  1. I totally understand your frustration. There was definitely a reason you paid the extra to select the specific location of your room. Here is how I would handle this...

Firstly, I'm beyond ready to sail, so I'd go, and have a great time.

Secondly, once onboard I'd find someone in the guest relations team, show them my original booking, and discuss with them some sort of compensation that might rectify the situation. I would prepare myself for no result so that it didn't ruin my trip if it was out of their hands.

And finally, upon returning from the trip, I'd write to corporate if it wasn't handled onboard.

I hope you still enjoy your trip!

  2. I’m looking at Coco Cay Cabanas on my September 2021 4 night cruise from Port Canaveral on Mariner.

    Cabanas are anywhere from $1199 - $1899

I’m just, kind of in a state of disbelief...

Is this for real? Am I missing something?

I’m frustrated because I am traveling with 8 people and this would be perfect, but that’s literally more than the cost of the cruise. I just don’t get it!

If I don’t get a cabana, will we still have a good time by the pool? I just don’t want to waste the day by it being too busy!

Yet it's not actually 30 days—it's four weeks. The Celebrity Infinity is still set to sail on April 11 (28 days from the announced time). It appeared on their cancellation list last night...then mysteriously disappeared from it. Not good. Others are getting 125% future sail credits or full refunds. Our group includes (actually focuses on) two elderly people with health conditions; i.e., they absolutely can't go. So far no good.

I'm personally happy that Infinity is set to sail on the 11th. I really would like to go on my cruise!

We were on in February.  Curious, how did you get a reservation in Luminae?  They wouldn't do it for us?  We did not have any problem getting seated when we showed up at about 8:00 or 8:15.

It was possible to do on the cruise planner. It showed me the option to book times in Celebrity Select Dining. Honestly I just assumed this is Luminae since that is what we get with the suites but now you have me second guessing.

I'll check when I get onboard, and if it's just the MDR, then I'll cancel them and we will walk up to Luminae when we are ready.

Tuscan Grille (Or S.S. United States as it was back in 2010) is the restaurant my Husband and I had our first date in when we worked in Entertainment onboard. Really looking forward to revisiting the ship that started it all for us.

    Thanks for your help!

  5. When you book a cruise with a cruise line, you essentially enter a contract with them. There are expectations laid out for both the cruise operator and the passenger.

These expectations are that you will cruise in the room that you have reserved and held from other guests booking. This is why they have a cancellation policy with increasing penalties for cancelling as you get closer to the sailing date. This is what the cruise line expects from you. I think they have done a great job with the Cruise With Confidence in allowing some flexibility due to the current situation.

That said, on your end you can expect to be provided a cruise vacation on the vessel booked in exchange for the funds you pay. If Celebrity cannot provide this for any reason you are owed a full refund. In most cases this will be offered with several other good will gestures such as FCC and compensation for flight changes etc. Because of this they will have to refund you in full if they cancel. Therefore it is in the best interest of the cruise line to wait this out and only make decisions when information about your precise sailing date is available.

Hang tight, they will make all changes necessary to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable cruise vacation, but cancelling is a last resort and likely wont happen too far in advance without major changes in the current situation.

  6. It seems to me that your Travel Agent should have confirmed the details of this before cancelling the sailing. At least then you would have been able to make a decision with all of the relevant information pertaining to your booking.

It seems like the terms are laid out for the original FCC and it's not to do with the current CWC offer.

Sorry you lost out! but thank you for sharing because no doubt it will help other people who may have used a FCC from a previous issue.

  7. What 5 night are you on? I'm on the Infinity 4/11. Really looking forward to it.

We also were very happy with our deal for the Sky Suite and a FCC wouldn't touch the sides for a similar cruise this time next year. However, I'm putting the big difference down to the Revolution (renovation) of the ship in November. It's the most extensive renovation X has ever done across the fleet. Much more than the Solsticizing they did 6-7 years ago. The prices were dramatically higher next year even before any of this was going on. (I've been shopping around for a while)

I think the prices on the Infinity this year were a little lower than normal, because she is ready for a renovation, and next year are a little higher than normal, because she will be brand new. That said, the FCCs will come into play with the future price changes. Although, not to gouge us, but to keep the company fiscally healthy, and in part to encourage those who can, to keep their current sailing.

For all of the reasons above, if Celebrity doesn't cancel, I'm cruising!

Am I correct that any fcc will be for the price of the cancelled cruise alone, with the fees and taxes refunded to the credit card in case of a cancellation? Is it possible to use part of the fcc for two different cruises instead of all for one cruises, please? We have 2 cruises in May in suites, so cruise price is considerable (to me) and we have several future cruises booked, none of which the cruises price is equal to the fcc we will get if we cancel each of those May cruises.

Taxes and fees are always refunded in full to your credit card. The FCC is in relation to the cruise fare, and what cancellation penalty stage you are in. the closer you get to the cruise you would normally lose the cancellation penalty of 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%.

The penalty that would normally be lost is what becomes a FCC, and the remaining amout that is normally refundable will be refunded to your credit card.

I believe that if a cruise costs less than your FCC, a second FCC will be generated for the difference in price, but the expiration date is not extended beyond the original expiration date.

    • Bid?  Yes/No: NO

    General Comments (offer details, etc.)

We decided not to bid because we really liked our current location in S1 on Deck 6 with a larger than usual balcony, but here are our minimum bids for those who are curious...

    Celebrity Suite: $350pp ($700)

    Royal Suite: $500pp ($1000)

    Penthouse Suite: $750pp ($1500)

I would maybe have gambled up one level if CS was just a little lower.

Not sure if this was mentioned:  David Abel said they were given masks and rubber gloves to wear on deck during their fresh air breaks. Japan gov’t told them not to wear gloves but use hand sanitizer and wash hands with soap/ water as soon as reentering cabin.

This makes a lot of sense. Gloves can provide a false sense of security, when in fact placing and removing the gloves leaves opportunity of transferring the virus. Washing hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap is the best defense against spread of illness. Not to mention that crew will be spraying the halls, railings and door handles on a regular basis. I worked on board for a noro outbreak once, and was amazed at the extensive measures we took as crew.
