  1. You can, but there's not much to see without doing the tour. They have an outside bar with a few yard games and the store is nearby where you can buy Bacardi, shirts, etc.

  2. We took an Uber from a hotel in the Ocean Park area and I think it was $10, this was around 9:30 am. We then Uber'd from Bacardi to the ferry port for $11, around noon. We then took the ferry over to Old San Juan for $.75/each. La Casita de Rones is steps away from the Old San Juan side of the ferry port and has great food and drinks and a great view.

We did the tasting tour at Bacardi and it included one of their drinks from their menu and included a tasting of 4 different rums, one of which is only available at the distillery. Our guide was awesome and did a great job on the tour.

    How much was the Uber?

Uber pricing is dynamic, based on demand. We took an Uber from a hotel in the Ocean Park area and I think it was $10, this was around 9:30 am. The Uber from Bacardi to the ferry port was $11 around noon. The Bacardi tasting tour was excellent! I highly recommend it.

  4. We just did the tour a couple weeks ago. We took an Uber to the Bacardi facility. After our tour was done, we took an Uber to the ferry port and took the ferry over to Old San Juan for $.75. Cool ride over.

If you cruise out of the same port we did, there's not an easy way to get to ferry from there. You could take an Uber to Old San Juan and take the ferry from there, or simply Uber directly to the facility.

a few more things (shower thoughts)!

    1. straws! since these were so heavily debated about before I went... I had received some biodegradable fancy paper straws in a subscription box a few years ago I hadn't used, so figured I'd bring them since maybe it would be hard without straws?? Well, I still haven't used them. I only ordered slushy drinks when on deck and it was hot enough that the slush melted enough to make it drinkable without a straw. All other liquid drinks were fine without one (and maybe it is better to sip slowly than slurp half a drink in one go? Food for thought 😉 )

    2. just a general opinion. There is so much talk about Haven and upgrading to Haven/so many reviews from Haven people here that I got it in my head I would not enjoy my vacation without being in Haven. As you read, I didn't get upgraded to Haven. I'm sure I would have loved it there, however I had a wonderful, indulgent time with all the "commoners" (lol)- so just keep it all in mind when planning your vacation and don't worry about keeping up with the Joneses if it isn't in your budget. You will forget it is even there (they do a good job of hiding it from everyone).

I've seen some mention of them switching to paper straws, but no straws? Is that what you experienced? That seems a little extreme on NCL's part. I don't normally use straws, but I do like them in certain drinks. My DW uses them in every drink, so we'll definitely need to bring our own if they continue the no straws policy.

We are getting an early ferry over to Belize. We have a short excursion there and then ferry back to HC. This way we get a true "sample" of Belize without missing out on the great pool and pretty Beach. We love Belize and the people are wonderful. Placencia is an adorable place with some fun restaurants. Enjoy and have fun.

I'd like to do the same. Where can I find info on the ferry (prices, times, reservations)?
