This is something that only Carnival will know if/when they cancel.

That's a lot of money to put in "the Carnival bank" when nobody knows what's gonna happen.

    When is your cruise?

May 2021 I’m not worried . I have 3rd party insurance that also covers financial default . But I seriously doubt carnival is going bankrupt

I don't know what they will do as a fact.  When my "Cruise #2" was canceled, I didn't take the refund.  My FCC (deposit) was only $100...and the OBC was $600.  So I had a lot to gain and a little to lose.

IF (really hoping) cruise #3 (Sept 2021) ends up canceled....I'll ask for the cash back and see what happens.

On my last cancelled cruise , they converted the would be penalty of $1800 into the fcc and transferred the remaining funds to the new booking . Just wondering if they cancel again and I have the option of a 100 % refund , if that amount would also be included ??

Jimbo, we've been following this since this morning. If my thinking is correct, the Breeze is covering through May 24--IF the Radiance is complete at that time, then she would sail into Port Canaveral on May 2. I mention this since we are booked on the Radiance May 2-14 when she makes her cruise to Galveston---her "new" port. The way I figure, we would be (quite by accident)  on her "inaugural cruise".

I sail her May 28. Cutting it awful close for us . I read the article about looking for a shipyard and asked John Heald , he said the work will remain in Spain . Then I saw an article from Spain that the union wanted Carnival to remove the Victory from the dock as they are concerned about carnival filing bankruptcy and the ship not being able to move and deterring other contracts for the shipyard . So maybe they will move her to another dock in Spain or a new shipyard all together???

I took the FCC/OBC and booked a Sept 2021 date out of NYC.  My final payment is 3 days after the first sailing out of NYC.

If this one gets canceled...I'll take the refund.

I’m curious . I took the fcc / obc offer on my first cancelled sailing . If my 2nd is also cancelled , is Carnival offering a full refund including the fcc portion of the paid fare from prior cancellation?

Any speculation on why they might be selling the recently rebuilt Sunrise? They invested all that money modernizing it, it seems odd that ship would be one to go.

Unless they are hoping to get a good price for it and raise some revenue, which is why they are selling a recently rebuilt, and thus presumably more desirable, ship? Because it might sell for more? That's all I can think of.

I had an amazing deal with RC for Symphony Thanksgiving week so I took it, I am now double booked for Radiance & Symphony. If Radiance is ready I will have a big decision as Symphony is 1/3 the price of Radiance cruise. I decided to double book because I really an not confident Radiance will be done in time and another announcement is coming soon.

Smart .. November is cutting it close for Radiance. I really don’t think they will cruise in August and better to not have a ship in dry dock when they do .

My interpretation was work had not restarted yet. There really is no point in starting work before cruising begins again. Only a few weeks are needed. There will still be time to finish.

My interpretation from an article in Spain was that the ship arrived the day before the shipyard was shut down . There were contractors onboard when she arrived and Carnival had to repatriate those workers . It appears those contractors will have to be brought back to continue the work as the shipyard is not equipped to handle the refurbishment alone . Time will tell , hoping they can get everyone back to complete her by her scheduled sailings in November

Where did you hear that the Victory had actually made it into the drydock?  Now that would be great news.  I read something and it had a photo of a ship entering drydock BUT then I read where the Victory was still tied up at the pier. Thanks.  Don

Victory is not in dry dock and still moored at the pier . Allure of the seas is in dry dock . Google carnival victory location and you can follow her in real time

Thanks! Today I actually took the time to figure out how to see the posts on his page from people and I saw that. I hope we hear some type of news soon!

You may already know this , but if you go to Facebook and type Radiance John Heald in the search bar  .. it will only pull up posts that have something to do with Radiance. He gets lots of other questions every day , it saves time

I agree! If I was 100% certain I would do a booking on another ship for the same date but I know if I do that the Radiance will miraculously sail 🤣

Watch John Healds Facebook page . He has lots of questions regarding Radiance . His latest response today. “ I’m hoping to have an update in the next few days “  we will see

It was actually in dry dock in march. According to marinetraffic, it looks like  they moved the victory to the other pier so that another ship can be dry dock space

it appears the pier the victory is now is a regular cargo terminal. most likely when the work on other ship is finished, the victory will go back to the drydock space

According to the Spanish papers , which I can’t verify . The alarm had already begun when Victory arrived with 3500 crew and contractors aboard . They did not enter dry dock as the next day the shipyard was closed . However , the contractors onboard demo’d the ship in the way over . It sounds plausible . They actually had to pull a few strings to enter Spain at that time and all onboard tested and could not leave the ship . Pretty sure it was a big mess .

200 million - and I think all there is right now is rumor on its progress and what it will ultimately look like.

This may be the only verified fact that is known.

The ship never made it into dry dock , moored in Spain waiting on Carnival . You can verify by googling Carnival victory location in real time

I am booked for Feb - remember the Radiance is adding rooms so a switchout would probably not work and they don't have a spare ship so it would cancel but I think they will continue

Hopefully so. I do understand them at least waiting to see if they are able to sail in August as planned . After that they need  to let us know what their intentions are

Agreed. It wouldn't make sense for them to spend a lot of money to go backwards. I think the only thing that would stop them from proceeding with the Radiance completion is the state of their financials once the shutdown ends. Someone had said that they would've already paid for the refurbishment up front. I have no idea how it works in the ship building industry, but that doesn't make much sense to me. I'm not going to pay a contractor in full up front before they start building my house. I wouldn't think a cruise line would do it either, but that's just an assumption. If they did pay already, then obviously work will continue at some point. If I had to guess, regardless of how the payment was handled, I'd say they're going to finish it.

If they had to, like ProgRockCruiser said, it's probably covered in the contract. I'm not sure if Carnival would be obligated to offer any type of compensation if a booking is changed to a different ship, but they would probably offer something, like maybe OBC or the option to cancel without penalty. Like I said before, people are paying to book the Radiance and that's what they're expecting, so I would understand if they got something different and were upset. Since they're still taking bookings for Radiance, I'm choosing to believe they have every intention to complete it. I don't think they're trying to pull a fast one by continuing to take the bookings.

I read an article concerning payments about Allure of the seas  (RC) Custom items were prepaid and now in storage as they have downsized the refurbishment on that ship . I believe the labor is not paid until complete . She is in dry dock in Spain now only getting maintenance upgrades . But she was not demoed as the Victory

  15. 9 hours ago, Organized Chaos said:

IF it was capable to continue sailing as the Victory, I would think they'd have to compensate Radiance bookings somehow because people are paying to sail on the Radiance, not the Victory. But I don't think that will be possible because a lot of people have said they started tearing parts of the ship apart while it was in route from the U.S. to the shipyard. If that's true, then it looks like they're committed to the refurbishment.

Is it possible they sub a different ship ?

Future cruise credit is just that. A credit. No cash value to you. If you use it to book a cruise you will owe the Port and Tax. If your FCC has an overage they will keep it as FCC towards your next cruise. If you do not use it. it wioll expire and you are out. So we booked a cruise that ended up $14.00 more then the FCC. Our cost. Tax & Port plus $14.00 Not bad. The cancelled and we took the full refund and the FCC for the basic cost of the cruise. So this 7 day for 2021 is costing us $295.00 cannot beat that.

Ok thanks . My first cruise was cancelled , so instead of the refund . I applied the penalty portion to a future cruise ( fcc) . My concern now , since booked on Radiance, if that cruise gets cancelled . Would I possibly then be eligible for a refund or would that portion have to be yet again transferred to another cruise . I assume it would depend on carnivals options made available. I do realize the obc would be lost .

If you cancel only your deposit becomes at risk depending on the rate you booked. Some deposits are are refundable. Did you add some cash to the booking?

You can always cancel before final payment and at worst get the deposit kept and fcc refunded.

Chances are slim your cruise next year would be completely cancelled, so I wouldnt count on that. More than likely a different ship will be substituted and if so getting a complete refund might be a option. Or they might offer you obc incentive to cruise on a different sailing.

Only your deposit amt is at risk if you cancelled (before final payment) and rebooked for instance early saver where the deposit is not refundable. Cancel terms are readily readable in FAQ.

Thanks . I thought I read somewhere that the fcc had no cash value and non refundable.

  18. I was booked on a June cruise that was cancelled. Have every intention of rebooking so took the FCC. Booked on Radiance for next summer and the work on her seems ify  . If carnival cancels her sailings , would the fcc portion of my fare become refundable ? I realize if I cancel the answer is probably not  . I have insurance through a 3rd party but highly doubt that fcc amount would be included in any claim consideration.

OP, you subject line is deceiving.  It looks like a statement, whereas you seem to have been trying to ask a question.

AFAIK, there has been nothing official released or stated by Carnival, therefore anything else you read is probably old, speculation, or just clickbait.

I am booked to sail on her in December, so I, too, would like confirmation of the upgrades and maintenance going ahead as planned, but I'm sure nothing much will be said until June, at the earliest - the shipyards/dry docks/whatever have to restart work, and as far I as I can tell, that may be just starting up.

There are several articles coming from Spain regarding the Radiance and all recently dated . Carnival has made no announcements . I don’t think it has been cancelled but postponed until they make a decision if it is feasible financially to proceed with the refurbishment. Right now I get that, as they are not certain when they can sail again but the shipyard is open as Royals Allure of the seas arrived today for their refurbishment. ( which has been greatly reduced to only include maintenance upgrades)  . So we hang in limbo until Carnival makes a decision to proceed or not . I’m discouraged as well as I enjoy planning my cruise and can’t at this point . I located all the articles by googling

Cadiz carnival victory and selecting the news tab and then pasting in google translate . Even though the articles are not verified , I feel Spain knows what is going on with the ship in their country .

Thanks, but I read, and re-read that article posted earlier today, I don't see any mention of the Radiance. What am I missing?

This article does mirror several articles I’ve seen posted from Spain concerning the Radiance. Carnival has not yet decided to continue the refurbishment according to Spain .

Has anybody gotten funshop refunds yet? I received refunds for cruise fare and excursions but not funshop purchases.

I received fun shop refunds yesterday. Cancelled on 4/14 but still waiting on excursion refunds . All cancelled on the same day so not sure why only some have posted . Unless different departments handle excursions vs fun shop purchases
