  1. Being an avid cruise in their own right I let my kiddo @ 11 explore the ship on their own. We had the safety discussion, reinforced behavior is the exact same as with me, I knew approximately where they were off to and we had mandatory check-in's.  It will also say it was a great way for me to sip my drink on the balcony and send my kiddo out for pizza to bring back 😃

Sorry to be so lame here, but on the app, Date of embarkation currently says ‘must be between 8/9 and 8/13.’ You can’t go further if not in that date range.  I imagine this changes daily, but boarding on 9/5 but not to Canada till 9/11, we wouldn’t be able to fill out till after we sail (like 9/8 or so) thus not meeting the RCCL request to have the ArriveCan app filled out prior to boarding.  Again, no doubt something I’m not following ….

More Clarification: Filling out the form is not the same as submitting it to the Canadian Government. My cruise is 8/15, Seattle-Round trip. I've already downloaded the app, added all in my party with their passport and vaccine information. That way the only thing I have to do is hit the submit button when it's time (72 hrs prior to cruise start date or before we arrive in Victoria, BC) to do so. No messing around with the data input. Hope this helps your questions!

Here's a note I received from my Suite Conceire this week on the subject: A Friendly reminder for your Arrive CAN for Canada, please try to finish this and get your QR code ready in hand for your smooth check in process. You can do this by visiting ArriveCANhttps://arrivecan.cbsa-asfc.cloud-nuage.canada.ca/welcome 3 days prior to the cruise starts or before you arrive Canada, please see the attachment for your reference.

Log into your account and go to Royal Gifts. They sell a fleece for $25 that'll be in your stateroom when you board.

It's a legit fleece, too, not some cheap thing.

Just got a notification today, due to supply chain issues the Alaskan blanket I purchased is no longer available for my cruise. I'll be bringing a small travel waterproof blanket.

  4. As someone who puts in a very large effort to choose the exact category and location on a ship doing the RoyalUp comes with a list of unknowns. I've successfully gotten two RoyalUp's, one to a grand-suite and one to a loft suite but I chose to do so on both ships as I was ok with the potential locations of those categories. Sounds like you have particular requirements, which is ok, and RoyalUp is too much of a gamble for you. Enjoy it...I personally do like aft balconies. It's a different view and tends to be quieter in the hallways.

  5. In my 25 years of cruising no sailing is guaranteed. I've missed Hubbard Glacier due to 20' waves, had a ship go back to a port for a medical emergency shortening the time spent at our next port, missed an entire country due to severe weather, diverted from an western Caribbean port to an eastern Caribbean port due to a crazy storm system, perfect day at coco cay cut in half due to a severe storm system, missing a port due to engine problems. That being said I've only been comped twice for two instances and we were good with it. The joys of travel...things happen.
