Hi, I’m new to cruising and have booked this Japan cruise for October. What is a ghost cruise? We booked this as a package with stays in Dubai then Tokyo before boarding. I’ve seen some really negative comments about MSC since so hoping we’ve made the right choice.
Also on this one

We have booked this cruise while onboard Seashore in November/December 23. Just booked our flights from UK.
As you say very difficult to find out much information. I know she did 21 day dry dock in Shanghai at end of 2023.
it will certainly be an adventure.

the wave runner excursion.
The excursion is well worth the price. We were a little worried, at the start, because there was a lot of waiting around in the sun. Once we got to the actual watercraft, we were assigned a number based on if we were comfortable going fast or not. Slow pokes in the back! It was almost an hour of going full throttle, zig zagging back and forth, as we made our way to three different spots around the island. At one stop, we could jump off and spend some time in waist deep water. You did have to stay in line, but there was usually 50-100 yards between each other.
Would you recommend wave runner excursion for novices?
thanks

Hello, planning the 13 night Sydney to Fiji in 2025 on Royal Princess. What currency is used onboard AUD or USD? I ask as some threads seem to suggest drinks package onboard is in AUD and is cheaper to buy onboard rather than prebuy at UK GBP rate.
thanks.

Looking forward to following. We are on her from Port Canaveral in November

Thanks. I saw from Google they are close together.
I knew about the draw bridge from other replies you have written. thanks for the knowledge shared.

First time at PC. We arrive from UK and will, have hire car for a few days in Orlando. When we drive to PC plan is to drop wife and luggage at dock 10 for MSC and then fuel and return car to Alamo and I understand there is a shuttle back to the dock. Question is on cruise return to PC. We will do a 1 day hire to MCO do I phone Alamo for the shuttle to collect us or is there a schedule. We are the only ship in PC on 7th December.

Thanks for the info... re the ruins.. MSC does offer a small group (max 12) tour.. but just curious folks personal experiences on how crowded it can get...
and for the beach clubs in town... for us.. they just look a little too crowded in with chairs for a small beach... just not our thing.. thanks!!
@exeter_acres We are on same cruise. Booked a 4h tour today with https://www.thenativechoice.com after reading reviews here.

Although we have had good pianist/singers in TSL it would be nice to have some more variety - maybe a performer from elsewhere on ship or singer from the theatre group.
Gangplank over the side for interlopers 🙂

We managed to book with CPS £125 earlier. No consolation I know.
we are staying the weekend at the Hilton and it is £108 b&b pernight so if 1 night plus parking is £192 it is good value.

Until they restock all of them and the cycle continues.....
They would normally only restock with what you want

I was very surprised on our last MSC cruise that the room steward refused to empty the fridge for us. We had to do this by ourselves and even had to store all the unwanted stuff in the wardrobe for the whole cruise. This never happened on any MSC cruise before and we had the fridge always emptied. If this even happens in YC now that is not a good sign.
Never had an issue having this done. If it happens on next cruise I will empty contents of unwanted drinks down sink and they can remove empties

We've traveled with 2-3 large rolling luggage and never had a problem with a shuttle telling us there was a limit. Check directly with the shuttle company you'll be using.
Thank you

Question from a Brit about the shuttle services. What is the luggage allowance per person?

We prefer PC to Miami even though Miami has a more scenic sail away. Of course our homeport of NYC has the best sail away ever, though I may be a little biased. 😎
Being Brits sailing into NYC is our number 1 experience. Never tire of the views.

There is only one "excursion" at Port Canaveral to the Kennedy Space Center, so you are correct.
I can't speak to the immigration questions, though
Thank you

Hello
Does anyone have information on excursions that MSC offer with a drop-off at MCO? I can only see 1 excursion on website (we are still to make a booking so can opt see excursions) which is Kennedy space centre but it requires international flights to be after 7.30pm which is later than our UK return flight.
Also immigration at PC - we fly into MCO from UK, then board at PC so i guess biometrics are done at immigration at MCO? If so does this make immigration on boarding and disembarkation quicker for international passengers?

That was the original itinerary. Changed on MSC website now.

Well some big changes to the Virtuosa Grand Voyage Rome to Doha in our case. (I only show the difference below)
08/11/2021 Still Departs Civitavecchia
14/11/2021 Changes to Limassol, Cyprus instead of Suez transit
15/11/2021 and 16/11/2021 is now Suez transit
16/11/2021 Aqaba, Jordan is removed
18/11/2021 Jeddah, Saudi Arabia added
21/11/2021 Salalah, Oman is removed
26/11/2021 & 27/11/2021 in Dubai now becomes 26/11/2021 - 28/11/2021 in Dubai
29/11/2021 Abu Dhabi instead of 28/11/2021
30/11/2021 Sir Bani Yas Island instead of 29/11/2021
01/12/2021 Dammam Saudi Arabia replaces Bahrain.
02/12/2021 Doha
In reality not a surprise that Saudi Arabia now features given the news MSC announced yesterday. For us it adds 2 additional new ports. But a shame to miss Jordan and Bahrain.

With the Grandiosa restarting today (24th Jan) I hope that MSC have the same good results as per their previous restart. I guess the main thing is those going on current cruises know the rules before booking. You would need to hope that on cruises later in year if the rules are in place people booked already agree to abide by them. That will be the challenge.
Our next is 24 nights from Italy to Dubai and Middle East if we are allowed to go being British, none of the onboard restrictions would stop me going. THe bigger challenge could be multi-country rules and even getting back into UK.

I had a meeting with someone last month who'd visited prior to the lockdown and stayed on here Cavalleri, Imperial Level, booked through American Express travel. He was disappointed because he felt it didn't meet Waldorf Astoria standards, found things to be a bit less clean than he'd thought it should be and a bit outdated. They were disappointed insofar as expectations went, although I don't believe it was intolerable.
I was trying to determine if maybe the style was perhaps just not to their liking, (to some people outdated might not necessarily account for a precise design style) although it wouldn't account for cleanliness, though I cannot attest to a barometer for those standards.
Another thing they didn't like was the long walk back (they really weren't that savvy) back from Trevi one night, but anyway....
I suggested (to this person) he use Virtuoso when next traveling (he's not a DIYer) but you are here and so you've got all of the fine recommendations from everyone here. 😉
For me, I want to be in Centro Storico (or a few minutes from it on foot) or adjacent, and so whatever that means...even if it costs me a star, to get the location, sign me up.
Happy New Year everyone! Buon Anno á tutti!
We looked at a lot of places. I agree the style is possibly “Chintz” my wife was determined to stay here so......
She promises we will use the hotel rather than go into Rome and therefore will save the money she would spend in Rome shops 🙂 And yes I have seen YouTube videos with what looks like shops in the hotel or at least cabinets with items for sale.

The Cavalleri is an extremely nice hotel. Make sure you get a Rome view room, Imperial Level if you can. The buffet breakfast is amazing...not cheap, tho.
Unfortunately just a standard room. Hopefully we will get Rome side. But breakfast is included 🙂

October this year for us all going to plan. Very difficult to find any groups on this cruise. Looking forward to the adventure.
