Thanks so much for the trip report! I will be on the identical cruise, departing from Rome on July 20th. I was on a Greek island cruise on Seabourn last summer and spent a couple of days in Athens before the cruise so I'm skipping Athens for my upcoming cruise for the reasons you mentioned, and will make it a nice spa day with hopefully a very quiet ship! Thank you especially for sharing your experiences about the heat, Istanbul, etc. I'm diabetic and will be conscious of the heat and staying hydrated. I'm also bringing a wide-brimmed hat given how hot it will be and to give my face a bit of shade.
