Two 50 year olds cruising together? Got to be either Celebrity or Virgin Voyages surely?

Two many little creatures on the all the others.

I would have loved to sail Virgin! Unfortunately by the time I discovered Virgin, there was only one longer cruise available in April. It leaves just a few days earlier than we really want to.

We ended up sticking with Princess. Any day cruising is better than... right?

  2. Hello! I haven't cruised in a long time. Used to cruise every year but it's been 9 years now. I'm going with a girlfriend to celebrate our 50th birthdays. I have booked Princess but I'm rethinking it. It's just not sounding too exciting to me. I've never sailed Princess but have sailed Carnival, Norw, Royal, Celebrity. I'm restricted to book for April (2024) and I'm looking at Carnival and Royal as options...Celebrity got too expensive when the inaugural sailings were canceled on their other ship).

She has never cruised before. We like to have cocktails. Not the life of the party but like to have excitement around us. Carnival I think I can afford a suite on some of the trips too.  Am I right in thinking I should cancel Princess and step back on to Carnival or Royal? Obviously I have my port consideration playing into it but I really want to pick the right cruise line first. Any opinions welcome...and would love to know your "why"

    Thanks!

  3. Thank you all for the responses.

A few more questions...Our flight was just changed and it now leaves LAX at 11:40 am on Labor Day. Should I be concerned about making it? The next flight isn't until 3:50pm! What's the latest you can get off the ship (should I decide to move to the later flight)?

  4. Thank you all for your tips.

I called celebrity and I let them know my intent. They called another department, confirmed that it would be ok, and let me know to remind guest services once I board. After the ship clears customs in Istanbul, they will call us and we can disembark.

  5. Hi,

We have an overnight in port in Istanbul in September on the Equinox. I'm curious to know if we will be able to disembark the first day we arrive in port? We'd like to be to head to a hotel to begin our stay early and not have to return to the ship. If it has to be arranged ahead of time, does someone have an email contact?

    Thank you.

  7. Sloop-JohnB:

You said except for Aqua class in regards to the seating times. What seating times do people staying in Aqua class cabins get assigned to for the MDR? Is it only select? We just booked an Aqua for next year and I didn't see anything about this. Thanks!

  8. It looks like Sapphire Beach isn't what it used to be. It was only ok when I was there last. Pretty yes, but there isn't anything there.

What about Magen's bay? It's pretty and has great facilities. Less of a trek than Trunk Bay.

Trunk Bay is beautiful and will be fun for your family.

  9. We spent the day at Soggy Dollar. $100 covered drinks, breakfast and a snack for 2. Another $50 for souvenirs. We were there for about 4 hours. Painkillers are awesome. We pulled some Adirondack chairs down to the water's edge and wasted the day away.

They did take credit cards but they double charged us and I had to sort it out when we got back. They were quick to reverse it with bank transaction number.

My favorite place/day of all my travels.

  10. Good morning, I've been reading this thread as my first trip on AOS is in two weeks!! We've booked the Caribbean Sail to Christmas & Honeymoon Coves

thru the ship. Has anyone done it? I'm wondering how crowded the two locations are, what boat/company the contract with to take us, did you enjoy it?

I posted on the port board but didn't get any replies. From a search I found one person on the old AOS thread who recommends it. Has anyone done it in the last year? Just looking for a little input.

    Thank you.

  11. Can anyone tell me about the distance between these two? And proximity to the cruise dock?

I would like to spend some time at S. Friars but also visit Romney house. Thinking morning and early afternoon at the beach and then taxi to Romney house but I have no idea of travel time/distance.

    Thank you.
