  1. Hello All,

As some others said, I am also on the lower budget side traveler/cruiser.

100-150 USD / day / person what I can spend on a trip.

But still I think being on a big ship and cruise by Antarctica you can get a glimpse of that wonderland. Seeing whales and birds on the way and enjoy the ports on those locations you are actually allowed to land.

Thanks for the tip with balcony cabin.  I was not sure how important is to have your own view, but yes I can imagine that the decks are crowded when there is something to see out there.

  2. We are Celebrity Silhouette this November and I am looking forward to our Tobago visit as this is a rarely visited port.

Looked up some YouTube videos and actually it seems they have MaxiTaxi shared shuttles to tourist destinations. I think it is a cheap island and I don't expect to pay more than few dollars to the e.g. Pigeon Point. Other thing I consider is to hire a taxi for full day island tour. I don't expect to pay more than 120-150 USD...  I m sure there will be a lot of official/unofficial taxis to offer their services when the ship docks. It seems they are really fighting to attract more and more ships stop here so they appreciate any business.

Our excursion ended up canceling the day before embarkation.  We just took UBER to our hotel in Ft.Lauderdale and spent the day at the pool!

It was an awesome day too!

Thanks for the update. I hope they won't cancel ours. We always have this trouble what to do with the luggage on debarkation day. We went to the Aventura Mall few times, but they don't have luggage storage anymore. It is less fun to do the shopping and carry all of your stuff..

  4. I enjoy reading the different comments.

Maybe I am just lucky or careful enough but never considered losing my original passport during port days.

Of course you can decide how to deal with this topic, based on past experience, preference etc, but in a foreign country I would not go anywhere without my original passport.

More worried about being left behind as I prefer not to pay for the tours organized by the cruise line. 🙂 or to forget my own mask for diving.

I wish all of you not to have any issues!

BTW any experience losing the shipcard? I wonder how you deal with that...

  5. We always take our actual passport with us wherever is our port. (EU citizens)

In case you miss your ship due to any reason, you need that to board a plane to get home or to rejoin your cruise.

We do have a pre-printed checklist for each cruiser, and for each port we have game in the mornings to play. Tick the items you packed. We then attach it to the wall with a magnet. 🙂

It is a basic sheet printed from excel listing items like: passport, sunscreen, phone, travel insurance, snorkel gear, towel, sunglasses, raincoat, cash, drinking bottle, any other stuff you may need.. long list.

I love doing that, helps me to prepare for the day 🙂

  6. Not about the over bed bins but the regular wardrobe.

I recently noticed in a cabin review video that there are no selves at all.

Only option is to hang your stuff. I was also thinking to pack a foldable store like this one.

    What do you guys think?

For the over bad storage definitely need some foldable cubes for smaller items.

How do you work out which inside rooms have sofas and not chairs? We usually travel with Disney where every room on every ship seems to have a review but on Celebrity it's hard to find a listing of rooms with sofas. This is for Silhouette and Millennium if anyone knows of such a list.

I like the question. I was trying to find it out by myself as well.

Please note this is just my theory. Not speaking from experience.

I think in this ship class the front inside cabins are more narrow, but a bit longer, therefore there is space for the sofa. Less space to pass by the bed.

Aft inside cabins are wider, so there is only a chair to sit at the corner, no sofa. But little bit more space to walk around the bed.

    Any comments are welcome!

I don't think Prime is going to be bigger although I agree that it should be spacious in its own right. Celebrity's own explanation of that category doesn't say that (although it does for Edge class Deluxe Inside cabins). Did you see something that leads you to believe otherwise?

Maybe it is just the layout, as the bed being set perpendicular and there is still space to walk past to it. On Summit the inside cabin had a different layout, it was more narrow I think, but that is a different class I know.. we will see.

  9. We had front inside cabin deck 7 on other cruise line where the bed was perpendicularly setup and we did feel a lot of movements.

For few nights the ocean was really choppy.  But I did enjoy that 🙂 was not disturbing at,

all but I would not choose that location again.

For our next cruise we have an inside mid/aft location. Deck 10. We will see how that is..

    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know what the difference is between an inside stateroom and a prime inside stateroom

    on Celebrity ?

I just booked prime inside on Celebrity Silhouette Deck 10. I really hope it is not only the location but also expect it to be slightly bigger. But anyway Celebrity's inside cabin are really spacious I think. Really looking forward to the cruise. As per the cabin review videos the bathrooms looks nice size as well.

Would be good to hear some recent experience though. 🙂

  11. After checking it on the Celebrity website I find that the continental breakfast is still FREE, you only pay room service fee on other meals and beverages.

    Copied from the website:

Does Celebrity Cruises offer room service?

24-hour room service is available any time of the day or night - simply order from the room service menu located in your stateroom (Room service fee of $9.95* applies). An 18% gratuity is additional and will automatically be added to your check.

Continental breakfast room service is complimentary. Available from 6am – 11am each day of the cruise except disembarkation day.

*Room service fee is subject to change without notice. 24-hour room service is complimentary for guests of The Retreat and Zenith Captain Club members.

  12. Same topic different question.

Is there any way to upload cash on your account pre-cruise? (First time with Celebrity)

E.g. Carnival has this option, you can pre-purchase cruise cash just like an excursion.

I m not willing to provide my bank card details at all, so if it does not work, then we just add cash while boarding I guess.

    Thanks

We sail frequently in inside cabins.

The Summit recently went thru a renovation.

Unfortunately the closet space was reduced !!!

Definitely would NOT recommend 4 people in the same inside cabin.

There are many connecting insides at the front of the ship.

We have done that MANY times for a month or more at a time.

The other issue is the pullman berth.

Many think normal Celebrity beds are hard.

The pullman is like sleeping on the floor !!!

I dont see how you can sleep 4? The sofa enough for one person, we bring our daughter with us.  The beds are fine but cant fit 3 people.  There is no floor space for the 4th person once the sofa is pulled out! Unless its 2 parents and 2 kids, 3 adults and a teenager will not work in a inside...How can celebrity not tell you this. I am very stingy with money and always book inside but there is nooo way this is possible.

We have a booking for next year Jan in cabin inside 7046.

This room comes with a convertible sofa for the 3rd guest.

All the inside cabin photos shows the bed in the inside cabins being positioned parallel to the side walls and between the room and bath there is the sofa and the dressing table.

This would mean if we open the sofa bed, that is fully blocking the space in the middle so those sleeping in the normal beds (twin setting) can not exit to the bathroom in the night.

I m searching for photos with open sofa bed but could not find any.

Would it be possible that for rooms with convertible sofa has different layout?

E.g. like the balcony rooms, the bed perpendicular to the side walls, and the dressing table and sofa not by the bathroom, but by the rear wall.

Also can any of you tell me if the room steward is closing/opening the sofa bed every morning/evening?

    Thanks a lot.

Was just on the Summit last month. The dry saunas in the spa changing rooms are free, however the steam rooms are in the persian gardens, which costs extra (unless you're in an aqua class cabin). On our 7 day trip, they were charging $20 a day or $99 for the entire cruise to use the persian gardens.

    Thanks very helpful.

I was thinking that the dry sauna is also inside the PG, so comes with a fee, but good to hear that it is accessible from the changing and its free.

  15. Hi,

I have a question not about the same cabin nrs but another inside 7046.

I m desperately searching for photos with open sofa bed but could not find any.

Would it be possible that for rooms with convertible sofa has different layout?

A first cruise is very exciting.  I remember how excited and nervous I was when I booked my first cruise.  I tried to imagine what it would be like, but nothing really compared to actually doing it.

Same with me. You love it or hate it, but most probably you will love it and after you are back home, you will find yourself searching for the next one immediately.

I was also very nerovus, but planning and reading helped a lot.

One of my unanswered questions, with the answer I already know after cruise. Might help you:

How the on/off the ship works when you arrive at a port?

There is lot of embarkation and disembarkation info tips but I could not find much on the ports.

When you book a cruise you can see if the port is docking or tender.

Docking is easy, cruise director is announcing when you can get off and you just simply walk off from the ship.

    Listen to the announcements.

Tender ports are more tricky. On Carnival they distribute small stickers in the morning in a designated area (bar).

You need to go there, queue and pick up these stickers. Cruise director will announce the nr of the sticker and also where to go to get in the small boats.

For us the first occasion was a nightmare. (Gran Cayman)There was a massive line and ppl looked at you like sh** (I was wondering around trying to find our what is going on here) and aggressively notifying you to go to the end of the line.  We also lost each other with my friends...  We got nr 11, but that was still the first tender boat. (We thought we will have to wait a lot) Overall the tender get off, was fast. But the process really bad.

So I would suggest that if you dont want all of you to stand in line for long time, agree to meet in your room or maybe at a table in the Lido, and send one person to the bar very early to pick up stickers.

My personal opinion is that: I would not choose any cruise where there is more than 1 tender port in the itinerary, but preferably 0.

Maybe other cruise lines work with different system but this was really bad and I could not find any review about this process prior to our cruise.
