So I have been working away on a chair in the Solarium.  I am also listening to an audio book with my Bose noise cancelling headphones on Quiet so cannot really hear the announcements.  I heard the captain sound the horn awhile ago (can't miss that) and the ship started to chug a little while later.  It felt like we were moving, but I thought "That cannot be right" because sail away is not for hours and continued working.  Sure enough I look up 30 minutes later and we are no longer where we were and were in motion.

Apparently there was a big container ship that needed to get out and could not get around us so we had to move in order to make room.  We are pulling back into the terminal now.

Hopefully this does not delay folk's embarkation too long!

Actually this led to quite the fiasco. We had a 10:30 embarkation time but we were herded into the large area where bags are picked up at the end of the cruise. We were given water but no instructions. With no cell service available we were left in the dark. When they did start boarding, no consideration was given to original embarkation times. We ended up being toward the end of the crowd. Not a great start but we were able to put it behind us and have a great time.

UBER will run around $100 each way but if you could split the ride with another group or depending on how many you are this MIGHT be cost effective.

The warning if you don't know the area: part of the route from Port to Orlando/Disney is pretty much a single road (Beachline expressway) with no way to get off once on it (part) and it is not unusual for an accident to cause everything to stop for hours ...... alternate routes significantly increase travel time ...   "cruise will wait for their excursions if they are late" is what many count on . .

    Thank you, that makes sense

  3. Could you expand a bit on your trip to Disney Springs please? We are booked for the excursion (6 of us at $39 each) but I was wondering if there is an easier way. Uber,Lyft? Not sure what the prices would be. I'm concerned that we would be wasting time at the Disney transportation hub. Thank you

The few times we did it, we rented a car.  Also we were only going to Disney Springs.  I would not do a park because of the limited time in PC and the cost of a one day ticket.  If still had an annual pass, it might change my opinion

  4. Hello,

We will be sailing on Oasis of the Seas with Port Canaveral being our first port of call. We are interested in visiting Disny Springs. Does anyone have info on transportation and cost?

We are booked for the Disney excursion to the transportation hub but I was wondering if their is a quicker or cheaper way. Thank you
