These sailings have no chance of happening given the mess the usa is in

Its bonkers. I give it less than a month before their boats are riddled with cases.

Lol North America isnt going to be cruising for at least 12 months you are reporting 60,000 new cases per day, that is completely insane.

You would literally have to pay me to be a cruise passenger on any cruise in 2020. The risk is waaaaaaay to high. 

Look at the absolute state of the USA at the moment.

As i suspected this is the beginning of the end for crusing.

If you follow Ben and Dave on youtube you will see some of the draconian measures being put in place that effectively render this holiday past time as a thing confined to the history books.

Am i mad for holding on to the 125% cruise credit?

I am thinking by next May (when we want to sail) there will be a level of normality........or is that just wishful thinking?

Why anyone is booking a cruise right now, especially with an organisation with holding refunds for up to 2 years is either stupid or has money to burn.

How and why cruises are still operating when over a quarter of the worlds population (billions of people) are in some form of enforced quarantine is mental.

Cruising is done. Even if this virus is reigned in any time in the next few years the economy will be decimated.

In princess case hopefully somewhere with cleaning products.

By April/May the UK will be absolute carnage.

Being in the UK i am happy to take the FCC for my cruise coming up in May, as i do actually want to go on a cruise (first time), i dont want a refund.

This virus is everywhere and has been for weeks.

Anyone going on a cruise in the next 6 months is off their head.

MSC Cruises in the UK and Ireland need to ensure the Cruise Assurance programme is aligned with our terms and conditions as the USA have their own terms and conditions.

How suspicious is it that msc in the USA announce this less than 24 hours after the state department advise against their citizens cruising.....hmmmmmmmmm

Diabolical they have not followed suit with the USA.

Absolutely appalling and in some cases not true.

At this point we can confirm there have been no cases of coronavirus on board any of our ships

.........except for the guy who got off in Genoa.

Waiting with baited breath for the update from MSC today on cancellations. Should make interesting reading.

Same thing and a reason why western society is struggling to and will not contain this.

BTW there has been one German death.

Whats happening on the Princess ships will be happening on most cruise liners in the coming weeks.

Lets be honest here the Greek government probably wanted rid. If some one has been aboard that ship and been contagious then a lot more passengers will have it.

Western ideals prevent the logical approach of quarantine (forced and un-forced) like observed in China and its no surprise to see cases absolutely sky rocket in Europe and America. 

What does make me laugh is countries like Russia saying they only have 3 confirmed cases..........righto Mr Putin.

To be fair folks in 6-8 weeks time most of the planet will have this thing so i very much doubt cruises from April onward will even take place until a level of normality returns to society. Even if they do continue, those to ill to travel will be able to claim illness on their insurance policy as a reason for cancellation before they even get to the point of going on a cruise.

I got this email from their UK operations team this morning regarding the denial of boarding (names removed):

Dear Mr XXX,

Thank you for your email.

Please accept our apologies for the delay in replying to you.

MSC Cruises will screen you at embarkation and should you present with a temperature or flu like symptoms, you will be denied boarding.

We will have our medical staff come down and assess you to which you will then be handed over to port authorities. The port authorities will assist you to a hospital and contacting your insurers to assist you getting home should you not have a fly and cruise package booked with MSC Cruises.

Should you develop any symptoms before your cruise, you must inform your insurers immediately.

We understand your concerns and can ensure you that we have our guests and crew health and safety as our top priority.
