Thanks so much for the trip report!  I will be on the identical cruise, departing from Rome on July 20th.  I was on a Greek island cruise on Seabourn last summer and spent a couple of days in Athens before the cruise so I'm skipping Athens for my upcoming cruise for the reasons you mentioned, and will make it a nice spa day with hopefully a very quiet ship!

Thank you especially for sharing your experiences about the heat, Istanbul, etc.  I'm diabetic and will be conscious of the heat and staying hydrated.  I'm also bringing a wide-brimmed hat given how hot it will be and to give my face a bit of shade.

Just go to the lower end of the Haven bid.  The ships are all running now at low capacity.  Even if you don’t get the haven, you will still have a great time.

The entertainment has been good.  Decent piano guy in Crooners, good jazz trio in Take 5, and the production show “Rock Opera” was excellent.  Last night we heard the Comedian was very good although we missed that show.

Thank you so much for your amazing cruise report and all of the information you shared.  I am a heavy traveler but a relative cruise newbie.  I'm taking off the first 3 months of next year and will be on THREE cruises (casino promotions -- I love Vegas 🙂), the first one of which will be on the Joy 7 weeks from today, then the Encore 8 weeks from tomorrow and then a 20-day cruise on the Enchanted Princess starting in late February.

I'll be cruising solo -- I love solo travel -- and would love to get your recommendations as I seek to get a Haven upgrade from a regular balcony room.  I would love to have the Haven experience -- on both the Joy and Encore -- but as a solo cruiser I don't want to overspend in the bidding process.  

Thank you again for taking the time to share and, most important, I'm very happy that you had such an extraordinary experience with your family.

Same here.  I will enjoy the cruise no matter what but I'm on a 20-day cruise starting February 28th and like a good variety of entertainment.

This is very informative to hear.  I'm on a 20-day cruise on the Enchanted Princess that commences in late February and ends on March 20th.  I have relatives I have never met who live in Eleuthera and I always assumed I could do some touring with them for a more unique and personal port stop but that turns out that may not be the case.  

Thanks OP for the question.  I have only been on two cruises to date (one Princess and one NCL) but will take THREE cruises between mid-January and mid-March as I'll be in between jobs.  I'm very excited.  My two late January cruises are also B2B (or whatever the correct term is) and based in Miami with one night in a Miami hotel still to be determined.  

I'm a class over packer but I'm going to challenge myself to back just carryon and I'll be solo.  My February/March cruise is 20 days and I'll likely have a larger piece of checked luggage.  

I'm researching Miami hotels now so if I get any school regarding laundry services I'll pass them on but I like the option of doing laundry once before the end of the first cruise and then being relatively set for the second cruise.  I also have no probably with doing some quick hand/sink laundry for socks or lingerie.
