everything each one has, so you can do a side-by-side comparison.

True but that doesn't compare to those who have been on both and can offer their takes. Going on the sites just tells you what each has and doesn't have which I already did. The post was to get others POVs on both.

I’d like to see at some point they make guys burgers 24 hours. JH has polled it a few times and guys always wins out over pizza. If guys or the deli were opened 24 hours I’d never eat the pizza.

Man i would love for them to do that! A nice Guy's burger or two while half drunk! Man!!
