learned their lesson?...They know less now than 3 weeks ago. We were getting off the Emerald to fly back to the States on May 9. Most got a written negative test result delivered to the cabin the night before debarkation. I say most as about 100 did not and had to storm the castle walls the next morning. Then an amazing thing happened....our neighbors (wife in isolation for Covid....he not testing as they would be staying in London under quaranteen) called and said he just got delivered a negative test for himself AND wife. Interesting as neither had taken a test. He called and was told that there was a "glitch"....EVERYONE flying to the States had recieved a negative test result, no matter if they had covid or not! We took our negative results and ran the hell off that ship. 48 Princess cruises and 6th cruise on the Emerald....and we will never ever set foot on the ship again. I am certain if the Coast Guard inspected that ship it would be pulled from service.....non working life boats...no leadership..I will never trust it.

Wow, I am glad they changed our cruise to Alaska last August, from the Emerald to the Majestic 😕

The Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel is not located beside the cruise terminals, but beside a ferry terminal.

This googlemaps photo shows location of the Hotel and I have put a wobbly X on the area where the cruise ships dock.164210458_Screenshot2022-03-31193338.jpg.af2675da0c4bddb5569d4a9f4a98607d.jpg

Thank you, but I am confused why the shipping lanes show right next to the pier of Eurostars Grand Marina.  I guess I will find out when we are there in October.  Either way it is a beautiful place and look forward to visiting.

Appears to be a fabulous location Stacy.  I had no idea there was/is a hotel that close to the cruise ship piers. I expect it is popular weith cruise pax and best booked ahead.😀

We also used the HOHO bus on our 7 day land stay.  The two day one. Took both routes on our day #1 just to get an idea of the layout of the city and to help decide which stops we wanted to get off at on day #2.

The city attractions are more spaced out than one might expect and the bus was initially useful although after that we mostly used metros and walking.

Last time was a one day cruise call and for the first time we walked alongside the sea to Barcelonetta, explored, then walked the promenade alongside fabulous beaches as far as a huge marina where we turned around and headed back, last stop being the fabulous parc de la Ciutad (sp!)

Oh my gosh, I thought I was on my Roll call for our cruise.  I am so embarrassed!  We are going in October of this year.  I hope the weather will be nice.

Thank you so much for the information, we fly in from London the 14th, although it is early in the day, it won't give us as much time as I would like to explore Barcelona.   We are choosing a later boarding time so we can absorb as much of it as possible.  Are you cruising on this sailing as well?

I believe we are going to do the HOHO bus

.Is this new  or is the poster confusing the little port shuttle bus with an actual HOHO bus?

I don't understand this either. We are staying on the pier right next to the cruise dock There are several piers and terminal buildings  but I don't recall any hotel there. Is this new? If so it will be really popular with cruise pax.

    🙂

I am referencing the Hop on Hop off bus.  The hotel we are staying at is:

In April, I'm doing a Med cruise that leaves from Barcelona.  Having never been there before, I would like to arrive 1-2 days early to explore before I cruise.

I guess I am looking for a hotel that:

    1) Is in a great location for first-time tourists (walking distance to/from most attractions)

    2) Free (or inexpensive) transport from the airport

    3) Free (or inexpensive) transport to the cruise pier on the day of the cruise

I'm sure those who sail frequently from Barcelona have their favorite hotels and connections.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Cruise Bunny

We are staying on the pier right next to the cruise dock.  I believe we are going to do the HOHO bus. It isn't the cheapest, but easy for traveling with our cruise luggage.

  7. Good Evening -

My husband and I are cruising from Barcelona to Rome in October.  We are staying a night in London and a night in Barcelona before our cruise leaves.  We leave the US on the 12th and our Cruise leaves on the 15th.  I am wondering if we should try and get a test done in London or wait until we get to Barcelona.  If we test positive, I don't know what the quarantine process is for London, or Barcelona.  Can anyone share any information they may have?

    Thanks!
    Tracy

I hope that by then these concerns will be in the past for you. I know we have a little concern over our cruise in 5 weeks. We will do the same precautions as normal (take Airborne & pro-biotics, bring medical-grade peroxide wipes, wash hands often), but we also plan on bringing extra medications and are still thinking things through.

Looking forward to your review from your Mediterranean cruise!

Thank you!  I’m jealous your off to the carribean again!  How did your in-laws enjoy their first cruise?

"No" to considering a change of plans.  Assuming you're thinking of virus concerns, we just plan to keep an eye on things & hope they have it isolated and under control by then.  Write a review of your September cruise to give us a preview!

Thank you for your quick reply - that is our plan too, just thought I would see how other ‘cruiser’s’ are feeling.  I will write a review - I am so looking forward to the ship and the Mediterranean.
I hope you enjoy your cruise as well!

This review and your excellent photos have both been outstanding.  I have a cruise in a few months on the new Enchanted Princess , so I've been following your report with the idea that some of the venues on Enchanted will be similar to those on the Sky.  Thanks again for putting in all the time & effort.

On a side note - we are booked on the enchanted in September - are you considering a change of plans?  I have been looking forward to this cruise - I hope they get everything cleared up by then.
