Then you don’t live in the real world my wife has beaten lung cancer and Crohns and we travel extensively including 3-5 weeks on cruise ships a year. In fact we will be sailing in 10 days. You can’t stop living but you can live safely

I am sorry you and your wife had to go through that, and happy for both of you that she's beaten it.  Not knowing that, I meant no disrespect to you or her.  I did think you meant someone with active cancer.  I'm happy for you that can continue to cruise, if that's what you choose to do.  My apologies for the misunderstanding and I wish you and your wife many happy, healthy years.

If you spread the cold to an 80 year old with lung cancer it will not kill them covid might

If I was an 80 year old with lung cancer, I wouldn't step foot on a cruise ship, or airplane, or any other crowded event.  I doubt many 80-year-old lung cancer patients would.  Just saying....

I agree in-principle with this philosophy, but do you think a 30% COVID rate is acceptable? I'm just LOVING being isolated at home for 2 weeks (best case)

Just curious -- where is that 30% covid rate statistic coming from?  I haven't seen anything official that states that, or any percentage.  Not saying there weren't/aren't cases on board but 30% seems awfully high to me.  If it's "30% of the Roll Call group", that I totally understand.  How many people were in the Roll Call vs how many people were on board?  It is possible that the roll call group actually passed covid to each other when they met?  The last Roll Call I attended was years ago, and we were pretty close to each other and chatted together for over an hour.  Just saying....

  4. Question -- does Princess make you select an embarkation time?  I ask because I sailed last month on RC and we had to pick the time we'd arrive.  If we arrived outside that hour, we'd have to wait.  (We were right on time and walked pretty much straight onto the ship.)  I'm wondering if Princess does something like that for embarkation?  Of course, that won't help if the disembarkation issues, deep cleaning, crew testing, etc. stuff makes everything backup.

  5. Personally Ruby is our favorite ship.  We're doing Hawaii in Oct and Panama Canal next April.  Lots of fun activities, good music/dancing, great service and food.

I have seen the posts about the covid issues on the Ruby, but that is the risk we all take in this day and age.  We each have to assess the risk for ourselves and make a decision we're comfortable with.  I'm comfortable with the safety precautions I take for myself, so I will continue to cruise. Please don't bash me or try to change my mind.  You do you and I'll do me.

We were on Equinox Aug 10th and 17th.  They had "movies" on the TV, but they were all so old and not worthwhile.  Yes they had movie rentals for I think $14.99 , but NOTHING new or newer.

The "big screen" up on the lawn club also played the same OLD movies.  We have the TV on while dressing or getting ready for dinner, while having breakfast in the cabin and enjoy it.  The other channels are repeat from old showings like food network.

We are NOT fans of Princess, but at lease they have new and newer movie selection which is really nice.

X, just took another thing away, but since the movies were so old no real interest

Thank you for the confirmation, even if it wasn't what I was hoping for. 🙂  I guess I'll have to get a bunch of movies loaded up on my laptop to bring because like others, we enjoy watching something beside TV reruns before bed.  And I'll make sure to let Celebrity know how disappointing it is.

As of now nobody has notified us that any Ship has free on demand movies.  In fact two the Reflection and Silhouette have let us know there are no free on demand movies.  This will only be a "one off" if people let X know it's a cheap move.  If you take the time to read my opening post I stated that mid week they pulled the free movies on the Equinox.   They were still gone at the end of the cruise which was Saturday Sept 7 and you can look back to my opening post to read what I was told. Wishing that it is not true is not going to be enough.  Call X and let them explain to you why you will not have free on demand movies.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to say I didn't believe you or anything.  I did read your original post, which did alarm me, and is why I created an account to actually ask if anyone had seen the same thing on the Equinox since your experience.  I was hoping it was just a glitch for that one cruise, like maybe a messed up signal because of the hurricane or something.  Sorry for the bother, and I appreciate your feedback.

We board September 23rd, I will do some posts and will let you know if no one else responds first...

Thank you chemmo.  I appreciate it.  I know others have said a couple of other ships don't have any, but I'm specifically looking for verification on the Equinox, hoping the OP's experience was just a "one off" or something.  Probably wishful thinking on my part. 🙂

  9. Please forgive me if this was already answered, but can anyone whose been on the Equinox recently verify that no or very limited free movies are available in the cabin?  Our first ever cruise with Celebrity is this November, and we're trying to prepare for that possibility.

    Thank you in advance.

(First post but long time "lurker" on cruisecritic 🙂
