P&O were never planning to sail at capacity, I think it was 50% max until the end of July. Two of the first 4 cruises had already moved to sold out (based on restricted capacity) a good 2 weeks ago.

Please remember that when the cruises went on sale in March, the government advice was: lower of 1000 and 50% before 21 June, no restrictions after. Numbers were falling, vaccinations increasing and the Indian/Delta variant didn't exist.

Yes - some cruises sold more than 1,000 places on launch day so some launch day bookers are disappointed.

The website did state that cruises/bookings were subject to government restrictions being eased as planned but in March there was no reason to suspect otherwise.

@rainbowhaysTheir Ts and Cs are tight enough that you wouldn't win.

@smollettIts important that passengers are distributed throughout the ship for muster allocation purposes. So, once cancellations were calculated, it may have been necessary to upgrade to move more passengers in the correct part of the ship.

Sorry to disagree, but it wasn’t government ADVICE, it was a Directive to the relevant cruise companies not to have more than 1000 passengers. Correct me if I am wrong and please provide any evidence but I have found nowhere in the records where it states that the restrictions imposed are to be lifted after such and such a date.

As regards to Ts and Cs the law states that they have to be relevant, fair and not hidden away.

  2. We are booked on Britannia for 11/07/21. Have all the people who P&O have cancelled for this cruise already been told?

What would the legal position be if we had our booking cancelled but refused to accept the cancellation arguing that we have a valid contact with P&O for our cruise? Obviously force majure and government policy changes excluded.

  3. I am taking my first Princess cruise in September and am a little concerned about the tie rule on formal nights.

I do like to dress up and have a blazer and sports jackets with dress shirts.

I cannot do up my top shirt button due to medical issues so I cannot wear a tie.

I am a rule follower and I don’t want to look out of place.

I hope someone who has sailed with Princess can offer me some advice.

  4. Thank you all for your replies. They have given me a greater insight into Ovation, one that I would not have picked up from looking at Seabourn's website.

Based on the fact that we are not "destination " people and our former quoted preferences, which ship and itinerary would you suggest?

  5. My wife and I have not had the pleasure of sailing with Seabourn but we are considering a round Britain cruise on Odyssey next year.

We like the smaller ships such as Azamara so the size of Odyssey appeals to us.

What is important to us on a cruise is friendly service, good interaction with bar staff, fantastic and innovative cocktails, and good food.

We tend to stay on the ship rather than go on excursions. We like to relax in a hot tub.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  6. Glad you had a lovely cruise. We will be on Quest in just over 3 week so was very interested in your comments.

Not sure whether the Hotel Director on board was Philip or Ryzsard but I might have been tempted to have a quiet word particularly if you had cause to complain more than once. Both of them are excellent and very guest focused

Hope you have as good a cruise as we did. If you get to listen to Simon the guitarist sing please ask him to play Alleluia by Leonard Cohen. He does it beautifully.

Sorry about last nights football result.

  7. Recently returned from our cruise on Quest. Best cruise ever. Superb food, fantastic white night party, and the AZAMAZING evening was just that. Some very good crew, particular the officers. Unfortunately, quite a few of the crew did not live up to expectations. Our cabin steward, Joseph, was very good. However, the complaints procedure needs looking at. Had to speak to the Beverage Manager on two separate occasions. This was after getting nowhere when I raised the issue with the Assistant Beverage Manager. Also mentioned my concerns in both the mid cruise and after cruise questionnaire. No reply to date.

Am also annoyed that, despite being billed, not received a copy of the final bill.

    Really enjoyed the cruise.

Will definitely sail with Azamara again.

  8. My wife and I are joining Quest on Tuesday morning for a seven night cruise. We are wondering if anyone has any last minute thoughts or advice on how we can make the best out of our cruise as we haven't sailed with Azamara for many years.

    Thank you.

  9. i am wondering if Azamara provide any little eats at the bars. If so, what do they provide and at what bars?

Last time I found a fantastic bartender who organised a mixed fruit platter for me every night, but that was ten years ago.

    Thank you.

  10. Have any of you Azamara aficionados ever organised or taken part in a bar crawl onboard either Quest or Journey? If you did, was it frowned upon by Azamara? If it is allowed, is the roll call the best place to try and organise it?

  11. Speaking of drinks, having read many Azamara reviews I am surprised to find very little mention of the bartenders onboard. Is there a reason for this? I would like to know who is the best bartender, especially when it comes to making cocktails. I will be interested to read your comments on this.

  12. We are going on Quest in April and we are both really looking forward to the cruise. From what we have read on these boards we are already considering our next Azamara cruise and we want to know if there are any particular advantages of booking whilst on board?
