  1. Having cruised Alaska 4 times with Princess and just returned from a Mexico cruise on the Royal I could not recommend this ship for Alaska. Limited outside access on the lower decks. No walk around promenade deck. Doors to outside lower decks kind of hidden and can’t just go from one side of ship to the other side like the Sun or the Dawn.

  2. Second day of Mexican cruise on the Royal. At sea and can’t see land. We are getting ready for another fine day when BAM!!  something slams into our balcony door. Go over to look and find a dove in the corner of balcony trying to fly back up over railing. Go out and pick it up. Appears to be ok. Held it for a bit before sending it off. Hopefully it made it back to solid ground.

  3. It was a large coach. They dropped us off in front of a very nice, rather upscale Silver jewelry store where we were to meet back at in about an hour and a half. The store had seating inside and complementary water. Didn’t notice many places to sit while walking in town though other than the restaurants and bars. I should mention.. they do not drop you off right by the ship where you got on. They drop you off just at the edge of the port and you have to walk thru another shopping area and then get on a trolly that will take you back to ship. Not that far though.

I got the all inclusive package but will be traveling with family members in another cabin. How will this work? Will the photos with people from the other cabin count as our unlimited photos?

We never prepay on previous cruises and always regret it so trying to save some money. Traveling on the Royal in a couple of weeks with my husband, toddler, and her two grandmas on what I dubbed "The Grandmas Cruise." I expect there will be lots of pictures with the grandmas.

Got off the Royal Sat. We were with group of ten with four cabins. The way I understood the sign posted next to photos it was $249 PER cabin for photo packages.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you remember if it was just a regular pool? I have a 16 months old daughter. We will bring her floatie. Were there enough loungers?

Did you do the excursion with shopping first?

Did you take any photos? Maybe folks can ID it based on those.

The pool was nice. Had a water slide at one end. About 3 feet on other side of bridge. Seats in water by bar. Plenty of lounge chairs. They took us to shopping area first then to resort.

  6. Didn’t catch the name but we did this excursion last week. Had a great time. Nice pool, open bar, great service. I wasn’t too impressed with the lunch provided but then again, I’m a picky eater. Others enjoyed it. We did have to leave the lounge chairs on the beach though, you can only say “ no thank you” so many times to the many vendors walking the line in front of you.

Was this lady at the door of the dining room quite tall with a very short hairstyle and glasses from Eastern Europe?

We just had 49 days on Royal and tried to avoid her,  seemed like she might have been an MP in a former job.....

Our favorite head waiter ZaZa  came on board Royal just before Los Angeles, she is such a nice welcoming person, nothing is too much trouble, I think they may have assigned ZaZa to run Alfredos now.

No, this was a short Asian woman.

  8. Just off the Royal. Had a wonderful time with family. 10 in our extended group. There were a couple issues however. I seen a post before we left about some confusion with beverage program and crew no being up to speed on procedures. We found the same thing. Son and his family had booked the sip and sail package. It was hit or miss if they got charged. Had to have several charges reversed. Just a minor inconvenience in the long run.

I do have a bone to pick with the host in the Symphony Dining room though. She really needs an attitude adjustment. First night we all get there at 5:30. Request table for 10. She seemed to be put out by the request. Anyways we were seated immediately and had a great meal. Second night same host. Was there when they opened. My son asked this time for table and he got the same attitude. Seated immediately again.

Now here’s what kinda pissed me off. After another nice dinner with great staff the head waiter at table told us we could reserve his table for next night. Great!! So when we leave my daughter in law asks the host. “We don’t do that.  It’s first come first serve. “. Hmmm ok no biggie, we will just get there early and request table 62 if it’s still available, Ok we get there early, about 4 couples ahead of us. Request table number 62.. no can do.. “that table is reserved “.  LOL.   Not once did I see this woman smile. Oh well still had a great time. Room steward was fantastic.
