  1. Just came off Caribbean Princess. 90% guests were very well dressed most nights ,definitely the formal nights . No floor lengths that I saw but many men in tux. My thought is I dress very casual at home so I like my cruise vacation to step it up a few notches.
We save the shorts for beach holidays.

    wear what makes you happy.

I don't know.  I think that would be a little crowded.

The only time we ever had one was on the Royal Princess in 2015 and that was sheer luck.  We were on a B2B and had regular lounges the first leg and then the manager asked if we were interested in reserving for the 2nd leg.  We were and he offered us a cabana at the price of 2 lounges (but without the cabana food and drink extras)!  He said he knew he wouldn't be able to sell all the cabanas but he would be able to sell all the lounges.  It was very nice but not nice enough to ever consider paying for it on subsequent cruises.

Thank you your info, it is appreciated. I am thinking it will be safe place to hide on our sea day. We fly across the country on disembarkation day. I don’t want to feel crappy.

We used the Sanctuary on the Caribbean Princess in January.  We've been in the Sanctuary on a number of Princess ships (maybe even the CB back in the day) and this was the first time I've seen the cabanas set up IIRC like this along the bow.  There were only 4 lounges on either side of the 2 massage tents with direct view of the sea.  After the lounges were 2 cabanas on each side.  All the other lounges under the 'shade' were in 3 rows.  Then there were the always in the sun lounges above the Lotus pool.

We were the second new passengers to get to the Sanctuary and the 8 direct sea view lounges were already reserved by passengers on the previous cruise.  We only saw 1 cabana on each side used very intermittently the entire week.

    Great info! Thank you.

Can four passengers book the cabana’s?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

  4. We as well are doing the Canada/New England cruise Oct 10. Our plan is to rent a car and do a quick trip to Peggy's Cove. Last time we were there it was too windy to enjoy. Then onto Lunenburg. I called the Maritime Museum and he said the Blue Nose will likely not be there. Very disappointing cause it wasn't there the last visit either. It is scheduled for maintenance the first 2 weeks of October and it might not be back. If time going to Fairview Cemetery . Even though I have a free meal waiting for us on the ship we are definitely  going to The Bicycle Thief for a meal.

  5. I know from reading posts there are many very savvy techies out there and I need help.

When I log in I can get all the way until I choose a cabin and I get an error message." We apologize for the inconvenience . Something has gone wrong and we are unable to continue to the next step. Contact a Princess Specialist." This has been happening for several weeks. I have tried using Safari and Chrome. I have used multiple devices. I even tried logging in on my husbands account. Called Princess several times and I get the same answer " We are working on It"

I think there is more to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sitting on the phone to book is a waste of time when I could do it myself.

  6. We did an unscheduled stop a few years ago due to mechanical issues. It was the best day of the cruise. We rented a car and drove 20 minutes to Port Edward and toured a fish cannery museum . Had lunch in a local’s cafe in town. We had to tender in. Would choose Prince Rupert over Victoria anytime.

Maybe this is a UK thing?

    I don't understand the problem

If there is no diagnosis then the condition doesn't exist and I wouldn't mention it

No one at Princess has ever asked us about our health except for covid questions

Your issue is with your insurance company and not with Princess at all

I have learned that one should not volunteer extra information

That is not entirely true in Canada anyways. I was booked on a dream vacation and ended up cancelling because I went for an annual Dr. appointment and was booked for an angiogram. Dr didn't really think I needed it but "just to be sure" . Since it wasn't urgent the appointment was 10 months out. I contacted the insurance and was told no coverage for any heart related problem. I argued that I have no problem until I have the test. I was told it was under investigation and therefore no coverage. I offered to pay an additional premium and was told I was uninsurable and would be for 6 months after test results were negative. Withholding the pending test from the insurance company would have ended in denied claim.

So depending on what your test is for you have to weight the risk.

Starting a Sky Princess Live thread for those who are on the 11/20and 11/27 sailings. If you are on these sailings please share your thoughts and experiences when you can. If you have an upcoming sailing on the Sky please ask any questions you may have and we’ll try to answer what we can.

My DH and I are so excited to be sailing on the Sky Princess after our cruise last November on the same ship was canceled. We’ve been waiting a long time to get on this ship and we are traveling with long-time friends from Oregon. We are sailing B2B on 11/20and 11/27 sailings which will take us to 7 ports in the eastern and western Caribbean. Looking forward to spending Thanksgiving on the ship with our friends.

We flew from CA to FL yesterday so we’d have an extra buffer day in case there were any flight cancellations or delays. We were fortunate that all our flights were on time and we met our friends at the Embassy Suites which is a short distance to FLL airport and Port Everglades. After having a couple drinks to start our vacation it was time to crash after a long day of travel and little sleep the night before we left home.

We used the Binax home test which was super easy and I’d highly recommend it. Each test took about 30 minutes from start to finish. We were planning to do the test at the hotel on Thursday evening but ended up doing the test at home in the early morning hours before our 5 am airport shuttle. I did my test at 12:15 am and DH did his at 3:30 am. There was no waiting to be connected to a certified guide for the test in the early morning hours. I felt relieved to know we were getting on the plane with negative test results in hand before flying across the country.

We have nothing scheduled for today except hanging out at the hotel pool which is lovely and the hotel happy hour which gives each person 2 free drinks. We will also be counting the hours down until we can board the Sky Princess.🛳️🍾🥂🏖️

Ahh, the power of first hand knowledge. Priceless. I do have a question about the Visa Lounge and if you could be so kind to enquire at the venue. I have heard conflicting advise regarding the noise, particularly the bass disturbing the cabins above late into the evening. Do they get a lot of complaints? Do they adjust the entertainment for the crowd? Meaning if the lounge is empty will they shut it down?

Thank you in advance for helping.

When is your cruise - mine is March 28 2022,  perhaps whoever goes first can tell the other what it was like - we are in E728 with our daughters in E 726 - unfortunately there aren’t any other side by side suite/balcony’s left on that cruise.

Yes please, if you could report back on your experience it would be much appreciated . We are sailing June 11, 22. All the suites have been sold out for months. Enjoy your vacation!

I have booked E726 and E728 Sky Princess but after booking realised the Vista Lounge is directly below. Can anyone who has been in these rooms on Sky (or Majestic or Regal or Royal) let me know if there are any noise problems apart from the normal back of ship ones?

I as well booked E728 for a 14 day cruise. I have spent many hours researching the noise and other than cruzsnooze comments I felt quite comfortable with my choice. It of course is on my mind and now I am a little concerned. I cannot believe that princess would (could )charge what they do for this cabin if we are listening to bass music every night until midnight. If this is the case I will lose my mind. So cruzsnooze could you please tell us which cabin you were in?

Blue jeans and a polo, and I fit right in

    How disappointing .

Booked and paid yesterday but will cancel today, hopefully won't take 6 months to get my money back.

Cruising has certainly become more casual. I get that. I thought even for one night we could get guzzied up go for dinner. The dressing for dinner in the early days was part of the cruising experience, an escape from reality.

We are not foodies so the dinner part is irrelevant . We were hoping for an elegant night out.

So I am so happy you enlightened us, the evening would have been ruined.

  12. We stayed there a few years ago before our cruise around the British Isles. It was a fine hotel, great location. Down side was it took several hours to get to Southampton.

we also are on the June ,2022 land of the midnight sun. We have chosen to stay in Southampton prior to the cruise.

check out the roll call for the cruise. There are several posts about precruise hotels.
