  1. I’ll be on this cruise too! We’ve done this itinerary many times (minus La Paz). I’ve read many of your reviews when your baby was a wee mermaid.

    1. I went to Rhythms of the Night a few years ago on the Panorama. It picked up us right FROM the actual ship. Like you do with a tender boat- except you get on their boat. It headed directly to the island from the ship. It dropped us off there too. It was useful since there was free alcohol.

    2. Yes. They have plastic chairs. I suppose they have the potential to be rickety like all plastic chairs. I’ve never seen anyone fall. I’ve been to the island 3 times and I’ve never seen an accident.  Yes, it could happen, but anything can happen on a moving boat.

    3. RotN is dinner and a show. My kiddo loves theater and music and all things related to performance and having a good time. The boat ride over is loud music, drinks, and great views. The island is dinner buffet style and then a short walk to the theater. The ride back in the boat is another show put on by the crew and lots of dancing. Even my shy kid was in the dance area doing the Cupid Shuffle. Do your teens like all the kinds of activities by the pool? Do they like watching acrobatic shows? If no, this might not be their jam.

    4. The food is fine. Not memorable or super amazing. But you’ll likely find a few things you like and you can fill up on that. There’s lots of choices and my ADHD kid who I feel only eats 5 things always finds something.

    5. The outdoor theater does not have chairs. If you have back problems, then, yes this can be uncomfortable. I’ve never thought of this before but yes it’s true. The show is truly spectacular and captivating. Check out YouTube- lots of people’s videos have a glimpse at the actual theater—and the boat.

Honestly, having read about how adventurous your family is in the past— you might NOT enjoy this unless you go in with the idea that this a relaxing, fun, silly time. I love it and am sad not to do it this cruise, but I do recommend it. However, you know your family best.

We pulled over at the beach at 10:20am and the guide explained that we had the option to exit the bus here to go to the beach, or we could stay on until the next stop downtown.  She said the buses would come every 20 minutes, but that if you wanted to go to the beach, you should get off now because after leaving downtown, the bus would return back to the ship and not stop at the beach again.  Nearly everyone got off the bus here.  I tried to get a sneak peek at the beach, but I couldn’t really see much from the bus.

I know you said you couldn't see much--but did you hear of or notice on the way back if there were any amenities at the beach? Stores? Restaurants? Do you know the beach's name?

  3. I’m traveling with family on the Miracle in July and we have a suite (max capacity 2, oddly) and an interior (max 3). I know Carnival doesn’t care where you sleep, but do you think the room steward would make up a couch into a bed in a 2 max capacity suite? My kiddo is technically sleeping in grandma’s room, but he’d prefer to sleep with us parents. So I guess I’m wondering if sleeping 3 in room designated for 2 (the suite) is a big deal.

Cruising north on the last sea day on a Mexican Riviera cruise can be VERY WINDY (and bumpy) and pretty cold as well. Especially this time of year. FYI: good chance the Lido Deck & above will be closed for the last evening. Buffet will be open, but the deck areas stand a good chance of being closed.

I guess it is just luck of the draw. I’ve done Mexican Rivera cruises 3 times now and always had it last sea day followed by towel animal demonstration later in the day. I’ll have to keep an eye out either way in a few weeks. My 6 year old loves it.

  5. We reported smoking on a balcony 2 rooms over. We saw security at their door a few days later and eventually we were comped our steakhouse dinner and all our pics (over $150 worth) as compensation. I don’t really care about vaping, but these people were smoking weed and flicking the ash over the railing.

We only reported it the once, even though it happened several times. The front desk kept calling and leaving us notes that they would take care of it. This was on the Splendor.

  6. They are like regular beach towels- the long ones. They aren’t as thick as the ones they give you to use on board, but work fine. My kid likes it enough to want to use it everyday at home after bath.

The quality is about the same as any mass produced towel. I have a free towel I got from my alumni association and it’s about the same quality.

  7. Hi all!

I started a brief review of my December 17-23 cruise on the Miracle. Below I discuss Long Beach and the MDR and Suite on the Miracle. I hope to get to a review of activities and the ports early next week. I traveled with my DH and 4 year old. DH and I had done this itinerary a few times (once with Carnival, once with RC), but it was our first time with our son. We live 30 minutes from port, so the price really couldn't be beat. We stayed in a suite. So here it goes...

Embarkation: The Miracle had just come back from Hawaii and when I arrived around 11, the staff had no estimate about boarding. We sat a loooong time and around 12:30 priority boarding started. From what I have read here, this is pretty atypical. Me and my 4 year old walked around, got a snack from the food truck, and basically just watched the water for an hour before just hanging out in the rather crowded captains lounge

Debarkation: Had last meal in the MDR and leisurely ate. I had priority 2 because I was in a suite (after the carry off passengers) which was 9:30am. I was picking up my luggage by 9:45am. Arrival to port was “9am” but debarking started earlier than that.

MDR service: The dinner service was amazing. My newly turned four year old loved going (he likes land restaurants too) and enjoyed being doted on. He just assumed our head waiter owned the place and always wanted to go to Noel’s restaurant. Even at brunch, Noel seemed to look for us to say hi. Brunch service was a little slower, but fine.

MDR food: Brunch was good. Always found something I liked and had way too many steak and eggs meals :)

Dinner food was fine. Just like wedding food is fine. When you are serving that many people, I assume you are getting basic food. There was a lot I liked, but most I thought was ok. I only disliked one dish, but had plenty of appetizers and didn’t leave hungry. Husband loves Indian food and ordered that option nearly every meal. He said it was excellent.

Vibration: Wow. At the steak house it was like eating on a magic fingers bed. DH asked server if there were any tables with less vibration and the server laughed and shook her head. The MDR the vibration was very prevalent. I found it easier to ignore in the MDR, but the steak house experience (food wise was good) was memorable for its constant shake.

    Suite stuff

Tub: Jets worked great. I recommend running them before you get in. There was a little scum residue on the first use.

Balcony: Loved it. Definitely some wear and tear on the seats, floor and railing. But nothing too terrible. Long balcony with 4 chairs (2 reclined, 2 standard) and a table. Love love love. I think I might have had an extra chair. Other pics I saw only had 3.

Plugs: 6168 suite didn’t have a standard plug at the desk- just a round European outlet. However the two desk lamps each had 2 USB ports. There was also a US plug (and a square European plug) in the powder room. You could have also unplugged TV and used that outlet too.

Fridge: leaving the cabinet door open did help cool it, but I had morning cleaning so the fridge spent most of the day behind a closed cabinet.

Laundry: Did one free bag that came with suite perks. Whoa. Not worth it. The smell of whatever detergent they use was just awful. I don’t consider myself to be sensitive to smells, but man, I really could not stand the scent of the laundry. I rewashed everything when I got home. Yuck.

Temperature in the room: Variable. I couldn’t figure out the +/- dial. Was + for heat? Or + for more air? No idea. Didn’t seem to matter. Whatever the dial was set at, sometimes it was warm and sometimes it was ice cold. Wasn’t that bothersome. At least not enough to complain. Mostly noticed it at night.

  8. avoid aft cabins - this ship vibrates like no other! We had the aft wrap last July and it was so bad, made it hard to sleep and the glassware at the bar area was clinking so much, we just had it all removed. The dining room had tables with vibrating glassware too. I don't think I would book Miracle again.

Seconding on the vibration. Wow. At the steak house it was like eating on a magic fingers bed. Even in the MDR the vibration was very prevalent. I found it easier to ignore in the MDR, but the steak house experience (food wise was good) was memorable for its constant shake.

With that said, I loved my Miracle cruise.
