  1. An appetizer?? grr lol we just booked this for our anniversary dinner on the Bliss in July and I have been dreaming of crab legs!!! We got the three night specialty dining and had to pay an extra $35 each and now I cant even have crab as an entree *cry* lol

  2. My DH and I have a three meal dining package promotion. We are traveling with our daughter, son, their spouses and children. We would like our children and their spouses to each use one of the meals on our package. This would be our anniversary gift to them and a chance to have a nice meal without the kids. Has anyone does this? is this allowed?

My husband and I had the same thing and I wanted to go with my daughter and they would not allow this..I had to pay for my daughter. It was my husband and I that had the package (we got it free when we booked our cruise) and they said absolutely not allowed.

  3. We bought two x $250 deposits totaling $500 but were then given $250 back as OBC on that same cruise so we really spent $250. We came home with two x $250 cruise next deposits.

There are some rare times that you can book a cruise with two cruise next deposits so watch for those times if you buy more than one.. you can purchase up to four cruise next deposits, each costing $250 each. I cannot remember if you purchase more than two if you receive more OBC as we only did the two.

We already used one cruise next deposit for our upcoming cruise in July and then have until 2021 to use our other $250 deposit and that will be easy ;)

  4. I've been on several NCL ships, most recently the Getaway for the second time, great ship!! On the Getaway we visited Honduras (did a private beach getaway that was WONDERFUL), Harvest Caye (Belize- ships private island with an amazing pool), and Cozumel. We are sailing on the Bliss in July and I will post a review when we return (end of July). The Getaway has a great ropes course (spans entire ship) and its not an extra fee. None of the fun things to do (on the Getaway) are extra whereas I just found out the laser tag and go karts on the Bliss, are extra fees. (go karts are $7/ride).

  5. Flying in on 27th, late, staying at the hotel in the airport. The next day, the 28th we need to get to Port Canaveral. I got one quote for transportation and for two of us they want $180 round trip! Then I see another company says $60 total for two round trip. That's such a big difference its scares me about the $60.

Anyone have companies to try? If rent a car from airport where would we drop it off near Port Canaveral?

    Thanks in Advance!

  6. I just read the 14 pages of your review :), found it through a thread on speial needs kids. My son also has Aspberger's so I can totally relate to things you wrote about...I have so many things I want to comment on about your thread that I took notes while I was reading :p

My son, 12, is also a VERY picky eater! Going on a cruise proves somewhat difficult for him as far as food..breakfast is easy, he eats just about any breakfast food but as the day goes on the selection gets smaller and smaller..did they ever ask you about a special diet? my son eats pb & j everyday but no way would eat it toasted..ome to think of it I wouldn't either..lol..

my son also loves maps! he has always been very interested in maps and has been able to show me how to get places after being there just once..he has a very photographic memory

my son also lacks the social skills needed today...we have to "teach" him. However, when we still expect him and have taught him to say thank you, excuse me, etc..and on his first cruise he was 7-8 and both my kids were complimented on how well they behaved and how respectful they are  I think it is important to raise my son as I do my daughter..seems like you do the same just with some accommodations

we also say my son has some "quirks" ... that is what he has :D and how you mentioned your son getting anxious about getting off the tender, I could see my son doing the same..and catching that last tender an hour before the ship left GC and him worrying about it, sounds like my son too. My son has a thing with time and routine..it's never 8:30 when it is 8:25, it is always 8:25 lol

All your pis are so wonderful but I really enjoyed the dolphin encounter!

Sorry I wrote so much, I can just totally relate to everything you say about your son. I feel blessed to have my son as there are so many people that could not handle a child with Autism, even high functioning. My son relies on routine, wears the same clothes week to week, only likes a few foods, and has a hard time when people accidentally bump into him, etc..but my son is also the sweetest, most loving, caring, funniest boy I have ever met too! He is a crazy nut and comedian like me and I have also learned so much from him...My daughter asked me and her dad one day if we could get into a family members head who would it be? we both said our son's so that we could see what it is like for him, for him to not be understood when he talks sometimes, to get frustrated when people bump into him, to not be able to adapt to a change in a routine, to get overwhelmed so easily, and then be able to help him.

Thanks for your review, very good and interesting to read about another Autistic child having a great cruise ;)

  7. I will not believe that they kept you from the port so they could keep the casino open-now maybe, they kept you out there because you a certain amount of days for a cruise and they were giving you that many days.

I was a flight attendant and we arrived 45 minutes early(between New York and LA)-one man stayed on the plane until our scheduled arrival time-he said he paid for a 5 1/2 hour flight and he was getting wha the paid for.:D

LOL that is crazy..WHY would anyone sit on a plane longer than needed?? what a nut

  8. I met two ladies on a cruise once and hung out with them...we decided to check out our pics that had been taken..next thing I know one of them was STEALING the pics!! How you may ask? She was peeling the little detectors off the back off the pics so that when you went to leave the detectors did not go off!! I cant tell you how many pics she swiped..I couldnt do it but she made a killing and so did some others:eek:

  9. In 2001, my sister and I went on our first cruise to Key West and Cozumel. While in Key West, we went on a catamaran and snorkeling excursion. While sunbathing and drinking, we sat next to a man, his brother, his wife and 2 kids. We talked to them for quite awhile and took several pictures. All of them were very nice and down to earth.

Next day someone commented on how cool was it that Rusty Wallace and his brother Kenny were on our excursion. Now I am not a Nascar fan but my sister is. We both asked which one was Rusty. They go you know the man you talked to for hours? Yes! That's him. So I have pics of Rusty in his bathing suit. lol

Kenny Wallace is VERY nice!! I have pics of him with my kids. We met him at Homestead/Miami raceway while all the teams were there practicing for the race a few years back. He even gave my son a nickname and kept calling him that when he would see him.

I am a Marine veteran of Desert Storm...I had breakfast one morning with a World War 2 Marine who was Jewish and a POW in Germany.

I will never forget that breakfast.

    That is priceless!!!

  10. My story has to deal with the pre cruise hotel. My dd and I flew to Ft. Lauderdale for our Enchantment cruise 12/07 and arrived just in time for the hotel shuttle to pick us up and take us to the hotel. So I called the Comfort Inn Cruise Port to come get us. This was 11:15pm. Was told where to meet the shuttle, went there, and waited. And waited. 11:30pm, I called again, asked where was I waiting, told them, they said they were on the way. 11:45 I call AGAIN, they are on the way I am told! Meanwhile we have been traveling all day (we live in the Midwest so it has been two plane rides and a 4 hour layover to get here) and we are tired. 11:55 I call again, oh the driver is just about here I am told. Midnight, I am PO'd so I grab a taxi and head to the hotel. I walk in the hotel and no one is there but me and my dd and the front desk man. The guy is looking at some papers and says to me, be with you soon. I look around as if to say, what's the wait? There was NO ONE else there, no line, no paperwork is more important than a customer, it is AFTER MIDNIGHT!!! &*$#$#) not happy!! So he checks us in and I mention I had to take a cab and explain the story, he credits me the cab fare. Nice and I didn't even raise a fuss. I then ask about the shuttle leaving for the cruise ship in the morning, sorry they are FULL! Then we head to our room which is BACK OUTSIDE around the BACK of the dark building, remember it is past 12:40am now. We climb up two flights of dark stairs with our luggage, get to our room. I go to put things in the shower for the morning and what do I see? Leftover hair in the tub, half used bottle of shampoo, used bar of soap , dirt, etc. YUCK! I tell my dd to STOP unpacking, we are moving! I call the front desk and demand another room, that this bathroom is dirty and still has the last user's remnants in the shower for gosh sakes! I also tell them (it is now 1am) that they will bring ME the new room key and will give me a room near the one I am in as I am not lugging my suit cases back to the lobby and then seeking out another room around this dark hotel again. So twenty minutes later I get a knock on the door and here are the new keys. Now we lug the suit cases down a flight of stairs and around a corner and into a new room. We are now in a handicap room but we just need some sleep. The next morning we get up to shower and there are two shower heads so we both jump in the extra large shower. Wait that was too easy! One shower head only gives cold, of course!! The other gives us what we want so we start showering...finally "normal". We are feeling excited, the cruise is awaiting! BUT WAIT!! As we are showering the shower head FALLS OFF THE WALL!! no kidding...lol...we look at each other and start to laugh hysterically because we could no longer get mad, there was nothing left to do but laugh...lol..so we had to shower with water that was coming out of a hole in the wall, literally. Here we are laying against a wall rinsing off..lol..At least it was warm!! Well it is not over yet! I got done first so I climb out of the shower and grab a towel. I open the towel and look down and see about 5 dead spiders all over the towel!!! UGH!!!! I toss the towel and grab the other one (there were only 2) and open it up, inspecting it I find some blackish brown, not-so-nice looking stuff on it. Looks like poo so I toss that one too. Thankfully I had brought two beach towels with me so I ran and grabbed those for us.

Upon checking out the lady asks how things were, I said, not good. She then says let me get a manager. She did, he asked what happened so I told him. I was never rude, never got angry, nothing and they ended up taking half my bill off. I should have gotten it all taken off really. This was the hotel from hell and I will NEVER stay there again.

  11. I really don't have a lot of bad stories, but I have to say my cruise on the Carnival Destiny was less than perfect. After getting off that ship, I swore I would never go on another cruise again. The dining room smelled like urine, and made me gag every time we went there to eat. My son's bed crashed 4 times during the cruise (yes.....the legs buckeled, and he was on the floor 4 separate nights). One day we found.....well, who knows what kind of stains on the newly made bedsheets.

On my last cruise I had an experience that probably is going to make me look and sound really blonde: I am a little claustrophobic and panic when I find myself in rooms or places that I cannot control getting out off. One night I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Our cabin was pitch black, even though it was a balcony cabin. I do not like to turn the lights on for fear of waking the children. After I was ready to come out of the bathroom, I realized that for the life of me I could not remember where the light switch was, or where the door knob was. As I start feeling around the bathroom walls, I cannot find either. It is pitch dark, and I feel myself beginning to panic. Finally (though probably less than a minute passed), in total panic mode and fear, I scream for the kids to come and get me out of the bathroom, that I cannot find the light switch or the door knob. My 12 year old promptly turns on the light.....and stares at me in disbelief. There I was: in the bathroom....the door wide open. I had not even closed it, and could have just walked out.

I know. You don't have to tease me. My kids do it on a daily basis. I am sure this will be one of those stories that will be repeated many times over..... :o

LOL No teasing here!! I get that way too...I hate it when the plane door closes :o I have to tell myself it is alright...there is plenty of room, etc...I hate it!!!

  12. I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I didn't see it on the thread anywhere... has anyone out there been on the Enchantment for the 5-night going to GC & OR? I was wondering what the formal night is... is it the same as the other 5-night itinerary? And if you could remember what the other nights were, that would be great! Thanks so much!

First day at sea (so second day you are onboard) is formal night. I took this cruise 12/07 and it was GREAT!!!! Nice smooth sailing...GC, the water is so clear!!! We went to 7 mile beach...

I booked the EOS again for next Nov, this time though I will be on a 5 nighter to Key West, Cozumel and Belize!
