  1. LOL. Hmm. What does this mean? "Topless sunbathing is not permitted." How should we interpret it? Literally? --no topless sunbathing regardless of gender? Maybe NCL should then start handing out the t-shirts collected from the chair hogs' empty chairs, to all the shirtless guys and get them to cover up. Hmmm, stop being so silly, they are obviously only referring to women exposing their breasts! Well, if that's the case, shouldn't the policy read "Female Topless sunbathing is not permitted"?But then that could be considered sexist and discriminatory, and NCL wants to stay away from that. And what about bottomless sunbathing? If topless sunbathing is not permitted and they make no mention about bottomless sunbathing, then I guess bottomless sunbathing should be allowed.
  2. Hi guys, I'm Ron from Vancouver, Canada here, travelling with my friends Kyle and James from the UK. We're looking forward to progressive trivia on sea days, and the glow party towards the end of the cruise.
  3. And also be aware that there is a 25% tax on all goods purchased while sailing in Brazilian waters. The applies for the entire duration up until departure from the last Brazilian port on your itinerary, no matter how far out you sail from the Brazilian coast, or if it is a sea day. This tax applies to anything you buy in the gift and duty free shops, as well as all drinks on board (even if you have the beverage package, they will have to charge you 25% of the NCL bar menu list value for each drink).
  4. It's the same price that Brazilian citizens need to pay to enter the US!
  5. Just back from a Panama Canal cruise on the Joy. Went to the meet ups everyday, it’s luck if the draw who shows up, we were mostly men. About half were older couples, age 60 plus, who usually came for a drink and then had dinner reservations, the other half of the group (pictured) were solo travellers plus two couples in their 30s. It was a great way to make friends, and no one seemed to show up looking for a ‘hook up’. We formed a trivia team (and won in progressive, second photo), went on some excursions together, had some meals together….and other times did our own things. Everyone was great. Glad I showed up on the first day and introduced myself. Hope you guys enjoy your cruise as much as I did!
  6. Just got back from the Jewel yesterday as a solo Platinum traveller. I had no problem using my dinner-for-two vouchers for myself and a passenger from another cabin in Cagney's and Moderno. I also had the drink package, so I requested my free bottle of wine 'to go', and then drank wine by the glass with my meal and took the bottle back to my cabin and eventually home.
