  1. The last steaks we had (2 months ago) were fair, but very thinly cut to save on cost.  I would much rather have 1/2 the size that is thicker.  The beef was well prepared, but it is hard to make a 5/8" thick steak medium rear with a good exterior charring that is juicy.

Booking on the first day of the cruise they threw in a bottle of wine, nothing special but we took it and gave it to my husband's family that picked us up after the cruise.

Any other special perks from on board bookings?

  3. They had other cruises slated for dates prior to the Sept 24 sailing and had to cancel them because of labor shortages and getting paperwork (work permits) submitted and approved.   I just hope they can get it sorted out so the September sailing can happen.

  4.  Wish they would do  7-10 Mex cruises.  (Cabo, Puerto Viarta, La Paz & Lareto.  I would like to see an X ship out of San Diego or San Francisco.  LA is not a very attractive Port to Sale from.  I also had a Pacific Coast cruise cancelled this spring.  We really like sailing out of San Diego.  Nice City, easy access, lots of things to do and hotels to stay at closes to cruise terminal.

  5. Canada's new rule requires 100% Vaccination rate for Cruise ships to arrive in a Canadian port (which I see as impossible).   We have a 5 night LA to Vancouver cruise on the Bliss scheduled for 4/17.  Even if they passed an Alaska Exemption Law similar to last year,  it would not affect  our cruise because it does not go to Alaska.  Am I missing something, or could my cruise be in jeopardy?

  6. In the US,  it was limited as it has been in past offers.  You had to add it to your card before the threshold was met (Unknown what level  triggered that).  After their threshold is met, it is no longer available to be added to your card.

  7. We live in California and  have done Pacific Coast Cruses on NCL and Celebrity out of LA and San Diego.  If possible I would much rather start or disembark from or to San Diego.   I is a much nicer port than LA (very Industrial).  San Diego Airport is about 3 miles from the Cruise port and there are many nice hotels within a stones throw to the Ship.

I would prefer the Fall.  Spring can be too cold and windy in the North West.  Sept-Oct is still normally very warm in California. If you go in the fall his would also allow you to add a Mex Riviera on to the back end of it if time and budget permit.  We have noticed a big drop in prices about 55 days prior to sailing.  We book our flights with points well in advance (Southwest) and cancel if plans change or prices don't fall.

If you go to San Francisco, Acatraz is a good day trip and is very close to the port.  Even though it is beautiful,  Catalina does not have much to offer.  For us it is a nice relaxing port day for the Spa or Pool.

Because you are close to US shores, if there is some sort of issue you are only a day away from a US friendly port.

Because of the expansion of the Panama Canal, there are many more ships and many more options for us on the West Coast.  Prior to the new Canal, the size of the ships were limited.  That is not the case anymore.  We tend to sail on NCL and Celebrity so I can only speak to them.  Because Pacific Coast Cruises have been considered Repositioning cruises, it seems  that all the companies provide a good value.

  8. You pay  $250 and get a $500 certificate to pay for new booking.  There are restrictions and expiration dates associated with them (strings attached).  I believe,  if you or they cancel they will only refund you the $250.  I just used mine.  There was also a requirement that I could not  buy one and use it immediately.  There was a waiting period to prevent me from purchasing and using it.  Make sure to read the terms and conditions to see if it will be beneficial to your needs.

  9. I believe the current cancelled cruises have nothing to due with Canada.  San Francisco and Sonoma County have changed travel requirements (SF you have to be boostered).   Only the last Pacific Coast Cruise was scheduled to go to Canada.  It is yet to be seen how Canada's policies my effect future cruises out of Vancouver.  I also believe the Alaska Tourism Act only applies to Alaska Cruises and would not apply to cruises to Hawaii.
