  1. This is our recent experience with a disabled room.  This past October, we decided totally last minute to take an Asian cruise from Shanghai to Tokyo.  The cruise was leaving in 12 days, and the only cabins left were a few ocean view with one being for handicapped.  We called Celebrity and booked was turned out to be an awesome room on Millenium, 6th floor way up front star board in the corner.  We do not need this category, but we appreciated the surprisingly huge room.  Because of the odd location on the floor, the room was shaped sideways hugging the front of the ship with a huge port hole.  Celebrity obviously waited to book it until last minute and we lucked out and got it....I would suggest his cabin to those needing disabled accommodations as there is ample room and great views.  Most M-class ships have these cabin, I believe.  Anyway, just my thoughts.  Bon voyage!

  2. If you like good tequila, try Tequila Fortaleza....it’s owned by my partners brother, the añejo is especially nice.  And if you ever get the chance, a visit to the town of Tequila is a real treat.  My partners family has had a tequila company for many generations and there is an awesome history to the production and culture there.  And the agave fields are really beautiful.  His brother uses a tahona to crush the roasted agave piña the old fashioned way, which makes his tequila rather special....anyway, thought I’d give his booze a plug! 😀

  3. Transatlantic crossings are our favorite.  We have done 5 so far, all starting in Europe and ending in Miami or Fort Lauderdale.  Like others, we usually spend some time in Europe, usually a week or two, before boarding.  Rome is my personal favorite place to embark.  I can never get enough of Rome.  While I love venturing into the ports, my favorite part of these cruises are the sea days....nothing like being three days from land in both directions....you really feel away from it all.....if that’s what you want.  I come back totally refreshed after TA’s.  I feel most people on these cruises are of a like mind in this regard.....chill.  Also, in our experience, the seas have been wonderful.  Never have we sailed in rough seas....lucky perhaps.  I just looked at Celebrity’s site and notice that most April TA’s are wide open and quite reasonable rates.....surely scare of Coronavirus is causing some cancelations and dimming many new bookings.  In my opinion, simply be extra aware of being in groups settings and extra hand cleaning will help you stay healthy onboard.  But if booking these days, always get travel insurance as the near future may be volatile regarding the effects of Coronavirus panic and outbreak. My two cents.

  4. Greetings all, my partner and I are contemplating this cruise, haven’t done an RSVP cruise for many years, and the last one was an Alaska cruise on Celebrity Infinity....loved that ship....this would be our third time cruising up there....so beautiful and I love all the ports, and the Hubbard glacier is awesome!  It’s not confirmed yet but should be in the next few days and I will touch back and connect....and hes, by looking at the availability of cabins it looks like a pretty empty ship, not sure if that is good or bad for us passengers?  Anyway, ciao for now.....

  5. Well, the day has come for Ron and I to fly off to London tomorrow , thus I will be checking in on here probably closer to sailing. As for a lunch/brunch/teatime/pre-dinner/dinner/supper/after-dinner get-together on one of the sea days, which ever works out for us all, if anyone has an idea as to when and where, I will keep my eyes posted. I am not the best at coordinating this kind of thing but will enthusiastically be a part of....

Now back to my last few hours of work then home to finish packing....waited until the last minute AGAIN. I think I must like the Adrenalin rush doing things last minute, that or simply a glutton for punishment!

    Ciao 4 now

    Best,

  6. For our upcoming cruise on Oct 20, ROM-FLL transatlantic, we found great seats using Choice Air with Celebrity. In fact, we are using two flights to actually get to Rome. Our first leg is San Fran to London on October 9, then Paris Orly to Rome on the morning of October 20. Both legs were booked with Celebrity at HUGE savings. We are flying Upper Class (Business First) on Virgin Atlantic for $1250 each to London, which is truly unheard of...if booked online even a month ago prices for the exact seat were running around $7000 and now over $8000....we have looked at these flights for years and never have seen this kind of deal. That being said, until I am actually touching down in London, I am hoping for no glitches or issues. This is the first time using Choice Air and so far we feel like we are getting a great deal!

  7. Welcome Randy,

This will be our second TA on Reflection, the first back in 2015, so perhaps we will recognize each other, however I was not that social on that particular crossing as I was recovering from a long illness. And the cruise was exactly what I needed, because by the time we got to FLL, I felt like a million bucks....cruising always revives my soul and outlook!

See you on board and enjoy Rome before the cruise, Ron and I are visiting London and Paris beforehand so we all should have some stories to talk about!

    Regards,

    Brian and Ron

  8. While I really like Celebrity's 'Smart Casual' dress code and abide to enthusiastically, I personally like dressing up a bit at Murano and never feel over dressed when I do. The atmosphere and experience, IMHO, earn a little extra in the dressing up department! :)

  9. Hello All,

Peter and Charles here from Port St. Lucie FL. We have a suggestion that worked nicely on our Silhouette Eastbound TA last year.

We started out in TMB and then later migrated to the Ensemble Lounge (1 deck up). The Ensemble Lounge is a nice venue once the pre-dinner Elite and Elite+ guests clear out. On the Silhouette the LGBTQ group would spend time in the Oceanview Cafe after the shows, for socialization and a snack or Sleepy Time tea.

We also enjoyed a few lunchtime get together sin the Main Dining Room. Just some thoughts to ponder. Looking forward to meeting everyone soon.

    Regards,

    Peter and Charles in FL

    Greetings Peter and Charles,

Those are great ideas and exactly what I was thinking of....I think lunch time together as a group would be a riot....perhaps a quiet riot, but a riot none the less! ;p

  10. Greetings All,

I'm curious if this sounds good to anyone else here....

Often I cannot make it to many of the FOD meetings as they are sometimes later and often in THE MARTINI BAR, and while I really enjoy hanging out at TMB, it can be quite loud and I feel like I have to yell to keep up conversation. I thought we could all have a group lunch or even dinner together where we could converse and mingle that way. Of course, I will certainly be trying to make the scheduled FOD bar meetings, but thought this might be another option. Since we have so many days at sea, we could use one of them for this get together.

Just a thought and curious if anyone else would be into this....

    Ciao for now!

  11. We are just booking this itinerary. We are Matt and Wayne and are coming back to Celebrity after a few years' break. We look forward to enjoying a nice FOD gathering, especially on the nice week at sea. This is our first Westbound crossing, so we are eagerly anticipating ever-longer days and the sea days coming AFTER all of the ports.

    Matt

    Hi Matt and Wayne....again!

I said hello on main Roll Call for this cruise a while back and didn't realize someone had started this FOD roll call, but appreciate that you did! IIRC, you both are getting married soon, so again, congrats, and we will look forward to a toast onboard!

This will be our third TA and second on Reflection, having done the same direction (westward) two years ago and sailing on Silhouette last year....there is nothing like the week of sea days! I love being in the middle of the Atlantic so far from the rest of the world in every direction and not a care in the world. A true vacation, IMHO!

Ron and I are spending a week both in London and Paris pre-cruise, and after the first few stops on our itinerary, we will be quite ready to kick back sea day style !

It appears there are a nice number of LGBT guests onboard for this TA and we really look forward to making new cruise buddies!

    Ciao for now,

  12. If you are a Captains Club member you may qualify for some percentage off, FYI. Being a Select Level I receive 25% off any package, Elite get 35% off I believe. You can share the package with a companion however only one person can be n at a time. Hope this helps!

  13. I agree with suekay in that you will get footstools on you deck to use, however life jackets do the trick for me if I feel I need my feet up. However, if the price is doable, by upgrading, you will earn more Captains Club points in a concierge cabin as opposed to a standard veranda cabin. Regular veranda cabin earns 3 points a day while concierge/aqua class earn 5 I believe. On a 15 night cruise that can mean a big difference, especially if you are near a new threshold to a higher award level. Hope this helps!

  14. Brain and Ron,

We are on the same TA as you. Per your recommendation earllier, we booked our flight to SF from MIA. Did you book a transfer already, or planning to do it later?

    Tanya

Hi there Tanya! So glad you found a flight that works for you both! We have gone ahead and booked through Celebrity Shore Excursion area on their site a tour that will give a half day tour of Miami with a drop off at MIA. We did this last year with a tour of Ft. Lauderdale with drop off at FLL and it was exactly what we needed to fill the time and learn a few interesting things about South Florida. We also met some nice people on the bus during the drive and it made the whole thing even nicer!

I hope this helps and so looking forward to meeting you all and the whole CC gang! Crossing off days on the calendar now!

    Chat soon!

  15. Maybe you could let the OP speak for him/herself or not, rather than making snarky remarks to posters.

Agree 100%..... What is up with some of "Open Thread Comment" police on here today.....these threads are for open dialogue, no? This is supposed to be fun!

This thread is also making me rather hungry!
