  1. This is my first time cruising with MSC and I selected an 11:30 check in time. Do they normally let you on the ship shortly after checking in or do you have to wait in the terminal for several hours before they let you board? I’ve sailed numerous other cruise lines and you normally can board right after you check in. However, 11:30 seemed kind of early for a 6pm departure. I’m sailing on the Magnifica out of Miami. I have the base package (Bella).

    Thank you in advance!

The worst part is that multiple people on this voyage called NCL for clarification on "reasonable," and the call center's explanation was "as long as you're changing flights from economy to economy, we'll cover it."

I got a completely different answer. They told me that they would determine how much they would reimburse me after I submitted my receipts after the cruise was done. So they wouldn’t commit any amount to me. It’s amazing how inconsistent they are and how horrible they handled this entire situation

I called NCL, because I had questions about the flight refunds/cancellations/etc, since we booked ourselves.

The phone rep gave me the NCL Customer Service line, which she suggested calling directly: 866-625-1164.

When you call it actually says "fill out the form online and we'll get back to you!" NO ONE ANSWERS THAT PHONE NUMBER
    NOT A JOKE

We need to pin down NCL to make sure they will both cover our flight change from HK to Singapore (as they initially said they would) and then ALSO the cancelation fees for the flights now.

This is absolutely the worst company I have ever interacted with.

Hi, try these email addresses. I’ve gotten direct responses and they seem to be responding.

Continuing my relentless mission to tell everyone about Norwegian Cruise Lines! We have gained some great media attention. Since I know NCL monitors these post. Let me make it clear I wont stop until Norwegian does right by their customers. You can take my money. I will lose the battle but I wont lose the war. I hope your are prepared to fight. All I can loose is my small cruise fare. Your lose will the thousands of customers whos eyes are opened to how you do business. Fight on!

Twitter is definitely getting more active as is media stories. I’ve seen several journalists reaching out on twitter so more stories will be coming out for sure. I sent NCL executives emails this morning notifying them of the stories, social media campaign, and more media exposure. We shall see if they respond...

We're in Miami, where NCL is based, and my wife has been emailing the local tv news stations this morning to see if they're interested in this story.  She pointed out that most major cruise lines have now either cancelled or completely pulled out of Asia, but NCL has done nothing and is still going forward with their cruises even as country after country has refused permission for cruise ships to dock in their countries.

Same. I’ve been emailing and tweeting sun sentinel and herald since Sunday

Oh, and a second question, as the two ports in Vietnam have now been changed to "days at sea" AND the change of embarkation port has been changed as well of course. This together then surely is so far away now from the original itinery that it becomes nothing like what was bought and paid for.

I mean, if I go into McDonalds and ask for a quarter pounder and given chicken nuggets then surely that is a "material change" that could be rejected?

I’m confused as it sounds like Vietnam did the right thing and closed the port forcing the Jade to sail around and have additional days at sea. If that’s the case, why did they tweet just 20 hours ago that they ARE going to Vietnam. Didn’t it get reported that the no Vietnam change was communicated before this tweet? See first screenshot.

Also, my booking is showing the itinerary is on hold.  I’m not sure why it says make a payment as I have no amount due for this cruise.  It will still let you book on ship activities but not shore excursions. See second screenshot.

Time to get more "intel" and get those scouting reports in ... posts & live blogs from other social media sources ??  Going to see what else I can find.  My apology if this is another false alarm and I rather be wrong about it.

Love your updates!  Please keep them coming. As far as intel, I saw this on Twitter. Not sure how true or accurate it is. Several of us have asked Scott for an update, but so far he hasn’t responded
PS, I see a ton of people tweeting about NCL and their actions which is fantastic!

Maybe NCL is playing chicken to get as many voluntary cancellations (forfeit refund/credit) so that they do not have to issue as many refunds should they cancel last minute.

That’s what I’m thinking too. I hope this isn’t the case though because I don’t want them to wait until last minute. Especially for the people who are boarding flights.

Come on Norwegian -- please!  Many of us have spent many thousands of dollars for an enjoyable cruise (2/27 for me), and you have had those dollars for many months.

Please tweet, email NCL, call, contact media, etc. NCL will not do this on their own. Below are some links for media as well as NCL executive email addresses:

Has anyone considered contacting their local news "defenders" reporting team?

I have as I’m pretty sure other people on this board have too. So far nothing. JCopp and atgatsea, thank you for fighting this as well. Maybe between the three of us (and hopefully others on this message board) constantly fighting, something will happen.

I urge everyone, including those on the 2/27 cruise (have they switched the stop in Malaysia yet?) to contact media outlets, file complaints with the BBB (there are a lot for NCL), leave posts on Facebook and YouTube

I’ve done the same but so far the media doesn’t seem to be interested (probably because they are only getting a couple of “tips”.)  I’ve also created Facebook and Twitter accounts so I can post as someone else suggested. YouTube is a good idea.

Like BLcruising said, we need a large group of people to complain on forms other than this one. It’s ridiculous we have to do this, but NCL is forcing us too.

Let's stop hoping Singapore gets worse or going over our insurance policies and go after the company that doesnt want to take care of its customers! Tell the truth, tell everyone who will listen about Norwegian Cruise Lies!

Yes! I also recommend people contact the media. NCL will only change their stance if they are forced to. All news outlets have secure/anonymous tip hotlines. Maybe some media pressure will force NCL to revisit their ridiculous and unsafe position

Personally, I would be happy with NCL's offer in this situation and the revised itinerary, but that is just me.

It’s not as simple as a revised itinerary though. Would you be happy paying extreme airfare changes without NCL guaranteeing they would reimburse you?  Would you be happy with sailing on a ship that has allowed passengers from the hot zones on and possibly contaminating the ship? Keep in mind, it takes 14 days for the virus to present its self, meaning we wouldn’t know about contamination until around 2/20 when we would already be sailing. Would you be happy sailing out of a port that has more confirmed cases than the original port and in NCL’s words isn’t safe to travel to (based on their decision to cancel April sailings)?

As a passenger scheduled on the 2/17 Jade, I appreciate your empathy and it certainly makes me feel better knowing independent people understand where we are coming from. I wish it was as simple of a changed port but unfortunately it’s not. And I feel like that’s a main problem with NCL. They seem to think that changing the embarkation port and implementing less than stellar health screenings is sufficient and don’t realize the downstream effects and risks that still exist.

  14. Could we possible move the insurance discussion/debate to a separate thread?  A lot of upcoming Jade passengers come to this thread for updates regarding the current and upcoming Jade sailings, updates on the Coronavirus in impacted ports, and other information that could impact our sailings. It’s hard to follow the updates when there are several pages on insurance discussions.
