  1. We absolutely LOVED it! It was our favorite thing we have ever done. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We hiked on the glacier and then explored an ice cave underneath. It was breathtaking! The company was amazing in making sure everyone was back in time for our all aboard times.

We just received ours for our upcoming cruise. It was 9 days out when it appeared on my luggage tags. The email saying documents were ready came two days later.

Actually the email said there was a change to our upcoming reservation. We also received the email saying documents were ready prior to getting an assignment

  3. Hi! I have asked a bunch of questions recently and I always appreciate everyone’s advice! This is our first time to cruise HAL and our first cruise in general in many years.

How does the casino work for black jack tables? Do we need to bring cash? Or do we use our card and it’s charges to our account? We leave in 4 days and I keep thinking of all the random things we may need 🤪 does anyone know the minimum bet for the tables? We aren’t huge gamblers but we do enjoy blackjack if the minimum bet isnt very much.

  4. Has anyone done the Canoe paddle and trek through Above and beyond Alaska? We booked this excursion but the time frame has us cutting it really close to our all aboard time which makes me nervous. They have wonderful reviews but I was curious if anyone here has any insight? Thanks!

The SS is so much bigger and has a huge (by cruise ship standards) bathroom with two sinks and tub and separate shower. Also has a much larger balcony. We have a SS on the Noordam in July. The only problem is once you have a SS it will be real hard to go back to a standard Verandah cabin.

That’s what I am afraid of!!

  6. We originally booked a VB category stateroom but I called several weeks ago because the price of our cruise dropped and I was hoping to get an adjustment. My fare was non refundable but they offered a complimentary upgrade to a SZ guarantee so I took it. We got our room assignment this morning and we are in SS6089! We are sailing on the Eurodam in 9 says to Alaska. Has anyone stayed in this room? Pics? Reviews? I’m just happy to finally have a room number. 🤪

I know you are going crazy over knowing your cabin number, but I am so jealous that you leave in 12 days. I hope you have a wonderful cruise!

Thank you! We are so excited, this is our first trip without our kids. It’s been nearly 10 years! So to say we are excited is an understatement. We sure love our kids but can’t wait for a break 🥳🥳🥳

  8. Only 12 days until departure and I still don’t have my guarantee room number. I know it can come at any time or we may get it at the pier but I have checked my booking so many time that I’m going crazy. Lol! Our cruise still has quite a bit of availability. I’m wondering if this could affect when guarantees are assigned? Maybe they wait until the last minute in hopes that they sell more cabins? Any thoughts? I know there is no way of really knowing but I’m so curious of other experiences.

Since there's only 2 SZ and 6 SY, and usually many SZ guarantees, odds are that you will get an SS. But the only real difference between SZ and SS is the location. Good luck!

Is there any difference in the SY’s compared

    to the other two?

We have booked an SZ guarantee several times.  We never got an SZ room.  We always got an SY or SS, and a few times we got both an SA and an SB upgrade.  Hope you luck out.

Thats awesome! I’m waiting not-so-patiently for our room assignment. 🤪

Congratulations on your upgrade.  Enjoy your SZ cabin and cruise.

What ship will you be on?

I was going to ask the same question? What ship?

I think  getting the SZ cabin upgrade is 👍👍👍👍👍👍

    Have a great cruise.

We are on the Eurodam! Going to Alaska the first week in May ☺️

  12. I called my TA today because the fares for my cruise have dropped a little and I wanted to see if I could get some refunded. She called HAL and they weren’t able to refund me but gave me a complimentary upgrade from a verandah to a SZ guarantee. I decided to take it! We leave in 18 days, when are rooms typically assigned?

  13. I am sure this has been asked a million times but I can’t seem to find a thread about it. So I apologize in advance!

We are boarding the Eurodam on May 4th and received an email regarding arrival times at the port. Our deck was listed as a 2:00 arrival time. If we arrival earlier will we be able to check in and board? Or will our boarding time be tied to the 2:00 arrival time? We were hoping to board early but we don’t want to get there and have to wait around for 2 hours.

FWIW I will be disembarking the Eurodam on the same day that you will be boarding.

Since you will be boarding in Vancouver, there is an underground mall across the street from the cruise terminal (Canada Place), where you can find lots of fast-food restaurants (delicious Gree food and low-cost breakfasts), shops, toiletries, snacks, and even a tax preparation office.  Here is a photo review of the mall in case you want to purchase "supplies" for your cruise:

    Enjoy your cruise planning.

We are actually sailing out of Seattle on May 4. Thank you for the info though!

If you are a photographer, the view of what is happening on both sides of the ship in Alaska is paramount and makes an aft stateroom ideal.  If you like to eat on your balcony without any wind while the ship is moving, aft is the stateroom of choice.  If you would enjoy seeing Glacier Bay without fighting for a spot at the ships railings, having raised phones/cameras blocking your camera, having snacks/beverages a few steps away from your own balcony railing, and not competing with hundreds of your fellow passengers for a public restroom, aft staterooms are the best.  If you like hot food from Room Service, an aft stateroom is a short elevator ride from the Room Service kitchen.  If you like a short elevator ride up to the Lido Market for coffee/snacks/meals, stick with an aft balcony stateroom.

If a larger stateroom is more important than the above considerations, go for an SS category.

Ok you completely convinced me to keep my aft stateroom!! I was getting persuaded by the thought of a “suite” but you reminded me why we chose aft in the first place! Thank you!!

  16. Hi! We are sailing to Alaska the first week of May. We are currently booked in an Aft veranda (VB category) on the Eurodam. Due to price drops I can switch to a signature suite for the same price as I paid. I’ve heard that the aft cabins are great for Alaska because the block the wind. Would you keep the aft cabin or switch to a signature suite?

    Thanks!
