  1.  Who is in Lockdown? Not Spain, Not Italy,  We booked our vacation understanding it was a fully vaccinated cruise. We were sold that we wouldn't need masks and we would be able to explore freely on our own.

     I understand things change and now we are required to wear masks indoors and only leave the ship on excursions through NCL and I've excepted it.

      Here is the info I received from the insurance company today regarding refunds if you test positive . If you test positive for COVID you are sick and you must quarantine, hence you are covered. Of course a doctor would have to confirm you have Covid.

     NCL Standard insurance

    TRIP CANCELLATION

    The Company will reimburse You, up to the Maximum Benefit shown on the Confirmation of Coverage, if You are prevented from taking Your Trip for any of the following reasons that are Unforeseen and takes place after the Effective Date:

    Your Sickness, Accidental Injury or death that results in medically imposed restrictions as certified by a Physician at the time of Loss preventing Your participation in the Trip. A Physician must advise to cancel the Trip on or before the Scheduled Departure Date;

    Sickness, Accidental Injury or death of a Family Member or Traveling Companion, booked to travel with You, that results in medically imposed restrictions as certified by a Physician preventing that person’s participation in the Trip;

    Sickness, Accidental Injury or death of a non-traveling Family Member;

    You or a Traveling Companion being hijacked, Quarantined, required to serve on a jury, subpoenaed, the victim of felonious assault within ten (10) days of departure; having Your principal place of residence made Uninhabitable by fire, flood, volcano, earthquake, hurricane or other natural disaster;

    You or a Traveling Companion being directly involved in a traffic accident substantiated by a police report, while en route to departure;

    After one (1) year of continuous employment at the same company, You are terminated or laid-off, from full time employment by that company through no fault of Your own.

    That's awesome you were able to board so early.  our flight is set to come into Barcelona at 9 am cruise day and I'm thinking...what in the world are we going to do all day while we wait to board

     So does ours. We don't check in until 3:30 so we're planning to drop off luggage at the port and hop on the hop on bus to see some sites in Barcelona.

    Look at it another way, all the rules could be changed on the 30th back to normal and everyone can go mask free and walk ashore?

     We can all hope.

    I was a bit angry and disappointed as it's our first time traveling to Europe and we had booked excursions on 4 of the ports outside on NCL because of the budget we planned. I just wish NCL would give us at least a better price on the excursions offered. We really had to dig into our spending money to pay for a few NCL excursions. But I'm determined to have a great time anyways!

    If this is your first trip to Europe, you will not be disappointed!!

     Pick one thing in 2 or 3 cities, study up on it and make that your mission to enjoy.  Don't try to do it all in one trip, once you go to Europe you will want to go again! We always recommend a food from the country or a national drink, while there to experience - Italy: Gelato, Cannoli, Aperol Spritz, Limoncello

    If you only have one day in Rome: Don't do the Coliseum, unless it is the drive by, long lines and there are just way too many other (better) things to see. St Peters Basilica is breathtaking, (Bring back plenty of Rosaries for Christmas presents and Christening Gifts if you are Catholic, buy them from vendors outside Vatican for 1/2 the price out of St Peter's square, well they were b4 covid) Trevi fountain is beautiful.

    Have a wonderful trip and a fabulous Cruise!!

    Too many people are just not getting the point.  Why I'm irritated at NCL is the fact that it appears that Italy has required these organized shore excursions since at least March if not earlier.  NCL failed to disclose that fact to passengers and, in fact, advertised that because the ship would be 100% vaccinated, we would be allowed to "explore" on our own. If NCL didn't know this, they certainly should have.  If they did know passengers would not be able to explore ports on our own and failed or refused to disclose it until Monday, after final payment was due for the first few cruises, then they were flat-out dishonest.

    I am not upset with the Italian Government's mandate.  I understand that they have to do what they have to do to keep their citizens safe, if this is what it takes.  It's the underhandedness in the way NCL has and is handling this.  We still can't get an answer as to whether NCL will or even can honor the tours like "Florence on your Own" type tours I purchased.  No one will give us an answer, the shore excursion folks were never briefed on it, and I've not heard from a single soul that they got this email NCL claims they sent out.  Why should I believe them? They buried this "disclaimer" on a single page on a website.  I read this same page at least 20 times over the last 3 months I should know to read it 21 times?  90% of passengers don't read Cruise Critic and they will not know this requirement exists.  NCL is just asking for trouble.

    Totally agree with you. I was told they sent out an email and never got it.

     I have rebooked with NCL for the 3 excursions I had made and canceled with outside companies which more then doubled the price and cut into our spending money:(

     I truly had no choice, this is our first trip to Europe and I couldn’t imagine just watching our dreams from the balcony of our room. My daughter and I are so excited I just hope we aren’t disappointed.

    This is an EXCELLENT question... Exactly what I was asking in another thread.

    NCL needs to give information and direction on these issues.. They need to keep clients informed and up to date as to changing protocols and how it effects them..  Not a third party website for information!!

    I think they are afraid to address these issues with the fear of MORE cancellations ... This is just to many rules and regulations and most people are not aware..

    No longer fun>>  NOT A VACATION.. IMHO

     I agree! I've called a few times about this and each time I'm told something different. Today I was told an e-mail was sent out informing passengers. I haven't received one, has anyone else?
