I have a Horizon cruise booked for January that I purchased a year ago but now I have my doubts that it will sail.  Here's how I see it.   Carnival continues to sell cruises while sending some crew members home and cancelling current cruises.   While this is happening, the state of Georgia has opened the state for business while others are contemplating doing the same in the next few weeks.   Florida today says we had a major increase in  the daily count of the virus.  Then they announced that the figure may be exaggerated since they made some errors in the past and corrected it with the latest number.  So we either went up or went down.  Take your pick.   You may not be able to cruise because of close quarters but malls, stores, hotels, motels, barber shops, air planes, etc may be available.  Expect a second bout with the virus  ...............  maybe and then again, maybe not .  If you are 70 or older, you may not be able to sail.  Many doctors say they can't comment if a letter is required.  I have $1,300 in Carnival gift cards.   What if we can't sail?  How do you sit 6 feet apart at the dining table?  Do I have to wear a mask for the entire cruise?  Will the cruise insurance cover a problem concerning the virus?

There are more concerns but I think you get the point ................ points.  This would be my 24th Carnival cruise and I never expected to ever see any thing like this.  Would be funny if I get called back to my part time job in a store but could not cruise because it could be dangerous.   Oh well, I am still maintaining my 2 1/2 inch cruise binder and am looking at excursions assuming there are any if there are ports that would let us visit.

I bet you are glad I got this all cleared up!

And how do you social distance on the elevators.  I've been in some after shows or the drill where you could barely have room to breathe.

OK, things change all the time.  We were just informed that overnight St Martin decided to change their policy for cruise ships.  I am not sure exactly what it is, but it means that we are going to St Thomas.  As it stands were are due to arrive and be able to disembark by 1:30 and leave at 5pm.  Since it was so last minute there are no ship excursions.  Our excursion will be refunded to us.

I was wondering why so many ships were turning around after approaching the island.  Looks like Celebrity Edge is the only one so far docked.

Coastguard is here now, so they are completing the two requires test. Estimated 20 minutes and we will complete our trip to FLL. 3-4 hours for the test results, so they are thinking we will be docked by 2pm if they come back negative.

That's what they said for the Carnival Panarama too.  No word on the result as of 8 pm PT.  Hope Miami is faster at processing.

They had to of tested the crew member. I don't see any other reason why. Or the piers are contaminated? Why not let them leave.

This is setting up to be a bad situation.  Could get ugly quick.   Hopefully, there will not be anyone who tries to leave.

But the luggage collection and sorting is a huge operation. If it has been returned then it will need to be recollected and sorted before guests can disembark. That's an additional several hours of work/delay. If they anticipated them getting off in the next few hours, there is no way they would have touched checked bags. At least, that's my opinion.

Plus the rooms will have to be re-cleaned since folks have been allowed back in them.
