Hi, is there a store within walking distance of the port where I could buy a case of pop? We’re on the carnival Dream in February. We’ll be coming in late the night before from the airport via Uber and plan to walk to the ship in the morning.  Thanks for any advice.

I know this is about a year old now but did you buy a case of pop before getting on the ship? Where and how much was it? Were you able to walk there?

How did Uber work for you to get from the airport to your hotel or cruise terminal? What size Uber did you get and how many big suitcases and people did you have. We are thinking of doing this too.

    thanks

Uber is probably the most convenient option. We took one from our hotel next to HOU Airport to the port in Galveston and the cost was $38. I imagine it would be a bit more from IAH though. Perhaps check flights on Southwest into HOU as it’s 30 minutes closer to the port?

For $38 you must of took an Uber X then right? How many people and how much luggage did you have? Thanks

Hi, so there is my question. Anyone Uber between Galveston and Texas City? We plan to stay in Texas City prior to the cruise. We decided that as we are flying into IAH the evening prior to the cruise and we don't land until 6:20pm. By the time we get into the Galveston area it will be late enough that all we will want to do is get a quick bite then sleep so no reason to pay the high cost of hotels/rental cars in Galveston when they are dirt cheap in Texas City.

Just wondering how abundant Ubers are since we will need one to get to the ship and then back to get the car in Texas City after the cruise.

    thanks

    Hi,

Have you gone on the cruise yet? Just asking as to see how it went for you doing it this way. I’m thinking of renting a car from Hobby Airport and driving to Gaido’s in Galveston to spend the night before the cruise and then returning the car to a rental place in Texas City on Saturday. Would use Uber to get to the terminal then. $50 to rent a car for the day so not to bad imo.

    thanks

  4. Hi,

I’m thinking of doing the same thing. Renting a car from Hobby airport and dropping it off in Texas City or La Marque. Depends what rental place I get it from. Looks like it would be $20 or so for an Uber from there to the port. We are flying in late Friday night and leaving on the Vista Saturday the 25th. Had planned to take Uber but it would be $90 minimum plus tip for 4 people and 4 large suitcases. Couldn’t just an Uber X with that much luggage and 4 people right?? This way we would have a car for the night and morning before the cruise to stop at a store or two. We are staying at Gaidos Friday night. Would drop the luggage and family off at the port then return the car and catch an Uber back. Not sure if many people do this but if there are people waiting for an Uber or something at the car rental place I would definitely have no problem sharing one with someone if I saw someone doing the same thing. Would be a cheap way to get back.

Has anyone did this type of thing?

    Thanks

  5. I placed a bid on a balcony stateroom when I got the original Royal Up email. The minimum bid was $100. I put in $110 bid. A few days later I was trying to up the bid to $160 but it kept saying not successful. I called Royal to see why I couldn’t raise the bid. They said keep trying or I could cancel the bid and try again. I canceled the bid and tried it again. This time the minimum bid was $200 instead of the $100. I called them back to see what happened. They just said there have been bids of $200 plus for the rooms so that’s the minimum now and your original bid of $110 wasn’t going to be accepted if if it was still in the system. So if that’s true people could go back in and try to raise a bid just to see if it goes thru or not. If it doesn’t then it sounds like the minimum bid is higher than what your trying to put in and your lower old bid will not be getting the upgrade either. Anyone else have this experience?
