  1. I can't believe they have refused to give a reason given how close to the sailing we are. Then to have the cheek to suggest purchasing excursions. Given the need my party has for an accessible excursion, P&Os offering is non existent to see Geiranger Fjord.

Its just another thing on a long list of baffling decisions p&o makes.

  2. Hi All,

I have an upcoming cruise on Iona around the Norwegian Fjords. My partner is a wheelchair user and will need assisted boarding. The p&o website states we should stick to our boarding time however due to her condition we have to travel by train. Because of this our arrival into Southampton is out of our control. Does anyone have any experience in how p&o deal with wheelchair users arriving early?

It wasn’t that there were long lines, we got seated quite quickly. But there was a very long wait for the food to actually be delivered.

Had a very similar experience with the MDR at breakfast on Oasis last week. Seemed to be seated quickly but the wait for the food was pretty long.

Breakfast all over seemed a little lackluster but the rest of the dining was great and I am definitely looking to cruise more on oasis class ships.

  4. My understanding of it going by the definitions is, if you hadn't had your booster and your last vaccine was more than 270 days ago then it would classify you as fully vaccinated rather than up to date.

Up to date is you were fully vaccinated within the last 270 days or you have had a booster at any point in time.

It could probably be worded a little better as it is a tad confusing.

  5. So in a suprise development the royal app is showing that my guarantee cabin on oasis in November has been allocated 200+ days prior to sailing.

While my gamble could have been worse we have been given room 11268 which is off the hallway to the stairs/elevator. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with noise in this area. While it will save us walking the long corridors I am a little concerned that there might be slamming doors or groups gathering infront of the room.

I was also wondering if this cabin is likely to change due to how early it has been allocated.

Sorry to bother you but I just can’t find a page where I can choose “guaranteed oceanview balcony”

once I click Select under We Pick Your Room it takes me to “Who is traveling” page.

    😞

Ah it seems that it might be a UK site thing where it lets me choose ocean view balcony guarantee. I made the foolish mistake of assuming the US site would be the same.

  7. If you select "you pick your room" there is a guaranteed Ocean view balcony at the bottom of the list should you feel like you must have a sea view balcony but dont care where on the ship it is. From what I have noticed the guaranteed ocean balcony is not much more than guaranteed anywhere balcony.

I think you are more likely to end up with a park view or boardwalk balcony with the RCI picking but it would depend on your sailing.

  8. As Icon is looking like it is going to be similar to an oasis class ship I think Icon could benefit if the royal promenade was moved up a deck so that the lower floor can continue to flow into the boardwalk. Then central park would also have to move up a deck. This would allow more natural light into the end of the promenade as well.

That move of 1 deck would also allow the ice-rink to gain more height so it can be replaced with a seaplex like on the quantum class ships. This new found 2 deck height space could also house the strange sphere thing. Then if this was done right huge windows can be installed around the seaplex to give a sea view. As I feel a common complaint of oasis class ships is they struggle to connect with the sea.

Then more towards the forward section of the seaplex/royal promenade can have a 4 deck tall atrium encouraging movement between the inner entertainment decks with a skylight from central park.

*I have no evidence for any of this, just what I would change about an oasis ship

  9. I believe there were rumours originating from a survey they sent out that it would be an adult only area but I don't think anything was confirmed about what Hideaway beach would actually be.

Ive got my first ever Royal Caribbean cruise in November, on Oasis ots which is stopping at coco cay the same day as Odyssey ots. If the ships are back towards full capacity by then the coco cay expansion would be a welcome one.

  10. Just 1 day shy of 6 months they finally refunded me. It only took 11 phone calls totaling 322 minutes. (For those wondering first thing in the morning is the best time, but you will also connect quickly past 4:30 but cashops is closed then so they are limited in what they can do)

The customer service department seem lovely and incredibly helpful however they are vastly let down by cashops who have no concept of the passage of time.

I doubt you need court action. Even a debit card gives you chargeback rights under the Visa and Mastercard rules. Contact your bank with the facts and a claim.

Oh right, I didn't believe debit cards fell under the section 75 protections. Thanks for the advice.

  12. Day 161 of my refund request.

Having had p&o send my check to the wrong address twice... And a bank transfer promised which for some reason might take 14 days to clear I've had enough.

I also have a promise of a phone call back tomorrow so I would like to go into that well informed. Unfortunately I paid via debit card via a TA so I don't suppose anyone has had any experience in the small claims court with p&o over refunds?

  13. Well ive just worked out ive made the 100 day club. Currently being on day 103 and day 22 since they said they are sending me the refund via check. How long have other people had to wait since getting an email saying their check is on the way?

I think the only people who have raised possible overcrowding are those who do not like such a large ship. The only way we will find out is once the maiden cruise sets sail.
The shows detailed in the email look as though they will be worth watching, especially in the atrium where people will be able to watch the arial performance from different decks which overlook the atrium. I am sure they will be spectacular and very popular.
I cannot understand the constant negativity some posters show towards a ship that nobody has sailed on yet. I am excited by the prospect at sailing on her in less than 10 weeks time and looking forward to a cruise that will be different from the rather staid formula we are used to.

Unfortunately negativity is to be expected on forums. People like a good moan and will be passionate about decisions the company takes. Sometimes its important to keep them in check but it really needs to be balanced.

Personally the space ratios have me a tad concerned but I am in the belief that Iona will be managed well to minimise those issues. The fact that the aitrum is being used a show location is a very welcome surprise. Im on Iona in 13 weeks and am definitely looking forward to a modern take for P&O.

  15. Not quite sure this it the right thread but...

An interesting email from P&O just arrived detailing shows for the SkyDome which was to be expected but also details about a performance in the aitrum. Using the aitrum as a performance space should really help with the overcrowding concerns.

  16. The reported cases of Wuhan dont contain everyone who has caught the virus. The reported figures are only the most serve cases. Those with mild symptoms are not included and that is where WHO has tried to guess the vast number with little to no symptoms.

As for the original point its because of the large incubation period that the virus is able to spread before people even know they have it. As such its expected the virus will spread exponentially. The 80% infected is the worst case and at the moment its all about delaying the widespread infection until summer.

  17. The minimum time according to P&O is 5 weeks before sailing so the 35 day mark. Although in my experience the cabin has been allocated before then around 50 days before sailing.

If there are a lot of cancellations they may be holding out until they have sorted out all the room changes from the cancellations and upgrades.
