  1. I've been to Bermuda a bunch of times. I'm not failure with that exact package, but I'll give some general advice. DO NOT do any cruise line excursions to the beaches. They are a waste of money IMO. It's so easy to get around on Bermuda, you can go to just about any beach you wish by jumping in a cab, or a mini bus. The Escape is a great ship, you'll have a blast. Enjoy.

Thank for sharing!  So nice to read a positive review!  We escape in September and are looking very much to it.

I'm going on the Escape BECAUSE of my gambling, so I love to hear that someone hit a hand pay.  We hit the casino late at night until the snacks come out, then we get a few more drinks and go to bed.  Terribly indulgent and fun.

Thanks! I really couldn't think of anything that wasn't positive the entire time! If you're going for the gambling, it's the right place lol. As I said, I saw several people getting hand paid! I didn't even know the casino had snacks? I guess we didn't stay late enough. Enjoy and good luck in Sept!

So happy you had such a great time! I love the Escape and will be sailing on her for my 4th time three weeks from now. I suspect your casino success contributed a lot to the overall success of the trip! When I was on the Escape in April, it was the first time I ever walked off the ship with more money that I started with from the casino and it wasn't by much! I usually have pretty bad luck, but I stick to a budget and have fun.

You mentioned you made enough in the casino for a couple more trips. Did you go ahead and purchase some CruiseNext deposits or even book something on board?

Thanks so much! Enjoy your upcoming trip! I hope you win again!

I thought about the cruise next program, but truth be told, I'm not sure we'll cruise again within the 4 year window. 99% of our vacations are all-inclusive resorts. My wife prefers that over cruising (tho she also had a fantastic time.) I read about the cruise next program, and it seems like a very good deal for frequent cruisers.

We were on a tour of the island a couple of years ago and we mentioned to the driver that we wanted a Bermuda fish sandwich.  He brought us to Woody's.  Maybe 2 miles from the dockyard but you can take the bus.  It was very good and you can eat there and sit outside and have a drink.  Not fancy and mostly locals but good. We were there around lunch time and it got crowded. We will be going back for another in two weeks.

Might have to hit Art Mel's and Woodys! Thanks for the info!

$10.00-$12.00 would at the high end. I believe that's what it cost me once and that was boarding around noon for a 7:00 p.m. Departure.

It's crazy how people complain about it. You've spent $$$$$ on a cruise and yet complain about a ridiculously minor amount.

    Crazy, right?

  6. Personally I like Teppanyaki, Cagneys, Le Bistro. In that order. IMO the quality of meats at Moderno is poor. And La Cucina is Olive Garden quality Italian at best IMO. To break down my choices, I feel like Teppanyaki is actually good quality food, and usually cooked perfectly. Cagneys is good, for what it is.. a steakhouse at sea. Don't expect NYC quality steaks, but it's still good. Le Bistro has been hit and miss in my experience.

I've just started gambling so just started  following the CAS threads so for now haven't seen this yet. I do however

try to not talk about my trips to the casino  with family and friends. Gambling like any other hobby has people who take it to the extreme and I have known people who don't pay their mortgage so they can gamble. Responsible gambling is not the same as someone who can't stop and destroy their personal finances in the process. I think some people assume all gamblers are like this. Just a guess.

There's been a touch of it in this thread, but not bad. Keep an eye out for it tho in other threads. Whenever the topic of gambling comes up on here, non-gamblers always make it a point to tell us gamblers how stupid gambling is. I guess it's just a sign of the times, people have a hard time minding their own business.

  8. This is a bit off topic, but I just have to get it out there..

To the gamblers: Did you ever notice that people on here seem to get really mad that we gamble? People make stupid comments like "waste of money" "you can't win" etc.. Why is it that some non-gamblers feel that they have to be in our business? Are they jealous that they can't afford to gamble? I like to gamble. It's a hobby. I have plenty of money to do it. If I want to blow $3,000-$4,000 on my upcoming cruise, it's my business. I can afford to lose it. It seems like on this site, people have a tendency to bad mouth gamblers, when in fact it doesn't affect them at all, and frankly, it's none of their business. I always found that interesting. Ok, gotta go now.. time to run to the Meadowlands and get my derby picks in!

We're big fans of Tucker's Bar at the Rosewood. Recently updated so its a little more beachy and a lot less British colonial but a very nice place for a drink. They also just put in a new Conservatory Bar near the entrance of the Rosewood that concentrates on gin-- its quite nice.

Great, thanks! Going to add this to my list of places to grab a drink. Thanks again!

As others have said-- Art Mel's Spicy Dicey is the spot and it does live up to the hype. Well worth the quick cab ride over. You order from the counter inside and most people just sort of mill about outside and eat or they pack it up in tin foil and we've brought it back towards the waterfront and ate it there.

Thanks for the info! I will definitely be stopping by there for a sandwich!

The casino “pays” for the room at an internal rate. They will “pay” for the upgraded room at their internal rate. They will charge you the difference in price for the upgrade. Which will be different than the rate you see on their website. The casino does not get free rooms to give away. They pay for the rooms and make it up with your gambling losses.

I never knew this before. The casino isn't it's own entity tho, is it? I was under the impression that CAS is 100% NCL owned. If that's the case, who is CAS paying for the rooms?

  12. So we've been to Calico Jack's (the bar on the boat in dockyard), Bonefish, Frog & Onion, Swizzle Inn, and the Hog & Penny.. Any other must try Bermuda bars? What's your favorites??

If the times you want do not show up on line just book as soon as you get on the ship. They hold at least 50% of the tables for those who book after getting on the ship. or you can call and see what they say. We have done it all ways: booked on line: booked via a phone call and booked the day of sailing. We usually get the time we want or within 1/2 hour of the time.

Great to know! Thanks so much!

  14. I don't understand why NCL doesn't just do a lottery? Simple, before your cruise, you enter the free lottery for vibe. Day before the cruise,

NCL draws 75 (or whatever) cabin numbers. If yours is selected, you got vibe.
