  1. From Cunard web site:

    QM2 and QV

Yes, gentlemen can rent tuxedos, including shirts, pants and dinner jackets, on board from the shops

Tuxedo packages range from $90 for one night up to $250 for 5 nights

We do not currently offer a rental service for ladies formal wear on board, however a range of women’s evening wear is available to purchase from our on board shops.

  2. Indeed, unless there is a 2nd ship boarding that day, you will most likely be at the "new" terminal located at Pier 30.

From YQB there is flat rate to downtown:

From the YQB terminal to downtown Québec City or From downtown Québec City to YQB (Trip A)

    DAY PRICE: $41.40

    NIGHT PRICE (between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.): $47.60

During the day and night, a fee of $0.90 + GST and QST is added to the base fare for each trip, including special fares set by the Commission des transports du Québec. It is also added to fares established by a contract agreed upon between two parties and to fares requested by a mobile application. This amount is used to fund a program to compensate and assist individuals or groups who were licensed as cab owners.

  3. There will definitely be festivities including fireworks. I believe last year the fireworks were postponed due to the high risk of wildfires at that time. Also take into consideration that several businesses may be closed, this day being a public holiday. I recommend this website which is currently in winter mode, but information for the summer season should be available shortly.

  4. And last week-end the Summit was parked at wharf 93. Personnaly that was the fist time a saw a cruise ship there. The Star Pride will also be there next week-end. It's located just after the ferry and it's where the Coast Guard is located. It's a very good location, much better than 102 or 103.

  5. The spot allocation is not maily base on the size of the ship. For exemple last week, the NCL Joy was at Wharf 22 and this week the Wharf 30 was occupied buy a Viking. The Wharf 30 is where de new cruise terminial is located. So most of the ship doiing debarkation/embarkation acivities will be located there. Of course that's not and absolute rule, notably when there is 3, 4, 5 ships in town at the same time.

For the OP whenever there's a ship at Wharf 30, i see shuttles and HoHo buses in the area. And as princeton123211 pointed out there a lot to see in a walkable distance.

    Welcome to Québec !

Yes it does but make sure to check to confirm where you are docking-- smaller and medium sized ships will get the prime spot at Wharf 22 (which is the one you see in all the promotional pictures) and larger ships will be sent to Wharf 30 which is on the other side of the basin. One time on QE2 we were docked at Wharf 103 which was wayyyy down and had to be bussed into town. I would assume Summit would have 22 unless there was another ship that day that bumped her.

Depending on how much you want to see a HOHO bus tour really isn't necessary in Quebec City-- its relatively compact and very walkable. Even to get up the steep hill to the Chateau Frontenac you have the Funicular. A lot of the main tourist area is pedestrian only.

If you have a full day and want to cover a lot of ground quickly, mainly to cover the Citadel and Plains of Abraham, then it could be useful. But if you have a shorter port stay and just want to see the main sights in town it's not only unnecessary but actually a hindrance.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday! Today is our 35th wedding anniversary.🥰  We were married on a beautiful, hot July day in Montreal at McGill University's chapel (my alma mater), with a great party after. Last night we went out for dinner to a new Indian restaurant (forgot to take pictures) but the food was so good. We had beef vindaloo, butter chicken, lamb korma and rice and naan. Leftovers for lunch. 😋

    Félicitations from Québec city!!

  9. This Tourist info center is located in upper town, so it's not and easy walk uphill. But you can use de funicular from lower town near de port if you are dock at berth 21 or 22. The funicular will bring you almost at the door of the tourist center. The price is 5$ pp. and cash only. You may have to walk on some uneven pavement and cobblestone streets to get to the funicular.

When the guy who picked up the lunch got back two thirds of my order was missing... I was supposed to have ten wings, seasoned fries, and celery and carrot sticks with blue cheese... What I DID end up with was ten wings and blue cheese. Honestly, I don't even care at this point, I just want this work day to be over with and done...

Not bad, You could have ended up with only the celery and carrot sticks 😄

  12. The Nouvelle France Festival could be a fun bonus.
Yes, everything is mainly in French but you will appreciate the vibe.
Lots of street performers and lots of people dressed in period costumes.
You can buy a medallion that gives access to everything for 15$
    (spare change in US$😉)
Here is the site (in english):https://nouvellefrance.qc.ca/en/

We had some snow flurries here for awhile this afternoon, though it was already wet with rain outside, so nothing stuck to the ground. It's supposed to get down to the low twenties here tonight, and only the mid thirties for Christmas day. I hate the cold weather, so I hope this isn't a preview of the winter we have ahead of us. 2020 has been tough enough already, I don't need a harsh winter on top of it......... I switched from bloody marys to beer now, as I don't want those strong drinks creeping up on me...

    Merry Christmas Tribe!

    Currently, 52 ° F here in Quebec !! 30°F in Atlanta! What's going on? Oh yeah, 2020!

I paid $37 for the bottle of Turley. If Sid hadn’t raved about how good it is, I never would have spent that much on a bottle of wine!

Same here, I rarely paid 50 bucks for a bottle of wine. Now I think we can call Sid an influencer 😄
