I got another email which stated that the draught was changed back to 10.3 m.
In my opinion the draught wasn’t changed at all.
Thank you for your answers.

Hello,
error or not? I got an email from MarineTraffic where I am monitoring the QM2, which stated, that QM2 reduced its draught from 10.3 to 8.0 m. Could that be true? If yes, does the QM2 lying in the water? I’m curious about that. Maybe some of the current passengers can give me a hint.

Thank you for sharing your voyage with us. Such a well written report could never be too long.

Thank you for the updates.
I hope the sick passenger will recover from illness very soon.

Hello,
just saw that QM2 does a stop at Dakar on her way to Walfish Bay. Does anybody know the reason?
-
If you plan to start your crossing the same day as you arrive in London, it’s better to book Cunard-air and Cunard-transfer to Southampton. If there are delays Cunard is responsible and may delay also the departure of your crossing.
But I recommend to fly at least one day early for your convinience.

Actual picture from MarineTraffic:

As cruiseluvva has written, you will have no problems to connect to the American site, but you will have the same trouble to reach the Cunard
UK site from New York.
-
Hope they will be able to play all planned concerts with David Garrett. As I know the next voyage of QM2 is a charter for „Stars at sea“ agency.

As I know, Cunard had an agreement with Blohm & Voss shipyard and Queen Victoria's refit should have been done there. I was surprised that the maintenance work was relocated to Fincantieri. Maybe the reason was that Blohm and Voss was sold to another shipyard (Lürßen) and the contract is not valid anymore.
In my eyes we have to wait until Cunard reveals more about the refit.

The mud is no reason for not docking at Hafencity Terminal, because her draught is less than the draught of QM2. But QV and QE where often docked to the Altona-Terminal. Also from this Terminal you do not pass the Landungsbrücken.
-
I hope not. The problem is, that mud which is there could not be taken away all times of the year. There's only a small window from January to March. This has to do with environmental reasons which I do not really understand.

Hello, there is also a send off for other ships, but not as big as for QM2.
Also the send off for QM2 is a quieter from last year, because QM2 cannot dock at Hafencity-Terminal. There's too much mud at the ground and her draught is to high.
QM2 docks at Steinwerder Terminal which is more an industrial area.
Because of this QM2 does not pass the " Landungsbrücken" where many people gave her a great send off. But there are other areas at river Elbe where the people are waiting for "their Queen".

Thank you for the link to this movie. It looks like that only people from US are allowed to watch. I was not able to watch through my standard German account. Also a proxy from England does not work. With an US-proxy there was no problem watching the movie.

Now QM2 is back on her way to Southampton.

Hello, I just wondered, why QM2 did a short stop of one hour in Halifax last night instead doing the TA from New York to Southampton as scheduled. . Maybe somebody aboard is able to tell us what happened.
Best Regards

Hello,
this is the last position of QM2 using MarineTraffic with enabled satellite tracking:
-
QM2 is performing some seatrials in the North Sea nearby Helgoland.
-
It's between three and four hours from Hamburg to the North Sea.
In most times QM2 reaches open waters in darkness as most departures from Hamburg are in the evening.
There are some good viewing points to watch QM2. The photo below I took direct at the line between North Sea and River Elbe.
There QM2 was on the way to Hamburg.
-
Thank you John for your explanation which sounds plausible.

What's this? QM2 in front and the Lifeboat behind?

Turning off data roaming should be sufficient.
For voice calls be sure to not have setup any forwarding for voice calls, because then you have to pay roaming fees for the incoming call to your phone and also the outgoing call to maybe your mailbox. Be sure to turn off the forward for calls which reach your phone if it's busy, you can't pick up the call or your phone is not connected to a network separate.

I don't think that QM2 will sail from Southampton on Oct 10th this year. She is now in Quebec and will arrive in NY on Oct 11th and will then sail eastbound to Southampton.
There could be some rough seas on her way to NY but I think the hurricane is eastern enough to harm QM2.

Thank you for taking us with you on the wonderful crossing. I think you will have a good time. Will you disembark in Southampton or will you stay until Hamburg or further?
