I really enjoyed reading your very funny review.:D

I'm sorry, but I don't think Dane is still working for HAL.:(
I'm sure that whatever he is doing, it's terrific, because he's one genuinely gifted guy.:)

In my humble opinion, HAL lost a good man when they lost Gary Walker.
Yup, HAL's loss is Celebrity's gain. Gary Walker was our CD on Summit for a b2b we took in Feb, 2008; we really liked him a lot.
The best CD I've ever had on a HAL cruise was Dane Butcher (Oosterdam, March, 2004). Wow, what a nice young guy, and a cutie, too!:) It seemed that everytime we turned around, there he was; he was so friendly and funny! His assistant, Kat,was a lovely young girl with lots of personality and enthusiasm. The CDs we've had on subsequent HAL cruises were. sadly, the most forgettable people.:o

C2C, thanks for keeping a running record of who's where.:D

I know you said you weren't a big fan of the shows, but I'd like to invite you to see Joel Mason's Tribute to Elton John. He's on your cruise this week, and is pretty good. I'm not just sayin' that....no, really.:D
DH & I saw his show(s) last month, and really enjoyed it.:D
He's very talented on piano, and he's a funny guy!

Our first cruise was on Century in 1996, 7 nights Western Caribbean. My husband had been trying to talk me into cruising for almost two years, and I wouldn't even consider it. Finally, he just put his foot down, and practically dragged me onto that first cruise, and you know what? When the cruise was over, he had to practically drag me OFF.:o I'm afraid it made a monster out of me.:D

We're taking our chances with the "ever present possibility of a POD problem", and doing a back to back on Summit in February, because we've had nothing but wonderful cruises on Celebrity 19 out of 19 times. Our last (and best yet) cruise was on Galaxy. Somehow, we managed to tough out the fogged windows in the Stratosphere lounge:rolleyes: . The whole "frayed & worn, stained" stuff is just not true. I saw that with my own eyes. I don't care if you think I'm a "cheerleader". I'm just reporting my true experiences with Celebrity, and they've all been great, (except the rotten fuel surcharge).
Who's your favorite Holland America cruise director?

We loved Dane Butcher on Oosterdam in late March, 2004.:)
He was not only very entertaining, personable & approachable, he was so funny and SO CUTE!:D
I'm pretty sure he's not with HAL anymore; he's probably gone on to starring in movies or some crazy thing.
He was just awesome!
