  1. If you really need them, bring them, but throwing any plastic into the ocean is BS. Maybe you don't feel like your tiny personal habits make a difference, but "if everyone does it" yeah, it does! You say you love cruising? Then make it your responsibilty to do everything to protect the ocean... and use reef safe sunscreen.

  2. My husband and I celebrated our 30th with our first ever cruise in Oct 2019 aboard the Star. Every one aboard spoke English. My husband was on the early road to dementia, so not having to move hotel rooms was the hook for cruising! Also, he couldn't get that lost on a ship;)

Our travel agent recommended getting to Venice at least a day ahead. We got there 2 days early, after a very long flight from CA. Everyone in Venice spoke at least some English and were lovely and engaging. We stayed right on the Grand Canal at the Rialto Bridge. It was magical, albeit, pricey.  In hindsight, I'd do it again without thought. We were glued to the window much of the night, watching the gondolas, police, fire, ambulance boats, water taxies, busses, etc, and all the tourists! Best show ever!

We did a "skip-the-line" walking tour of St. Marks the following day, Highly recommend. - just find one on any travel site.

On Sunday morning, we took a water taxi right to the cruise ship dock. Again, pricey, but saved time and mental energy.

We were lucky to get to Kotor, and just roamed the town on our own.

Food was great on the Star, especially Le Bistro. Loved the whole experience! We did the wine tasting tour on Santorini, and were very happy with that.

We did a great tuk tuk tour "by locals" in Dubrovnik. Amazing! and had never watched Game or Thrones:)

We booked one more night in Venice after the cruise. We stayed at the Olympia(?) as it was close to the taxi area, adjacent to mainland to get to our flight early.  We spent the day on the water buses, going to Murano, where the glass factories, and fabulous museum are located and just hopped on and off in different areas.

    Happy Anniversary!!!
