Where was the car rental pickup/drop off? Was it convenient to the port so walking distance? Who did you use?

So may questions and I appreciate your insights.

The car rental was Royal car rental and it is located in the cruise port passenger terminal that you walk through when you get off the ship.  It is extremely convenient and I paid 50 to 60usd at the time.

Hey @yhave1neWe're going this year Oct 29 - Nov 9; not sure exactly which day is Corfu as I don’t have itinerary handy.

Would you say a long sleeve t-shirt layered w/lightweight rain jacket is adequate?

Anything particular we need to be aware of - it's our first time to Corfu.

    Thank you!

That attire is definitely appropriate.   Nothing in particular to be aware of. If you can rent a car, do so.  It was so cheap and we were able to  do all of the things that NCL offered as individual excursions.  We found the beach just riding around town.  We also went on a boat excursion around the coastline for like 60 euros for 4 people.  We did the achilleion palace tour and just enjoyed the freedom renting a car provided for us.  We got back in plenty of time and even had time to do some shopping.  It was my first cruise and I planned all of the excursions instead of going with NCL.  The savings were tremendous - instead of paying 1000+ for 4 people, I paid under 400.  Don't be afraid to be adventurous.   Just be sure to keep track of the time.

  3. We actually cruised to Corfu late October - like last week of October - we actually enjoyed the beach!  The water was amazingly warm, the beach was clean and the sand was very fine.

I don't remember which beach on Corfu we went to unfortunately.

Hmmm, your Oct experience was totally different than Mapleleave's Sep experience.

I'd be happy if we got to the top by 2:30pm (our NCL Breakaway is 1-10p, and a small Seabourne ship with only 500 pax will be there already from 8am.)   I was looking to book a private excursion for our group of 14, but not if we won't get up until 4pm! And walking up in the heat of July is not an option.

Now I'm not sure if we should chance it. I'm leaning on taking the NCL excursion.

I understand the hesitation.   I have only been to Santorini 2x both in the month of October. I didn't have to wait as long as others have experienced either time.  I'm guessing going in late October may be the reason; however, with only 1 ship in port, I don't believe you will have such a long wait.  I'd be interested to know how it goes for you.  Our first time we booked a private excursion for just the 4 of us and our drove did an amazing job.

  5. We were there in late October on the NCL Jade this year from 1 to 10 pm.  We were the only ship in port with another ship coming in later.  We were not on a ship excursion which made our tender time longer. However,  it took us less than an hour to get off the boat and then less than 20 minutes to get on the cable car.  I thought it would be longer as we reserved a rental car for 2:30 but we had time to stop and eat lunch before meeting the guy to pick up our rental.

  6. I had a cruise scheduled for Thanksgiving week this year but cancelled because of the COVID-19 concerns.  Our next cruise isn't scheduled until September of 2021 followed by a cruise in October of 2022.   I would think that would be time enough to allow this Pandemic to come to some type of resolution - even if no vaccine has been developed.  My desired cruises are overseas and so I don't see cruising happening anytime in 2020.  The November cruise was to the Caribbean which is also up in the air with Port access as well.  I will just schedule a land vacation here in the US for the end of the year.  I am very antsy to get out of the house and be able to comfortably sit at a restaurant, a concert, anything!  I can wait though.   I can definitely wait.

  7. No it isn't free at sea.  I think they mistakenly thought I used a casino cruise certificate when I just booked thru the casino to get the 20% discount.  I'm still trying to get it worked out.  Casino rep confirmed that I should not have any administrative fees on my account and should get my full refund.

  8. NCL cancelled my Asian cruise that was set to sail 02/28/2021.  I paid my deposit with 2 cruisenext certificates I had. They only credited me back 1 of the 250 certificates.  I called to get the other one refunded and they said something about administrative fees.  Then, when I called again, it had something to do with the insurance that I purchased from them.  I said that doesn't make sense when NCL cancelled the cruise.  Why would I be paying anything and when I am obviously more than 120 days out?  I have gotten the run around all day.  I booked it through my caesar's rewards to get the 20% off.  So, they say they have to transfer me to them.  I talk to them, they send me to cruisenext dept. I talk to them, they send me back to reservations because they can't explain why I am being charged any fee.

NCL is beyond desperate if they have resorted to these shenanigans.
