If you read MY post you'll see I didn't comment on you "criticizing" Regent, I said you shouldn't accuse them of committing a crime.  And I did "bother" to read your post.  You said " Regent have been very devious and, I suspect, mis-selling the cruise."  CLEARLY stating that they are purposefully committing fraud.  I don't care if you criticize, go for it.  But to actually accuse anyone of purposefully committing a crime is uncalled for.  So if you are going to challenge me to "read your post," perhaps you should be sure to read MY post.

Perhaps you found my comment "If you were offered a full refund, why are you making both an issue of the itinerary change and a baseless accusation?  What more, than a full refund, do you want."  Maybe... but still wondering... if you get a full refund, why are you complaining?  They changed the itinerary,. you were able to cancel for  a full refund... what's the problem?

It is very clear to me that you have misrepresented what The Rampant Snail has said. The poster said "I suspect". "Suspect" means "to have an idea or impression of the existence, presence or truth of (something) without certain proof". You say the poster has "accused" someone of "purposefully committing fraud." The two are quite different. You should apologise.

  2. If I may add a little anecdote which, to my mind, sums up the arrogant attitude to tipping that some people display.

On our Silver Muse cruise last April around Japan the American destination lecturer/expert (who, by the way, did not know that the Emperor of Japan was due to abdicate in a few days - some expert!) gave his insight into tipping. He explained that tipping is most definitely not part of Japanese culture. However, he said, in Japan I always offer a tip to a tour guide and if they are offended by it I don't give a damn!

On the Navigator now.  Our go to in Prime 7 is the wedge salad and crab cakes.  You cannot get these in Compass Rose.  We have tried special ordering and they will not do it.  Also, the filet and lobster tails are better quality in Prime 7 than in Compass Rose.  That said, we feel the cook on the grill in Compass Rose does a better job than the one in Prime 7.  We can special order in Compass Rose any dish on the menus of the restaurants not on the Navigator - lobster tempura.  If you have a butler, you can get lots of reservations in Prime 7.  If you do not have a butler, become friends with someone who does have a butler.  Tipping also helps with extra reservations.

I take it you mean bribes. Tosh if it is not true - despicable and not Regent as I know it if true.

  4. CBWIR - thank you for you kind comments and welcome.  As our next Regent cruise (which will be our first on Navigator) is not until 2020 I doubt I will have much to add until that cruise is completed, when I hope to be able report.

Travelcat2 - also, thank you for your kind comment.  Just to be clear, however, I have absolutely no issue with people reporting on their experiences or answering questions about accommodation, whatever the level.  That is a valuable resources.  My issue is with those who, apropos of nothing, state that they never travel in the highest levels of suite. That is pomposity that needs to be pricked.

  5. Although I have been following comments on Cruise Critic for some time now, and found it a very valuable resource, I have now felt compelled to sign up and make my first post.

Over the past 10 years we have been lucky enough to be able to enjoy a number of cruises, including three on Regent.  One of the delightful things I have found is that, with whomever you meet/dine with/converse, whatever their income level and whatever on-board accommodation they have there is no snobbery or bragging.  Conversation is delightful, informative and easy. Nobody has ever seen the need to announce the cabin they are in.

On the Cruise Critic boards (including this one and this thread) , however, there is a minority of posters who cannot resist bragging.  Often we see a phrase along the lines of "we never travel in anything less than Owner's Suite".  Well, that is perfectly fine if they can do that but are they so insecure that they need to broadcast the fact.

I cannot understand the dichotomy between what happens on board(ship) and on board (Cruise Critic).
