  1. A couple things we learned from this forum and it made YC great.

    1. We asked our butler, Glenn on seaside at the time - awesome guy, for random cocktails each afternoon. He asked our tastes and every day at 4pm 2 drinks and snacks were in our room for us to e joy when we came back to get ready for the evening.

    2. We asked Glenn for a pizza to be delivered at 1am. Nothing like having a night of drinking and dancing and having a fresh pie show up when you get back.

Glenn also was able to get me reservations for the steakhouse for the time we wanted when concierge said it was full.

We are hooked. I hope you enjoy it.

  2. We did this cruise a few months ago. It was in Yacht Club and I probably will always cruise that way now. That being said, this cruise was great. I'm not sure if it's the cruise director but every night they had a "hype squad" to get everyone dancing . One Night was at the pool, another in the atrium area. We danced every night late. I've never done that on the other lines. We had quality craft drinks at the bar by the specialty restaurants every night. By far best drinks on any cruise. The buffet didn't look that great but the salad station makes great subs. Also their island is the best. Yet another parry on the beach with the "hype squad"

  3. Enjoy. Was on this ship a month ago. The specialty restaurant bar has the best cocktails on the ship. The bread station in the main buffet will make great sandwiches. Ask your butler to schedule for a pizza delivered when you get back one night. Nothing like a fresh pie when you get back to your room after partying. Previous post mentioned shade at the pool. Depending on capacity your butler may be able to reserve you a cabana for free.

  4. No. We are inYacht club and they had someone at a table to sell the packages. We  requested a window table for 2 and he said he would try but we needed an early reservation. I later went to our butler, Glen, and asked he said no problem for the later time we wanted. We arrived to dinner and sure enough our table by the window was waiting. I'll probably do a summary post cruise but so far this is the best experience on any ship.

  5. I'm onboard now. Tell me what you want to know. We ate butcher cut tonight and it was great. I elected to not do there duo package. We went al a carte since we didn't want any of the other restaurants.  The tomahawk ribeye for two was great. Aged ribeye and no brine. From what I can tell the packages have a different menu than al a carte. For instance, the tomahawk is not included.

I've booked two Yacht Club innercabins on the MSC Bellissima on January 14th. The booking were done directly at the MSC site. Later one of the inner cabin were upgraded to the YC Suite for free and other cabin not. Two weeks ago I mentioned MSC about the differences in the cabins and the next day both cabins were upgraded to YC suites with balcony. No upgrade offerings but just a pleasant surprise.

Was your inside rooms the "physically challenged" rooms?

  7. Yes we have FCC from 2 previously cancelled cruises. We filled out the form that was released a while back to get original money refunded. I don't remember the name but it was the one where they will tell you in 30 days if you are approved for full refund. They then have 90 days to refund money.

That’s us out as we have a 2 year old on a cruise at the end of November. Just another nail in the coffin in respect of our experiences with NCL over the last few years. Will be spending our cash with P&O or Cunard from now on.

Just submitted the form, they say 90 days to get your cash back. They've  had 4k  for 2 years, what's another 3 months lol. But honestly, what takes 90 days to do anymore?

Agreed.  The efficacy of these vaccines is pretty extraordinary.  Although I doubt the vaccine hesitancy in this group is about efficacy and is more about unknown long term side effects.  I'm still looking for that article that expressed some hesitation on when/if due to the FDA requirement of significantly more post vaccine follow up data and the myocarditis issues.

There is a group that is never talked about that has already had Covid and see no need to take a vaccine that may have unknown effects. My family is going on 8 months now walking around with antibodies. I was recently tested and showed IGG (what helps with symptoms if you get it) and IGA (what blocks the virus from imbedding in your throat area). the vaccines help with IGG but not IGA,  that's why the vaccinated can get it and spread it. The cruise lines should be asking for a present antibodies test and not vaccination status.

  10. I was thinking of starting a new thread on this thought but there are enough Covid ones already so I will say it here.

Why doesn't NCL ask for an antibodies test if you elect to not show vaccination a week or 2 before sail date?

I just had my blood work from my annual checkup. My family of 4 all had Covid in December. Both IGG/IGM test positive. Quest explains this has a recent exposure. We are not vaccinated. My daughter has also had the blood work during her visit last month. Antibodies positive. Out of my close friends group 2 have received the vaccine and 3 have had Covid in the past and are not vaccinated. none have had both.

We have also seen recently, for example the Texas politicians that flew to DC, that the vaccinated can contact Covid and spread it. The vaccine is for the individuals protection so they do not get extremely sick, it does not stop one from getting it. demanding 100% vaccination can still infect the ship.

This brings me to the 95/100%

Experts are saying herd immunity needs to be 70%-90%. If that's the case, why do the cruise lines need 95-100?

Why not make a mix of vaccinated and those with positive antibodies test count for this percentage. Allow a small percentage of those that have neither cruise. If they test positive during the cruise, treat it like Noro and quarantine to their cabin.

  11. My family all got Covid in December. My daughter was recently tested for antibodies and they are still present. We choose not to get the Covid vaccine because we have already caught it. The millions that have caught and beaten the virus naturally need to be counted towards this "magical herd immunity"

As far as unvaccinated on cruises have you flown recently? Just spent 3 hours on a plane. You are required to wear a mask for your safety but if you eat a snack the entire flight you are somehow magically protected from Covid.
